This is kind of a new Mass Effect game

I've played Star Control and Starflight. Not sure I'd consider either of them a blue print for ME. Both games are quite fun but other than being space games they're not especially similar. Starflight did have that hideous wheel thing you had to use as a form of copyright protection.

Star Control had a "big bad" you had to fight, but nothing unusual. Earth locked behind a shield was very interesting. Starflight also had that, to some extent, but was much more focused on exploration. It is nice to see Star Control in the hands of the original creators given how bad SC3 was.

In any case, I'm not sure I want ME to be the same as SC. And if it were to be anything like Starflight, that sounds like a perfect entry for MEA2, where the AI starts exploring other clusters in Andromeda.

Original Star Control 2 was one of the best space exploration games out there, and still is. It still is better in discovering new things than ME, cause you actually do go out there and discover new things, like ruins, new alien races etc. It doesnt take itself as seriously as ME as theres a lot more humor, and you have to take it more as a tribute to the pulp science fiction of its/before its time. And how wonderfully variant its species are, some of the best "alien" aliens ive seen. Its almost criminal how this game never got any DECENT sequel in works(not counting Star Control 3, different makers, sucked), until perhaps now.

I doubt origins is even half as good as the original, but it might be better than ME Andromeda at least. Lets hope so.

This is the new mass effect game.

Might be worth a look, but I'd have to see how the characters and storyline are. This seems to be marketed as more of a strategy game than an RPG.
