One thing MS did, was shoehorn ME1 to underpowered console... Probably because more than 70 percent of the Mass Effect franchise sales have been on the Xbox 360, which has sold 7.29 million units across all first three games. Maybe. Wasnt it an exclusive on it for a year or so? Anyway, BioWare has said it hurt their vision a lot... and I can understand it, it was meant for much more powerful PC's originally.

There's a reason most AAA releases have at least one console to rely on, because usually that's where bulk of the sales come from, and the trilogy has that percentual. I mean, profits, is how these new games are made. Seven months window between the two initial releases of ME1.

How much of that was because people wanted to carry their saves forward and that Microsoft was the dominate console last generation. To me that statement would be just as accurate if Mass Effect 1 was released now and 70% of the sales were on the PS4.

Not very likely to happen. Microsoft's investors would never put up with the kind of money EA would ask for their company, even if they technically have it in their battle chest.
Microsoft shareholders have been hostile to their gaming division since it's inception, and that's unlikely to change. That Microsoft would want to own EA doesn't mean they're going to actually go ahead and buy them.

If it gets MEA2 which is the ONLY Mass Effect game that NEEDS to made and none of this remaster and prequel crap, because Mass Effect Andromeda laid out so much potential it's mindblowing! Going back to the Milky Way would be a huge waste of time, resources, and money. I want to see the franchise move forward not backwards like a lot of people here who are just IMHO whiny entitled hardcore gamer trolls all saying "That they want an ME4 because they are still butt hurt over the endings to ME3" bullshit. Because all those worthless pieces of shit want to is shit all over " ME4" when it doesn't "fix" the endings to ME3 BECAUSE NOTHING BIOWARE CAN DO WILL EVER FIX THE DAMN ENDINGS TO MASS EFFECT 3 SO GET OVER IT! Mass Effect Andromeda 2 is the true future of the series and if EA, Bioware or Microsoft can deliver a great single player game then I'll be happy. Also it should be noted that MS has closed down gaming studios Lionhead got axed and now they're rumors that MS wants a new Fable game to be their answer to the PS4's Horizon Zero Dawn and Rare is a shell of it's former glory.

In another thread I mentioned Microsoft games studios taking it back and doubted myself. I will crap my pants if this happens. I really will. Mass Effect? Dead Space? Countless others thrown on the corpse heap? Ghosts returning from our past... Kotor 3 ? [screams internally]

That could have a huge impact on console gaming knowing MS, with way too many exclusive titles for the Xbox, then Sony would inevitably respond in kind...

I'm conflicted with this.
On one hand, it would be awesome for Microsoft to actually own decent IPs to be able to compete with Sony.
But on the other hand, Microsoft's game division has performed terribly this generation. Forgetting the whole debacle in the beginning with the Xbox One, but i've lost count of how may games they've cancelled this generation.
This could be both good, and worse.
*Remembers Andromeda*
Nevermind, it can only be better.

You're all forgetting that MS will have to come up with something to make that money back, and quickly. Right now, the only thing that I see coming from EA (besides the yearly releases of sports games) is Anthem in another year.

Ehhh, I can't see Microsoft buying out all of EA, if anything they're going to do what Disney did with Fox and just buy out specific assets....which in this case would probably be Bioware, Respawn, and maybe Criterion. Microsoft definitely needs to add some exclusive single player games to Xbox and acquiring Bioware would be a good way to accomplish that goal.

I'm surprised EA hasn't published an statement already to avoid all the speculation, something is definitely going on atm. Come on, Microsoft. Get these IPs, remaster the Mass Effect Trilogy like you did with Gears Of War, publish it for Xbox and PC. Support Anthem. Get that next Battlefield, bring Titanfall to where it belongs, keep those sports licenses multi as the contract demand, revive Dead Space, absorb EA Access into Game Pass. Man, it's a gold mine EA fucked up. Also, please dump Origin... Dump Origin for the fucking Windows Store? God no, honestly Origin isn't even that bad, don't why people have such hate boner for it. UPlay on the other hand......

Not a huge fan of Microsoft, but I absolutely dispise EA. Would love to see Microsoft buy EA out then kill them off like they have done to so many studios. Then resurrect all the franchises that EA murdered.
I think there is no chance it happens, but a man can dream.

Same as Steam. Not a defense of Origin; I think they both kinda suck. Steam doesn't start getting shitty the moment you refuse to restart it for an update. Origin does. Steam actually notifies you without a half-screen notification. Steam Over-lay has less compatibility issues. Steam has a darker skin. Sadly, Steam also started changing things that weren't broken, so I guess it's only a matter of time before it starts sinking to Origin's level. True, Origin is 10x better than UPlay, but credit where credit is due, Steam IS the better program, with a better UI (that doesn't start locking up when you refuse to restart it for an update like Origin's UI).

Didn't know about the overlay since I never use them. And darker skin is just personal taste; I don't give a damn myself either way.
Note that Steam updates much more frequently than Origin, so I find update annoyance between the two to be a wash.

Note that Steam updates much more frequently than Origin, so I find update annoyance between the two to be a wash. Well, considering you can just as easily tell Steam that you don't want to restart it so it can update, and the program remains stable indefinitely, no, it really isn't a wash. Origin becomes increasingly unstable and unresponsive until you are forced to restart it (but only once updates are released). This really is not a wash, this is one FORCING updates, and one RECOMMENDING updates. I will, however, grant you that darker skins are a personal taste, however, I will also propose that photosensitive people (of varying sensitivity levels) exist, and game, and such people will be more comfortable (ie: less pained) using a darker skin. No, not everybody should be forced into a darker scheme, however, as with all things, I'd like there to be options instead of "Majority rules" or "Our tech team liked this better, so it's what we use now" (This latter one is what Steam is steadily becoming, and it is not nice). Still, considering the Non-Steam-Non-Origin alternatives (not naming and shaming) out there, we're discussing what shines more compared to dirt, Gold or Silver? Both are MUCH better than the alternatives, there will always be dispute/debate over which is the "best", but I doubt anybody could seriously list any of the alternatives as better than either of these (I say this not LIKING Origin, but I credit it for being better than the others).

Same as Steam. Not a defense of Origin; I think they both kinda suck. Steam mostly updates to tell you about the next game on sale and it's also fairly quick. Origin...no idea, but I could wait for up to 10 minutes before it's ready to go and that's something I dislike. Most likely they've hauled out a new interface that's even worse than the last.

I know i hated Steam for the longest time for it corrupted for the lack of a better word my PC when I bought Half-Life 2 and had to re-install my OS. As far as being intrusive how is Origin and more or less intrusive then Steam? Both log and collect the same information about you or at the very least say they will in their EULA. It does sound like we have had the opposite of interactions between these two companies, Origin hasn't been a problem for me, but multiple times I have had to dedicate weeks to trying to deal with Valve's almost non-existent support. As far as problems installing ME:A, I just backed it up to an external drive and just copied it back and repaired it when I had troubles. I would prefer a backup option like Steam has, but I think Steam is unique for having something like that as well.

Yep. Origin on my computer setup caused major technical problems -got the game at early access and finally got to play after one and half months of this: bsn.boards.net/post/664992 I had tried EA support and kept getting the same old run around again and again -nothing they told me worked -figures. Origin is also more intrusive for me simply because since this issue I had with ME:A -now resolved -it has been worse. Origin now installs simultaneously to all 5 of my hard drives. Creating multiple Program Filesx86 and APPDATA folders on all 5 drives and then replicates multiple Origin folders inside each of those. Also I can only play ONE game installed with origin. Even with multiple games installed for example: SWTOR, ME:A and ME3. If I set ME:A to be playable then it breaks the installs of the other two. If I then fix the install of one of the other two then ME:A is broken and will not launch. After which I would have to do everything in that link ALL OVER AGAIN Steam and Uplay NEVER! caused that sort of problem. I was hesitant to use origin in the first place -didn't hate it. Do I still like Origin after this? Nope. I LOATHE IT!
Yes. Backup option is a necessity. I had to copy a backup of Origin to three separate locations once resolved the issue of the install since EVERYTIME origin updated had to START ALL OVER AGAIN. Both install of ME:A and Origin -from scratch after EVERY origin update.
