Did anyone say stat distribution yet? I want to be able to control it like in Origins and DA2. If I want to play a high-constitution mage, then gosh darn it I should be able to. Hear hear! The time for the type of armour utility slot deciding what stat my character has, should be over! Over? It wasn't like that for years - or should I say decades - before some developers decided to "simplify" things. I could set stats in almost every rpg where there were meaningful stats at all between 1993 and 2009 - and I don't extend that period further back only because my recall of games like Wizardry VII is somewhat fuzzy. The times for doing things like Bioware does now should indeed be over, but it would be more like going back to the roots.
Also, read my previous reply at the end of the previous page.

Well, I can only speak for myself but for me it's not about making them a super unique special snowflake - it's more that I'm surprised that people who fight so much don't have more injuries. I really appreciate that Bull had scars, a missing eye, and wore a leg brace because as a soldier-turned-mercenary in his late thirties(??) that seems pretty realistic to me. Though I'm not sure what you mean by detrimental? The only comment people have in-universe in RPGs is just to say how good-looking you are, even if you deliberately clown it up in the CC. π That Bioware games are too stupid to recognize it doesn't mean having one eye or hand isn't detrimental. I am unwilling to dispose of that consideration when I play.
Also, there are actually games which recognize such things, which give you options for physical disadvantages such as "one eye, -5 to all ranged attacks" or "disfiguring scar, -2 to all reactions", though of course that's balanced by giving you additional character points as a rule. Finally, I recall the funny conversations that could ensue if you played a really stupid character in Fallout 1 or 2. It's just that Bioware chose to largely decouple roleplaying from game mechanics, at least as much as they could get away with. It lessens the experience considerably, BTW., which was brought home to me recently again while playing Pillars of Eternity 1+2 - you don't have a personal disadvantage system at character creation there, it's all built into the races and classes, but you can select cross-class/race perks while you play, and those as well as your stats, your race and your class all affect conversations.
To wish for something similar would probably go against Bioware's design philosophy but I'd still like to see something similar almost more than anything else I've read in these wishlist threads. Sure, but in such a case I'd still opt for "detrimental" injuries for roleplaying reasons. It's why I've made half-orc sorcerers and clerics in the past even though they're not the most mechanically suited for it.

I've said this before but just to reiterate, I'm greatly in favor of attribute allocations. What we would, theoretically, do though is to ensure there is some kind of auto-allocate (similar to auto level) for those Players that don't want to engage with the character building side.

Oh, oh! Wishlist: dwarven background that isn't the Carta pls. I love Brosca and I love Cadash, but I hope they don't go that route a third time, for variety's sake.

One thing i always liked in the ME games were the CC codes and recently the ME Archives with the Ryder Gallery, so my wish is that DA4 have something like this so we don`t have to go through screenshots to try to recreate a character.

I agree. I haven't used a screenshot, but went on youtude to see what people did to get the look they got not only for ME and DA, but other games as well.

I just had a thought regarding origins.
Give us the ability to choose one of several origins like in DAO, but instead of giving us an exclusive origin segment, give us a greater variety of origin-exclusive lines.
I find that to be an acceptable compromise between DAO and DAI's takes on character backgrounds.

What would set DA4 from just about every game out there right now would be a good, solid character creator. One that will accept, via code or other shortcut, designs from other people, but also will allow the player to waste spend hours fiddling with all the details. One with a pre-existing ability to handle a broad range of colour palettes. One that sees the world in designs other than muddy plaid.
In short a character creator that boldly steals the best features from every other character creator Bioware has ever done and is unafraid to rob features from other companies' character creators as well.
Some days you want to play a grim no nonensense type who doesn't have time to primp. Other days you want rainbow fooffy hair. Let us have a game that allows both.

Another thing i would like to see coming back it`s the "approval meter/scale" (don`t know how it is called), like we had in DAO and DA2.

Something like 0% - enemy, companion most likely leaves ~25% - challenging debate partner, but just enough common ground to keep the companion intrigued, +rival bonus ~50% - acquaintance ~75% - friend, +friend bonus 100% - creepy level of agreement, some companions might leave or LIs might lose interest... unless theyβre really into yes men That way itβs not just a race to max (dis)approval, which seems to encourage that sort of paragon/renegade playstyle where the player feels like they must (usually) choose option X if they want the benefits of the X path, or that they canβt go wrong if they always just auto-agree with the companion.

This one is a bit more pie-in-the-sky as it requires having custom animations for characters, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway as it is a "wishlist". I stumbled across an old Jimquisition discussion about Doom the other day (specifically the Doomslayer himself), and I thought he raised a pretty interesting point about how this silent protagonist was more expressive than many fully voiced ones. His actions throughout the game (admittedly mostly OTT) giving you a clear and unambiguous insight into the character himself. And that got me thinking about how future DA's characters/companions could benefit by having little quirks, habits, or mannerisms that crop up periodically to help define/reinforce their personality. One I liked from DA was Varric's introduction in DA2, but we only see it once in a cutscene.

I'd like them bring back gifts, at least to/from LI. They shouldn't have anything to do with approval gain. I'd like it if it's something you can look at somewhere in-game. Either in your inventory like in DAO or maybe something on your/their appearance, like in DA2, or it could be something on display in you HQ. I just like having something that reminds me that a LI loves my PC.

And the pope, hes gonna protest such game for sure, you dirty heathen. You'd expect nudity to be something totally normal in games in the year 2019 but I guess we need a couple decades more of human evolution to break that barrier. Sadly.
