To me, I'd prefer Solas reluctantly killing the Inq at some point, ranging between a quick: "Well, I always hated you, anyway" assumes dread-wolf Solas form disintegrate Inq* for Inqs with the lowest relationship, to the elf female romance version one, where he sheds a tear in his Solas form.

It's still "Sooolaaaaas waaaaants to destrooooy the waaaaaaarld" ! And I don't think that might happen. Inquisition wasn't so beloved a game that people are dying to have another go with its protagonist.I mean... it was the most sold of the series and we're all here cus of it, but ok.
Seriously, speak for thyself, please.
Speaking for myself, there is no need for the Quizzy to come back.
Bio, imo, will develop DA4 as a Stand Alone game whereby new players can come in and play the game without having to understand past history. To me this makes sense. There is no need to burden newbies with past Lore. ... Bio will make a Dragon Age game... allows a player to choose a character, choose a background and play. Simple.
The studio, imo, wants to lure new players. It knows the old fans will buy the game. Besides, Bio has said that artistic integrity allows them to do what they want( paraphrasing here)..

Solas being the main villain of the game doesn't really jive with the idea of DA4 being a "stand alone game".

As I said many a times... Bio does what's good for Bio... words from Mike Laidlaw. And Solas, being the main villain of DA:I does not by himself have the influence to sell the game to new players by the marketing team.. Besides, you are anticipating that Solas is the main villain of the piece.
I see no reason why Bio is constrained to a Solas plot line. Bio is constrained to develop a game about the Dragon Age World.

Sorry but regardless what Mike Laidlaw said as far as I am concerned yes your right but on the same foot your wrong the game is all about Solas with such a gigantic gap (years) I'm sure new players have picked up on that what is going on new players are not as stupid as you think I'm sure they have read the boards and or played the game they are not as vocal as you are but enough said roast me if ya want I could care lest

Mike Laidlaw doesn't even work for BioWare anymore. Not sure why you are quoting someone who doesn't even have a say in the future of the franchise.

And new players don't need to know who Solas is, specifically, to appreciate a demonic Big Bad Wolf.

They also don't have to have played as the Inquisitor before to have that character be (one of) the protagonist. If that was the case, there would be far fewer people who enjoy Witcher 3 than there are. Or ME 3, for that matter. Shepard was introduced sufficiently that people could pick up ME 3 as their first entry in the series and still connect with him/her and the squad. Its not the same as having played the trilogy from the start, but as a game experience its perfectly doable and many did.

Hm...
The "Dread Wolf Rises" teaser line was a brilliant marketing move.
Many jumped to the conclusion that another DA game is coming. And, they were right. Then, further speculation blossomed into a Sola main story arc because he is seen as the Big Bad. A possibility, I grant that. However, I interpreted that line to simply state a new DA is in the works and the action will probably be in Tevinter.
I simply offer a counter point. Bio in no way is tied down to finishing the Solas plot line in the way people here believe with the Dread Wolf Rises teaser.
Mike Laidlaw was the Creative Director for DA:I. People asked him why feature X was not added or feature why was deleted. His answer "Bio does what's good for Bio" (he gave 4 reasons for making decisions) should be viewed as an indication that game development is designed to make Bio money and is not an indication that the studio will cater to fan wishes / desires.
All my comments going back to Anthem , Andromeda and now DA4 is mostly based on that one line... which to me is the linchpin of all the studio's decisions.
But, hey, we are all adults here. We can draw our own conclusions.

I like my quizzies well enough, but I don't want to continue to play them. I want to play somebody new and completely different. Quizzie can have some cameo war table type stuff, and that's enough for me. Whether Solas the Jerk is the big bad or not, others besides the Inquisitor can want to stop him. What about an agent of the Titans? I doubt there's any love lost there.

I've always been in two minds about the Inquisitor's return vs a new protagonist argument. I can see the benefits of the Inquisitor returning as being -
1) An interesting bit of character development. DA4 takes a character that has previously been given everything(the rift, Skyhold, his companions) and thrusts him in a situation where he's maimed, he doesn't know anyone, and he's up against a much stronger foe. It also goes without saying there's that personal connection with Solas as well.
2) 'A new hero every game' is great in theory but not so great if each game is set in close proximity to one another in time and location, and other characters frequently reappear.
3) The Inquisitor with a mechanical arm would just be cool
But then I have my reasons for why I don't want the Inquisitor to return -
1) The new character won't have the Inquisitor's baggage like race options, and the four voice actors. You don't have to write in a ham fisted reasons for why a Free Marcher Qunari is allowed to walk around Tevinter settlements.
2) It's small but I'd really like to play as someone not from Ferelden, or the Free Marches
3) Kinda links to my previous point, but I'm not sure the Inquisitor deserves a second game. To me his voice acting was boring, he had no memorable lines and I never felt truly attached to him. Now I'm sure this can be improved, but I'm not sure the Inquisitor is the protagonist of all of them to deserve this work. I'd sooner give Hawke another go.
Bioware can make it work whichever way they choose. Just no dual protagonist please - I have no interest in playing the Inquisitor, and his mini me.

Hence the "Anthem with Dragons" take being spread from within Bioware. Wasn't that the Mike Laidlaw version of DA4 that got rebooted right after he left? Yeah, people seem to be confusing different projects here. Joplin (canceled)Another former BioWare developer who worked on Joplin called it “some of the best work experiences” they’d ever had. “We were working towards something very cool, a hugely reactive game, smaller in scope than Dragon Age: Inquisition but much larger in player choice, followers, reactivity, and depth,” they said. “I’m sad that game will never get made.” You’d play as a group of spies in Tevinter Imperium, a wizard-ruled country on the north end of Dragon Age’s main continent, Thedas. The goal was to focus as much as possible on choice and consequence, with smaller areas and fewer fetch quests than Dragon Age: Inquisition. (In other words, they wanted Joplin to be the opposite of the Hinterlands.) There was an emphasis on “repeat play,” one developer said, noting that they wanted to make areas that changed over time and missions that branched in interesting ways based on your decisions, to the point where you could even get “non-standard game overs” if you followed certain paths. A large chunk of Joplin would center on heists. The developers talked about building systemic narrative mechanics, allowing the player to perform actions like persuading or extorting guards without the writers having to hand-craft every scene. It was all very ambitious and very early, and would have no doubt changed drastically once Joplin entered production, but members of the team say they were thrilled about the possibilities. One thing that wasn’t discussed much on Joplin was multiplayer, according to a few people who worked on the project, which is perhaps why the project couldn’t last. Morrison (current)A tiny team stuck around to work on a brand new Dragon Age 4, code-named Morrison, that would be built on Anthem’s tools and codebase. It’s the game being made now. Unlike Joplin, this new version of the fourth Dragon Age is planned with a live service component, built for long-term gameplay and revenue. It’s not clear how much of Joplin’s vision will shape Morrison (at least some of it will, says one person on the game). In early 2018, when I first reported that BioWare had rebooted the next Dragon Age and that its replacement would be a live service game, studio GM Casey Hudson responded on Twitter. “Reading lots of feedback regarding Dragon Age, and I think you’ll be relieved to see what the team is working on. Story & character focused. Too early to talk details, but when we talk about ‘live’ it just means designing a game for continued storytelling after the main story.”So what does all this mean, exactly? How much of a multiplayer focus will Dragon Age 4 have? Is it online-only? We’re not sure about all the details, and in fact they’re likely still being decided, as the game is still very early in development and could evolve based on the negative reception to Anthem. Rumor among BioWare circles for the past year has been that Morrison is “Anthem with dragons”—a snarky label conveyed to me by several people—but a couple of current BioWare employees have waved me off that description. “The idea was that Anthem would be the online game and that Dragon Age and Mass Effect, while they may experiment with online portions, that’s not what defines them as franchises,” said one. “I don’t think you’ll see us completely change those franchises.”
