I think you are highly undervaluing 2 points of damage, two whole points man. You can waste ammo 2 points of damage less now. Though it does work on the levels of play I can hang at, even though its obvious other guns are just better.

Whoah, PAW got OP AF. And Hurricane got a big buff! I guess someone was tired of the Rozerad being the best pistol.
What I would really love for them to do next is fix all these stats in smartphone app. I like to look at numbers in there on occasion, but theyβre all just horribly wrong now...

Haven't played MEA in a while, but it seems like they're increasing the disparity between the the top and bottom tier weapons. My theory is that all the balances changes have fallen to one person, the one person who didn't care enough or was too oblivious to move out of BW Edmonton.

Well, it is a cooperative game, not a competitive, so any and all buffs are fine IMO. In particular, buffing URs is fine with me because Iβll never unlock their variants, so making any of them I do have better and more usable is great.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the game is getting attention. But it's just so odd that they keep buffing things that don't need buffing when there are guns that obviously need some love, too. On top of that, some of the buffs are so small that they beg the question why even bother? Unfortunately due to the internet taking away my facial expressions this post is coming off more negative than confused. But I assure you, I'm more confused (and amused) than bummed.

New people starting the game who get one of these UR weapons are going to get a demonstrably better gun than whatever Common, Uncommon, and Rare weapon they are using. Long-timing players who have been for grinding URs to variant levels will be rewarded with an OP UR weapon.
Now, as far as the Soned goes, Iβd like to think that there will be another balance change that buffs it to a level that people will take it instead of the Rozerad, Hurricane, or Silhesh.

Now, as far as the Soned goes, Iβd like to think that there will be another balance change that buffs it to a level that people will take it instead of the Rozerad, Hurricane, or Silhesh. I don't think after a year of Soned it will get any better than 2 damage.... If anything the damage on P.A.W. should have been on Soned. Idk, I remember there being a post from bioware about how "people haven't figured out the secret of Soned," or something to that degree. As far as I can tell... Very inaccurate unless in cover. Shares characteristics with "old" hurricane, but while hurricane, even now has gotten buffed multiple times....Soned is still give or take the same as released. Does prime rather quickly per bullet, but not so much that it doesn't warrant a 30-50 damage per bullet increase. After using it a few matches, I would say its not the worst gun in the arsenal, (Venom) but even before the last balance, was one of the top 5 worst and 100% the worst UR by a football field. I actually dreaded getting this gun to X... Whatever the secret of soned or its hidden effect is, I (not specifically speaking of myself, but everyone who uses soned and tested it) can't see or produce it to be used in the game, so it is pointless. I haven't been on since the update, I guess I'll give the game a multiplayer run just to give justice to my irritation or bioware.

Soned siphon variant is useful in platinum if you combine it with juggernaut. While you're firing you literally can't die thanks to the regen it provides, mixed in with the armour buff of the character. All u need do is get 3 glass cannon team mates to sit behind you and shoot. If there was a way to boost its accuracy it'd be one of the best guns in the game. The only thing that really screws the weapon is its fast-widening, bullet spread cone.

Perhaps it offers the user a DR... which would be awesome, but would need actual numbers and be at least 10%. This is what I hoped the soned would be, since its about as heavy and performs the same way, without the 50% armor 50% shield damage modifier.... of course. If soned had the 50% mods, would be no problem what so ever, but without them, it kind of doesn't exist. At all....

Well obviously there's siphon rozerad or hurricane or PAW but sometimes you get bored of the same ol same ol. Sometimes its nice to equip the Soned and re-enact that one scene from Scar Face "Say hello to my little friend!" except its more like a nerf gun.

I think more in terms of this scene when using it myself: But I get what you're saying. So many shitty guns. So few good ones. So little variety. I really wanted the soned to get a worthwhile buff so I could justify using it on my TSol. Shame it still sucks more balls than an Asari hooker in a Tuchanka brothel.

In general, MEA should have had half the number of guns and twice the number of characters - but no larger number of URs! There should have been a lot more Uncommon characters.
The problem with guns is there are always a few that are the best and you use them on every character, so subpar guns become very vexing...

The problem with guns is there are always a few that are the best and you use them on every character, so subpar guns become very vexing... It's frustrating to me that this is the case for guns when it could so easily not be like that. As an example, think of all the ways guns in mea could have been made unique: - accurate when blind firing is part of why equalizer is a good gun. Why not expand that trait to say, eagle? Instead they just bump the damage per shot but it still falls short of rozerad/hurricane/silhesh. Accuracy when blindfiring is a huge benefit though that goes a long way to make an otherwise mediocre gun much better - innate piercing: me3 had some guns that imparted a small bit of piercing cover/armor by default. In mea piercing was nerfed to remove the armor bonus, it only pierces cover now, so why not give innate piercing to some of the underpowered guns?!? - firing on the run/out of cover: in general mea confers an accuracy penalty while moving, if some guns didn't have this problem but were not exactly top tier in dps it would go a long way to make them better for certain run and gun playstyles. I could go on but ultimately gun design in mea boils down to a few guns having top marks in multiple categories like rof, damage, magazine size, accuracy and spare ammo while other guns are lower in one or more category without anything unique to make up for it. Not to mention that variants should have just been a 3rd weapon mod slot instead of entirely new versions of each weapon..

They could have gone that way too and had a dizzying array of interesting hidden bonus stats and that would have made things a lot better wrt this problem.

As an aside the main problem with Soned is it's rarity. It would be totally fine if it was a rare gun instead of a UR. There'd be a lot of accuracy based builds using it and it would have a solid niche.

Now that I have PAW X and PAW Siphon I - I'm using them as main weapons both together if possible. If not, using Silhesh Siphon II as secondary. On some kits its Piranha Siphon II + PAW Siphon I as I've come to like Piranha much more than Shorty. It does massive damage next to enemy, Shorty can headshot from another side of the map yes.. but its not also Siphon yet for me
