I made some progress with it last night. Problem was between chair and keyboard. Basically - I hadn’t properly positioned the reticle. Once I corrected that, headshots galore. Left the Citadel to find Liara, wound up on some barren moon with a distress signal and spent the next 20 minutes getting owned by a Thresher Maw. Gave up and went on to the mining site, where the Mako was immensely helpful in lolstomping geth. After briefly being held up by the weird spider frog geth fight (and figuring out that I hadn’t been able to use biotics because I had to bind them to keys), headed down the mine shaft. If you want to make the thresher maw fight a bit easier, either go right to the end of the combat zone where it triggers it to pop up, or, with a bit of practice, keep stationary and shoot at it using the cannon and gun, and boost forwards when it throws itself back to spit all over you. Cheers. I figured a bit of cheesing would get the job done, but I’d run out of patience by the time that occurred to me. I’ll probably come back and deal to it later.

Actually, snipers are very useful for vanguard. I regularly run one on my vanguards in ME1. Makes you deadly at short and long range, no one sees it coming. They work even better for ME2 (viper) and ME3 (indra, raptor, valiant) if someone wants to spec that way. Sniper rifles are no longer drunk for classes that don't have that skill. The reticule used to go in huge circles when you'd aim unless you dumped points in snipers. Sniper training is only good for extra damage and the assassination ability. After briefly being held up by the weird spider frog geth fight (and figuring out that I hadn’t been able to use biotics because I had to bind them to keys), headed down the mine shaft. lol I figured that was probably what happened. git gud shrub. You can still use your abilities without binding them, just pull up the power wheel. But that is definitely an advantage PC has over console--you don't have to bring up the power wheel all the time to use powers. On console for ME1 you can bind one power. One. Gotta pause combat and pull up the power wheel for all the others. *tries not to laugh about the thresher maw* Stay on the move and shoot it. If I remember correctly there is actually a setting turned on by default on PC that locks the camera to where the mouse is pointing so the Mako can't aim freely. It's called "Mako Relative Steering" under controls. I don't know if your controls are set that way but I'd check and turn that shit off. In the Mako you definitely want to be able to drive independently of where you're aiming. It makes thresher maw fights almost impossible without it.

I would just stay in one place and shoot the maw with the cannon and machine gun until it spit then i would just jump.
If I recall I found it important to make sure the maw came up as far away as possible.
I know a lot of people got out of the mako and killed it with their team and supposidely got uber exp for doing so.

I was trying to drive around it, firing and that was working reasonably well. Unfortunately it was one of those things where the closest I got was actually the first attempt. I got the health bar nearly all the way down, then got fractionally too close and it one-hit the Mako. It was all downhill from there.

I did that a few times for the extra XP. No need to anymore because now you get the same XP for killing enemies regardless if you're on foot or in the Mako.

Rescued Liara. Her voice is annoying. Wondered why I see all the “Liara is OP” comments when she kept dying, then realised there is a setting for squad biotics *Ash Williams says racist things* Ash “It’s not racism. Not really.” *Ash continues to say racist things* Excellent start. (And yes, I know, they’re not other races, they’re other species…but she compared them to dogs we’d sacrifice to get away from a bear…) I like Tali. She has infectious enthusiasm. Despite having had them a while, no opinion on Wrex or Garrus, yet. Kaidan seems like he’s got some damage somewhere, but every time he opens his mouth, I just think “shut up, Carth!” Just arrived on Feros after doing a couple of side missions. One to find a beacon hidden by some space monkeys (the ‘open world’ of that place was a massive resource sink…frames were all over the place…) and retrieve a nuclear drone from a barren moon which was actually a trap….a trap that left all the doors on the way out to the bad guy camp overlook functioning. 8/7 - Game of the Year. In all seriousness, though - so far, it’s quite good.

It's pretty funny if you leave Liara in her prison for as long as possible before doing that quest. She has some different dialogue.

I guess i have to go and buy the remasterd edition now but i did not want to do it until i could get the newer xbox.

That feeling when you have, like 5% health, no medi-gel, have taken down the last Thorian node and that green asari drops for one last hit...and takes you out.

Use barrier to give you a boost, alternate with tactical armour. Set it up just before you know she's about to pop out and pop you. Use throw and lift to keep the little critters away if you start getting swarmed, and get old mate shotgun out for the party. You can hold down the powers wheel to pause, and re-aim if necessary . And pick targets for your helpers to "do". Also you can use powers one after the other as ME1 has individual cooldowns, just have to wait for each one to recharge before you can use it again. Also, don't use medi gel til you absolutely have to - your squadmates will pop up again after each battle, free of medigel usage!

A bit of save scumming, which isn't something I'm proud of, but better than lowering the difficulty. Also sorted out the colonists food, water and power problems.
