So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understood or mis-understood, the extended barrel as a damage boost in a weapon in ME3 makes sense as for a damage increase, because the rails are longer, thereore higher acceleration and force output?

Great video. Now we need to start working on that power source Which seems to be the biggest issue with tech nowadays anyway- how to get moar power and be less bulky and hot.

Great video. Now we need to start working on that power source Which seems to be the biggest issue with tech nowadays anyway- how to get moar power and be less bulky and hot. That's easy. Just pop down to your local Stark Industries retailer and pick up an arc reactor.......

The short answer is no because eezo and mass effect fields are imaginary. Hence, I disagree completely with the opening statement that they are more plausible than "laser beams and energy weapons."
They are of course railguns, so that part would work. The real question is whether you would get much or any wounding. Also small arms muzzle velocity in the series is so ambiguous as to range from what might be a nuisance to a tungsten particle beam. Various people have fooled around trying to estimate muzzle energies, but what you end up with just depends on what assumptions you use.

You could give our troops the harrier, but they are going to be really pissed about how many times they got to run back and pick up more ammo.

No, we need to get hotter. And that's where Asari matriarchs come in. That's all the power we need. Sure, it might come with some "bulky" chest size - but who am I to critisize that.

You could give our troops the harrier, but they are going to be really pissed about how many times they got to run back and pick up more ammo. "It isn't ammunition, Conrad." Anyway, I haven't watched the video (I have this weird thing about watching videos with people talking I don't know), but the short answer is: "Not without learning how to manipulate mass." Railguns are a thing, although primitive, and we can improve them... but without ME-field equivalents, Mass Effect weapons (in both senses) will remain in the realm of science fiction.

So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understood or mis-understood, the extended barrel as a damage boost in a weapon in ME3 makes sense as for a damage increase, because the rails are longer, thereore higher acceleration and force output? That's exactly right! It's been ages since I've discussed any of this... just reminds me how much I love the ME lore. For the most part, you just change one thing from reality (add element zero), and everything else falls into place. Being able to manipulate mass allows for so many possibilities... plenty of which the team hasn't even thought of yet Now, I doubt we'll find any eezo lying around, but we may yet find another way to manipulate mass on the fly. It would be one of the most revolutionary advancements humanity would ever make, that's for sure.

It would be one of the most revolutionary advancements humanity would ever make, that's for sure. The Mass Effect Lore is really very detailed in some cases, considering it's partially based on science (or theories) and can be very convincing, if we make enough effort to imagine the pivotal details that fill the gaps in discussed scientific hypothesis. Then it all starts to make sense. I was surprised with the video, mainly because I found a few posts on the old bsn, where people were bashing the idea of extended barrel as a damage booster, what actually would make sense in a weaponry, only as an accuracy enhancer.

The world does not need any weapons. :s In fiction? ok. In real life? no and never. Nonsense. If not for weapons, man would still be at the middle rung of the food chain. So if someone, bigger or stronger than you decides to take what you have or decides to put those you love in danger, you want to have no way to defend yourself? That's ignorant hippy liberal bullshit.

The low tier was High Caliber Barrel, and top tier being Scram Rail (whatever scram is supposed to be in that case... doubt it is safety control rod axe man or supersonic combustion ram).
