Mass Effect and BioWare could end up in Microsoft's lap soon

Long-term, being forced to Windows 10 is inevitable anyway whoever's owning the dev.

When you're eventually forced into Win10 sjsharp2010, go Windows 10 Pro so you can avoid the mandatory updates (sometimes updates screw with your computer). And you'll need to disable all the spying and anti-privacy stuff in the settings. If you do that Win 10 is fine.

Or you can go the other route -- get the Technical Preview, suffer through the updates and spying, and pay nothing.

Its doubtful this will happen.

More likely EA might "sell off" IP so to speak. Offer them for exclusivity on the Xbox One for a short-term deal.

The consoles are loss leader hardware, so it’s all about the sales of the games anyway. 

I think it's bad news. However you feel about EA, there is no universe where having less third-party developers is good for consumers. The "console wars" in general, are bad for consumers.

Also, I have seen nothing to indicate that Microsoft is anymore interested in developing single-player RPGs than anyone else. Industry-wide, the demand for online multiplayer-focussed titles is only getting bigger.

Would probably be a good thing if MS did buy EA (provided they axed all EA's higher ups and gave the dev studios wider births). But i doubt this will happen. It'd be too good to be true.

I doubt this will happen cause people are aware buying EA out would cost a fortune, furthermore EA is doing fine on its own (sticks are at all time highs) so they've no reason to sell out. I think you'd see EA give up IPs before selling out but even that is rare.

I doubt much would change in terms of the games being built differently, instead of blaming EA, people are just going to blame Microsoft cause people don't understand publishers don't make games. So unless Microsoft fires everyone and replaces them all, the course stays afloat. What will change however is what franchises go the route of exclusive. Mass effect used to be xbox only when it came to consoles, I doubt they'd do that again as mass effect doesn't have that power to make people buy an Xbox (if halo and gears of war can't do it, no way in hell mass effect is doing it) just for it while also being able to draw money in for the Xbox, they'd make more simply keeping it available to every platform. Anthem on the other hand would be a good use of exclusive rights as no one knows what it is, it has an interest into it and people would likely buy an Xbox for it, furthermore it doesn't have a tarnished past. Out of the rest of EAs games, I could see titanfall probably going exclusive. I doubt they'd chain up battlefield or the sport games as they'll make far more money being available to as many platforms as possible.

It would be interesting to see if MS would continue ME or just simply can it.

Honestly don't know if I'd be willing to switch to Xbox just for this. I've always used Playstation and don't have the money to throw around on a new system just so I'd be able to play the next Mass Effect/Dragon Age game.

Probably because more than 70 percent of the Mass Effect franchise sales have been on the Xbox 360, which has sold 7.29 million units across all first three games. Maybe.
