Who's fault is it?

I usually don't smoke some of that kush but last night was one of those nights. And when I get stoned I always over analyze everything.

When I play this game I always host because you would be a fool not to, and I usually just start a gold game by myself and let people join in.

Correct me if I am wrong but I always understood that the multiplayer was part of Mass Effect 3 lore. And the multiplayer characters are trying to fight the faction to keep control of the firebases, right? So I was playing with a turian sentinel on vanilla reactor vs Cerberus. It got to wave 3 and no one joined. And I started to think who is at fault at Cerberus for losing control of the Firebase?

There has to be a general or commanding officer in charge of keeping the firebase from the Alliance forces. Like how could he go back and show his face to his superiors after he had to tell them he lost the reactor to just one turian? And he was a horrible commander. I was on the far side of the reactor but he kept ordering his men to run straight down the reactor at me instead of trying to flank me. And even at that wouldn't you keep some of your forces up top where they spawn?

Then I thought it has to be Harbinger's fault because isn't he controlling Cerberus by way of indoctrination? And that would make sense as to why the Reapers with overwhelming technology lost the whole war. But Harbinger is really only controlling the Illusive Man right? Isn't he the one giving the orders? But he wouldn't really be ordering single troops right? He would delegate that to others. And with the waves, does the commanding officer have to call in each wave and say "Hey look I need some more back up here this turian just slaughtered everyone here" or are all the troops already at the firebase just like sleeping in a room like a firefighter waiting to be called into action?

And if my whole point is to take back the firebase why do I have to rush to a shuttle at the end while there are still enemies there? Then they all BLOW UP when I leave, so did they just then have time for aerial bombardment? If that's the case what was the point of the whole mission?
