But who does it hurt the most ? Ghost Recon for being worse, or Anthem for being the new measurement for bad games ? Fair point. Is GR:B a live game? It's an Ubisoft game. Moot question And unfortunately publishers don't care about reviews as long as the cash keeps flowing. GR:B is very likely to be successful on that front and go on for years with huge updates. Meanwhile we are still waiting for Anthem's first huge update. And no, the Cataclysm was medium size at best.

True, there hasn't been a huge one. But they seem to be doing okay-ish with medium ones and updates for now. Now that they're at 1.5, the game is becoming more known to the general public for it's potential. Personally, I haven't experienced a annoyant bugs in quite a while, so that's definitely a step in the right direction. Also, them mass effect armors will be raking in the $$$'s as well I reckon. But I will concede that as long as they don't fix their endgame loot, the game won't be worth it / ready for the big leagues.

^ This video is VERY relevant to everybody defending live services saying it doesn't impact the fun negatively. "You don't have to buy stuff so it doesn't affect you." As the video says, games are designed to have flaws now that MTX can "fix". It's utterly disgusting. And this affects EVERY player. Very good video. This is also relevant for DA4.

This is also relevant for DA4. I am trying to imagine any scenario in which DA4 turns out not awful at this point. It probably doesn't help that when I look back and go "yeah, Inquisition had some real story issues, but at least it was fun to play!" I remember that I modded the heck out of it to tweak the gameplay. When I figure that the live service model will mean no mods, I start wanting to weep.

5 years of hard work with graphic-fluid antithesis of Bioware games and absolute managerial masterpiece supposed to reach transcendence with Bioware magic via unplanned acts to finally create Bob Dylan of gaming.

I remember that I modded the heck out of it to tweak the gameplay. When I figure that the live service model will mean no mods, I start wanting to weep. I liked DAI at lot in the end. Took some 10 hours to get immersed but it was a really good game imo. Main story was a bit lame but the elven stuff was amazing, and overall still had the Bioware magic. That magic is gone.
Hard to get excited about any AAA game these days tbh. Rockstar, Bethesda... all high on the MTX money. I'm replaying older games or buying AA and a bit of indie now. Very happy that way. Lots of cool creative games filling the void. AAA can go suffocate on the MTX money. EA, Ubisoft, Zenimax, all of them. They're all the same now.

Actually, 3 years of managerial loitering, followed by 2 years of developers getting overworked and pushed around by different managers in different directions. The first 3 years was definitely not 'hard work'. That's what actually was the problem in the first place.

All triple A studios are this way now. Fill the games with MTX, and if they bitch, then yank them for a time. Note : "For a time" means until you've actually released your game. See, because by then, all the stupid shits will have bought your game already. Much much easier to shove shit down your friend's throat after he's just bought Anthem.
That's called customer service in the gaming industry. I hope y'all like it, because I'm sick of it.

I doubt the truth is less of "games are intentionally designed to have flaws" and more of "Yeah there are still flaws in the game from early development but who cares? We'll cash in already now and maybe fix it later". So you believe that food spoiling faster in FO76 now that they sell you a fridge is coincidence? Surrrrre.... Players are asking the devs to implement stuff in the game (which ALWAYS means the shop!) that you can get for free playing FO4. It's absurd! Just play FO4 instead if you like the camp feature! Dear lords...
Let me ask you, would you rather grind forever/pay to get an item... OR get it as a reward for completeting a quest or beating a boss enemy? Games used to reward you with cool shit for actually doing FUN things in a game. PROGRESSING the STORY. Now they make you grind the same shit over and over and over. WTF. My work life is a grind of the same thing over and over. Why would I want to PAY to have my free time play out the same way? I will never understand...

When you originally typed 'flaws' I thought you meant technical bugs and unoptimised menus etc. Didn't know you had specific evil game design in mind. But on that point, yeah I agree with you fully.

CDPR is AA, the third A for Ubisoft/Blizzard/EA is for asshole. Even though the marketing campaign of CP77 leans to AAA (Keanu, etc...), they haven't abandoned development for pure publishing like others

No AA studio would ever be able to create such a vast world filled with content with a medium budget. I know 3A is associated these days with the word scumbag, but well, CDPR as of now isn't like that.

The outer worlds is looking promising - maybe it can be something of a mass effect substitute? It’s already a good sign that the review embargo lifted well before release and they’re coming in strong.

Something which disproves the norm, yet they continue to make it work.

Unfortunately, I disabled all services related to Xbox on my PC permanently, so IDK if it is even possible to get it. Cannot disable the store permanently however. This indeed may be an option. However, considering the long history of Obsidian, their games need about a year of patching to get to a reasonable playable condition. Anyhow, we'll see how it goes. The game looks pretty nice and has excellent reviews for now.

Shooter with controller race ? No thanks ^^ *troll hat on* With all the aim assist they have, I will hardly call a console game a "shooter" You just have to point in the general direction and sometimes the game does it for you anyway. I am certain some of the best controller feats happen mostly because the player is trying to do something else, but the game assisted in surprise ways I know because it happens on PC as well when I try to use a controller (Assassin Creed 3 flashbacks when Connor kept going for the "awesome" kill, which was behind him and 2 floors down on the street, instead of the clearly marked target a meter away on the balcony )
