I'm at the point in the game where I have to save the Grey Wardens in Fort Drakon. I chose Morrigan and Sten. Morrigan got me past the guard at the front door. But when I get deeper into the crypt I have to fight and I pick Sten, using Morrigan as my backup. The thing is I've never been any good with two handed warriors in DAO. Sten goes down quick leaving Morrigan vulnerable. Are there any tips or strategies when using two handed warriors like Sten or Ohgren?

Dexterity is not just for rogues.
It not only increases chance to hit (attack score) but it's also the primary attribute that builds your character's defense score, and helps them dodge some attacks altogether. Cunning contributes to armor penetration (which is direct damage), and is needed to learn higher-level skills, so some points invested in it are also useful.

Cunning contributes to armor penetration (which is direct damage), and is needed to learn higher-level skills, so some points invested in it are also useful. I knew about dexterity since my character, Alistair, Leliana and Zevran all have high dex. But I did not know about Cunning. I only put points into it to max out Coercion. It's too late now but I leveled both Sten and Ohgren by putting points into strength and constitution. Anyway I escaped Fort Drakon by escaping with Alistair. The first fight was tough, but for the rest I smooth talked my way out of there. But in my next playthrough I will keep your advice in mind.
