***Your Last Solo in One Word***

Ushior.

Took the Ushior Siphon and Eagle Siphon for a spin in Firebase Zero with the Exemplar. Ended up with a relatively quick (for me) Gold solo against the Kett. Ushior packs a punch and tech combos make the enemies stand still. You do need to aim well with the Ushior. Eagle was a decent backup. The buffs are working!

Does it count as a Solo if people join in Wave 6 after you’ve finished the objective, LOL? It’s like, come on people, join a few minutes earlier and save me a bunch of consumables...

Learning how to Solo Gold has been a revelation. For a while I was nervous to join Gold lobbies because they’re starting to get a bit thin and hosts were terrible. Now I just fire up a Gold with an open room and if people join, great (really helps on Wave 6, haha), and if not... that’s often okay too! Although if you get stuck with Upload or Hack in Wave 6 on you’re own, it is game over. I can pretty often get through Wave 3 by spamming consumables like a mad man, but Wave 6 Hacks and Uploads are impossible, basically.

I’ve also come to sort of hate Devices. They generally work out, but if you get a bad string of locations, it can be a real disaster...

I mostly solo with Angara Avenger and Human Soldier. It is not an accident that they both have multiple power-cell based powers and they’re so strong for solos, IMO. The ability to spam ammo packs on tough objective waves is KEY. The Avenger is just amazing of course. As long as you get decent Wave 6 objectives, I feel like she almost can’t lose. You can just grind Grid+Sticky very patiently and take snipes or shotgun shots very carefully and you’re almost unbeatable (until you get a bad Wave 6 draw). It is a lot harder with the Soldier since you can’t just vanish on demand, but spammable powers make up for it with huge DPS. I also feel like these characters use my best weapons well. I’ve been lucky enough to pull decent Black Widows, Dhans, and Hurricanes. Black Widow or Dhan (depending on the map) with a slow firing Siphon back-up works well on the Avenger, and Hurricane plus some Siphon auto goes on my Soldier.

I can Solo Silver with the Guardian and Juggernaut, and have almost pulled off a Gold with the Guardian. I’ve been trying Silver with Turian Agent and Human Commando and have gotten close, but I’ve been unlucky with objectives.

I’ve also done a bunch of characters on Bronze, but that isn’t very notable. I sometimes do Bronze solos with the Kineticist - she is a holy terror on that difficulty, and good to pick up Biotic mastery challenges. I don’t do that as much these days because credits are more valuable so it is more profitable to spend my limited time on Gold Solos with my stronger characters. For me, I’ve priced 60 Mission Funds as being worth around 30k credits, so I don’t go out of my way to get silly challenges (although the map waves are basically always worth going after).

I usually run a Hesh on my Avenger and a Hornet or an Equalizer on the Soldier. I run my Hornet’s with penetration mods, so that is how I deal with long range enemies or enemies in cover. The Equalizer is better if I have to a hold a point. Sometimes I run the Shadow main but I get frustrated with its shallow clip in solos.

I’ve also got a Scattershot (I have most of the rare siphons), but I filled its circle a long time ago, so Hesh is probably my best Siphon shotgun. I usually run either Grenade Capacity or Shock Trooper on my Avenger, so a shotgun is a good, standard backup.

I feel like I could run The Algorithm with most of my 20s on Sandstorm and do okay as long as I drew decent objectives. But I have limited time to play each day (wife, kids, and job, LOL), so I usually spend my precious waves trying to hit the daily challenge, and this keeps me conservative on which characters I’m willing to start with.

I recently finished the Falcon, Ghost, and Zalkin challenges myself. Stil have one more to get the AR nameplate, and 4-5 for the Sniper Rifle and Pistol challenges. Not going to enjoy using the Carnifex and Phalanx!

Have you tried doing an Avenger Platinum Solo in the Kinetic Glass Room yet, using your Scattershots?

We actually did use Phalanx on platinum. All the chars just with Phalanxes. I think that was the longest platinum game to date, and my finger was burnt of all the mouse button hitting for few days after that. I dont think I've used it since. Thankfully I did the challenge much before this.

I am just starting out in MP having played very little on release as I played the single player and then moved on to other games after 1 complete playthrough (and multiple restarts lol).

So my Apex rating was hovering around 1000, now I'm over 2000 but I can't even solo bronze because of a couple things (I think, hell maybe I just suck)

1. I'm really bad at not kite-ing the enemies. I'd rather hunker down like in a traditional horde mode sense (think GoW, old school horde).
2. My characters and guns are all low level. I'm just now starting to get the commons to rank X, but no one is at level 20 yet. And my favs seem to be hella squishy.
3. Can't carry many consumables so I only get 2-3 revives per try. =/


That said I did join a gold that turned into a plat (host changed the difficulty after we completed the gold) and made it through 5 waves with only 3 of us and me basically just tickling the enemies lmao. So that was fun.

"Shit!"

Well, I had an interesting "solo" attempt last night.

I was in a gold lobby for firebase zero with remnant enemies and there were 3 of us in there. One person was already readied up so I readied up as well and alt+tabbed for a minute while waiting on the other person to do whatever. I tab back to the game and I'm on the loading screen. When I get in the game... it's just me.

Just me and my level 10 (at the time) Angara Insurgent. I'm screwed lol. But I'm determined to get some credits out of this run.

So I run around the map constantly (which I hate doing btw, yes I'm a camper and the insurgent allows me to do that usually) and mash shield boost a lot and use all of my consumables in the first 3 waves lmao. Turns out the best thing I was able to do was hide in that very small hallway that connects the cave room and the other room. I threw down my turret, with the proximity repair thing, in the middle of the hall with trip mines on both doors and killed a good many there.

Finally around wave 4 someone joined as a krogan and became my distraction. I still had to run around a lot though. Then on wave 5 or 6, 2 more people joined and I was able to hold up in the back corner and we completed the game with full extraction.


Technically not a solo, but it sure felt like it... even with the other players since at that point I had no consumables. lol

Grindy!

Remnant on Icebreaker today. I was with my Avenger (now an 11!), running Black Widow and Hesh. I find Remnant to be a really slow, painful grind, mostly because Observers are relatively hard for me to handle. I can’t ‘nade spam them and they can be tricky to snipe sometimes. A formula for a long game... Fortunately, the Objective Gods were kind and graced me with Devices and Retrieval.

I hate Observers too. Not as many places to camp and snipe without getting overrun.
