I had no problems with the ending. Sure, it may have left you wanting more, but what good story doesn't? If you say none, you haven't read a good story. Look, I only thought that that the man could bring some semblance of BioWare's past glory back after the failure of MEA. Things didn't go so well for Anthem either. If DA4 fails, then I guess we'll know that he can't hack it since that'll be the first thing to come out that was completely under his control. Then, I guess, it'll be time for EA to think about shutting BioWare down. But then again, it won't fail because of all of the DA- propros you've got. Too many people worried about Cullen's hair, or whether or not Iron Bull diddled the Inquisitor. It's going to take an awful lot to disappoint them. But if these games are any indication, BioWare is up to the task.

This isn't the place to debate the mass effect ending, but "leaving you wanting more" was not the complaint most people had with it. ![](//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/qUctXNjCPgwPaLsZeKry.png)

I was shocked when I watched this last live stream and they showed a bit of the Cataclysm, what was deemed to be their golden nugget back at E3 in 2017. What was shown at E3 looks NOTHING like what was shown during the live stream. I realize game companies do this all the time, but the difference is staggering. Just a video to show this difference, in case someone happens to be unaware:

I've been watching some content creators on YouTube discussing Anthem over the past few months and thought I'd share what I've been thinking. We all know how Anthem was released and how it all went down since E3 2017, but it's just begun to sink in for me as I've played the game and watched the live streams. I've read all the tweets and forum posts here and on Reddit and the feeling for me of being deceived/affected by the old bait and switch/lied to, etc., has never been stronger than it is right now. Then I thought back to HOW the game was released, so many issues, we all know what they were. I've been trying to figure out in my brain how 2 companies, major companies, could knowingly release a game as screwed up as Anthem when they did. How was this even possible? How could the exec's have let it happen? Then it dawned on me, and again, we all know it was just a cash grab. EA and BioWare were laughing all the way to the proverbial bank. That actually pisses me off, to know that in 2019 game companies can do this to us and not suffer any repercussions. In my mind its akin to a criminal offense. The Kotaku article came out and laid out how Anthem dev history, or lack thereof, of the internal turmoil in the company, and how the game was put together at the very last minute and under tremendous pressure from the higher ups. But still, how can anybody associated with putting Anthem together at the time of its release actually sleep at night knowing how F'd up it was???!!! It all comes down to the dollar I guess. I've cringed during the last 2 live streams, seeing Jesse's face as Ben goes through the Cataclysm. He knows whats going on, or I like to think he does based on some post stream tweets in the past. They're carrying on as if we're all mindless hacks, accepting what they give us and being happy about it. I realize Reddit has been on fire and most of us on here haven't been heaping praise, but still. I'm 60 years old and I've never seen a game release that was this bad in all the games I've ever played. The Division 1 is a close 2nd, but doesn't come close to how Anthem was released based on all the hype surrounding it. It IS the ultimate bait and switch. Thanks, we're all good and thanks for sharing.

After Blood and Wine I was very fulfilled with how TW3 concluded, but I wouldn't have turned some new content/stories. ME3 left me wanting more but also feeling the conclusion was severely lacking.

Lightning effects...paper debris flying around, thunder-crackling in the background...it all looks and sounds great and authentic...

Seems to be that humans are quick to forget important things.... So true. When it was discovered that Mac and Casey were responsible for the ME3 ending, people reception towards Casey wasn't really praise worthy. But as soon Andromeda failed and things were looking a bit bleak on Anthem side. His return was applauded. But I never understood why. It was as if people forgot everything, and thought just because he was ME original creator everything was just going to be alright. Even after the numerous of devs and writers that left before and after his return. It was just laughable how delusional the BW community could be sometimes. I think that bringing back one of the developers of a beloved series was EA's way of trying to quell the sinking ship fear for Bioware fans since a lot of the original crew of Bioware were pretty much leaving for one reason or another at the time. But, desperate times do call for desperate measures.

Just a video to show this difference, in case someone happens to be unaware: hahaha! AAAAHahaHahAHAHhahaaaa!! I'm laughing at myself. I'm laughing, because I only fleetingly watched the stream and remembered thinking that it looked pretty good. But now that I see this comparison again... I laugh at my obviously still not totally assassinated glimmer of hope I didn't know I still had for BioWare. I must crush this inner hope. I must obliterate it, and replace it with red hot seering anger. Bioware must become akin to blood rage. No seriously, last live stream had me leaving "meh" to their great Cataclysm game mode savior. But for all the reasons I mentioned in the today in anthem thread (still not communicating, still nto understanding the community, still repeating the same mistakes game development wise, new level loot making all previousl effort for nothing ...), I still had me thinking: "okay, the game mode itself does look fun.". But then again, that counts for all previous anthem game modes as well. Also, they're basically admitting: "okay look, we have no idea what to do to please you guys anymore. Also, our vision of the game is non existant, so would you please fill it in? *Enter PTS server* Oh yeah, and since we can't underpay developers anymore and have them work overtime, here is a play test server, now you can do their work for free! Now get to work, you corporate bitches! Make us some money! You wouldn't want your beloved, precious Bioware to die, right? You wouldn't want it to be... your fault... now would you? Get to work! PS: We make no promise to actually incorporate any ideas you submit to us, and also, if you get a good idea and submit it, we surely thought of it first so you get no credit." In any case, this last livestream pushed my over the edge to quit anthem for now and play other games. I'll come back when - or if - they get their shit together. I know one thing though. I'm never preordering another bioware game again. Fun as they may be, their antics have just gone too far. I'm actually coming to a point where I think they should just disband and whatever talent they still have hidden away in there can go to a company that tries to do things right.

Every time I see the E3 video I just shake my head. False Advertising if I've ever seen it. Everything you're about to see was captured in game my ass. It's one thing to show a game in it's optimal form and then remove things that may not work, or would not run on all platforms. But we've come to find out that there wasn't even a shell of a game at the point the video of Anthem was shown at E3. They basically made cutscenes of their goals and passed it off as actual gampeplay.

No applause from me after the ME3 ending. No applause from me once he returned. Especially so, once he uttered ".. creative freedom..." in a pathetic attempt at his defense. Thus, I won't be aghast once DA4 come out not looking like a DA game I love and cherish. The live service model will ruin it.

It doesnt matter. Next shiny trailer and people will again misinterprete that "footage from game" doesnt mean gameplay or what they saw is what they get. Sheep just can't understand PR corpspeak.

I think most level headed people are fine with seeing things in these trailers and then the game comes out and things are toned down. But this case was different. There was no game at this point, so how would anything have been captured in-game? This was basically someone telling the developers go make this.

They had the assets, the engine, they had the javelins, the world, fort arsis - what they dint have was a comprehensive design what their game is about.

Yeah, my guess is they used the game engine and existing assets to build just that little bit, but when it came to developing the entire game, they found it didn’t scale well so toned it back.

This. There is a huge difference between the almost expected visual downgrades that happen between trailer and release: these are usually reduced lighting and shadow quality, reduced vegetation density, reduced particle effects and the like. The reasons for this are likely performance problems on one or more platforms, or in some rare cases, enforced platform parity (WatchDogs, for example). There's cinematic trailers, where the viewer knows that no actual gameplay is being shown. And then there's cases like Anthem's E3 2017 trailer, which was not made from the game itself despite explicitly stating so, but from a separate application that only existed as a source for that trailer and had no other purpose. The only other case like this I can remember was Alien: Colonial Marines, which also used an application to generate a trailer from that was completely separate from the actual game. Until Anthem's E3 2017 trailer came along and dethroned it, A:CM's trailer was the king of bullshots. But at least it didn't explicitly claim to have been recorded in-game.

Then they should say this was created using the game engine. I have seen this on trailers before. But if you say this was captured in game, there should be a an alpha or beta, some version someone was playing when it was captured.

Yeah, my guess is they used the game engine and existing assets to build just that little bit, but when it came to developing the entire game, they found it didn’t scale well so toned it back.
Then they should say this was created using the game engine. I have seen this on trailers before. But if you say this was captured in game, there should be a an alpha or beta, some version someone was playing when it was captured.
Yes, it was misleading

hahaha! Meh. The BioDrones will do that. All you need to do is post your lament, the propros will do the rest.
