What does it take to unlock ultra rare items? I have maxed all my gear, but hardly have been able to get my ultra rare weapons leveled up. Most of them are still level 3 or 4 with some below that and only 3 above that. Keep buying packs and all I gate is rare ammo in a row. Tire of this. I want to play with the M7 Lancer, but I don't even have that unlocked even after 470 hours of game play.

It's random. The drop rates are low. If you keep buying packs, you'll get what you want eventually.
It sucks, I know.

Drop rate is 10% (1 ultra rare every 10 premium/arsenal/reserves pack), it sucked for all of us.... just keep buying, only positive is it wont give anymore of the ultra rare weapons you max out, so it will be lancer eventually :-P

It's about 800 to 1000 hours to max URs.

It's about 800 to 1000 hours to max URs. If you're lucky. Or if you farm credits on Plat. My first manifest took me 1690 hours, with a mere 4 Plat games for Lodestar. The second a/c still needs 68 URs with almost 800 (mostly Gold) hours already clocked, while my third needs 127 with just over 400 hours played, and no Saber as yet. The latter two have been consistent in their purchasing - no Premium packs until all my Rares were maxed, and then pretty much nothing but Arsenal Packs. I play 95% of my games on Gold, as fun is more important to me than Plat credits. I think NinjaSuperiority's '10%' assessment is high. My memory may be hazy but I think it's closer to an average of 7% probability for each UR slot, with the proviso that random is random. There are no MEA-like 'safeguards' built in, as far as anyone has ever been able to tell.

You can see for yourself how each packs actually works hereWhen it comes to guns, each 99k draws 2 cards that have a 7.5% chance of giving an ultrarare weapon each. Which if my math is not wrong it means you have a 15% chance of getting one UR gun per 99k pack. In practice it means around 800 hours for a maxed manifest

IIRC it took me nearly the same number of hours as you for my first manifest, with a handful of Platinum games as well. I spent a lot of time on Bronze learning the ropes before moving up to Silver briefly and then on to Gold. Second manifest was a tad faster at just under 38 hours. Not crazy enough to try a third manifest.

Admittedly it takes quite a while to max out the URs but imo to many consider that to be the purpose of the game instead of focusing on all the fun games required to get there. Some of the best guns in the game are Rare (GPS, Arc etc) and some URs kind of suck (hello Geth Spitfire)

It just takes a long time. I've played over 900 hours on PS3 and I still have Lancer I even though I unlocked the damn thing when Reckoning first came out. And that includes spending lots of real money as well as credits. Store is just a troll.

Its basically what i'm saying. 4th and 5th slot of reserves/arsenal/premium have a 7,5% chance of dropping one, so if you do the math its 10% in plain words. There was once a poll where all that participated bought a big amount of a certain pack each one for a fairly long run, just to see which pack drops more often so we know what to buy. I remember the result being 10% for reserves/arsenal and they basically outscored premium spectre for 3-4% something, lol !!!

10% is not correct. It's something like 12.5% of at least one, with 2.5% of two, something like that, my statistics is very rusty. Definitely not 10% though. I'd trust whatever Mgamerz says on this, he's the one who found the actual drop rates.

I think it took me 1293 hours to max my manifest, but it has been so many years since I maxed my manifest.....
When I went about it, I did it somewhat wrong. I did not max my rares and move on, for instance. If I had worked on maxing out my common, uncommon, rare and ultra rares in order I would have been more efficient. Back in those days I did not really care though, as I was playing for QUITE a while each day.
Now I am sitting at 3545 H, 7 M, 17 S played with 13,143 games played and 195,674,663 Credits.
The point is, play to have fun, and the rest will follow.

I'd trust whatever Mgamerz says on this, he's the one who found the actual drop rates. I thought it was about 8% chance per an ultra rare slot and you have 2 ultra rare slots in each 99k pack. I personally used the rule of thumb for every 6-7 99k packs you buy you get on average 1 ultra rare. You can have dry and wet spells, I think once I brought 31 packs and only got 2 ultra rares, brought 6 packs and got 4 ultra rares. Boo to RNG.

It should be : 1 - (1-7.5%)*(1-7.5%)=14.4375% Let me explain a little further. If: A= get UR, B= no UR, there will be 4 combinations with 2 slots= AA, AB, BA, BB. Which means only BB = you get nothing, all the other three results means you get at least one UR. Since each slot you have 92.5% chance getting no UR items, the chance you get result BB is 92.5%*92.5%=85.5625%, the rest would be easy to understand, 1-85.5625% =14.4375% = the chance of AA+AB+BA = the chance you get at least one UR. But, again, this is just calculated in theory, I have also heard some tests suggest a different "real" drop rate, so....

I want to play with the M7 Lancer The sad part is that, if I remember right, the Lancer has big stability problems at rank I. I think you have it get it up around VI before its potential starts to reveal itself. I haven't used it much, though, and not since I ranked it up.

I learnt all this stuff over 30 years ago but the amount of weed I've consumed in the meantime has reduced my capacity to be arsed remembering the theory. It's nice to see it plainly laid out. But I'm now pondering the probability of an ABBA Christmas Number One single. Higher than the chances of unlocking a UR in Mass Effect, undoubtedly.

Well, I don't want to get into numbers, but I'm sure almost everyone here have had a feeling, when their buddy unlocked a couple of URs and they got only Cryo and/or Stabilization Module Fortunately, those days are long gone for me.. Also I remember early days, in 2012, when people were being screwed over by lolOrigin..
