Anyone ever kind of wish for a more 70s sci fi aesthetic? Perhaps our next character (Ryder or whoever) has a ship that is larger but could carry the tempest on it? Basically I was looking at Chris Foss and Ridley Scott art. I know Syd Mead was a big influence on locations like the citadel. But Foss has some great, although larger and less sleek, ship designs that look spectacular. I guess I see a game like Andromeda 2 being more exploratory and relying less on a Nexus hub, and more on a ship, like the original Nostromo designs. I always like theorizing on the future, anyone else have some sci fi art and influences they'd like to see implemented?

I'd rather stick to sleek. I always loved the extreme sleekyness about Mass Effect. The Normandy SR1 remains my favorite spaceship design over all media to this date. Keep it sleek.

I was fine with the sleek look of Andromeda.
One thing to rain on your parade is that I would not want to have a larger ship because that would probably mean there are areas of "my" ship that I would not be able to travel to and explore because it was never created or areas that are so big they feel underused and unnecessary for what my ship needs.

Yeah I agree. Biggest problem when you create something big in s game is you hardly see all of it. In KOTOR you could tell that several areas were designed to be bigger but they were limited due to the technical limitations of the Xbox. In ME the Citadel was a big station that obviously had a lot of areas not created. You could likely spend a whole game’s budget on rendering the whole thing. The Nexus was similar but they handled it well imo. I do like the sleek design.

True it would be large. It would even have a hangar Bay for the tempest! I was viewing it as more of a portable hub, a deep space vessel for extended journeys. I would hope all areas would be fully accessable and fleshed out, as the soonest a new ME game would arrive will be next gen. They could do it but I suppose they could skimp on a few areas. It could be armed as well,if they don't modify the tempest. The Nexus was alright but I can't imagine being six clusters away and having to turn back to go talk to Tann or Addison because there is a problem they can't solve... I really liked Andromeda, my next playthrough will be my seventh, but another game set there will be the third reboot in the series. I usually think about what they could do next. Also, I like Syd Mead and wouldn't get rid if that style, I'm just...adding to it.

I just don't see the benefit of going to that extreme unless they are bringing all the leaders along, but at the same time it felt like the majority of the Tempest and even the Hyperion barely felt explored. If they are sending us out to the frontier to explore I would expect maybe a ship a little bigger then the Tempest, but only in the way that the Normandy compared to the Normand SR2. The majority of what we do on the Nexus aside from being the hub for the leadership is already on the Tempest, so going to the extreme of making another ship to dock on just for the sake of being there doesn't seem to solve the problems that were encountered in Andromeda where they were trying to do so much in a standard development window.

I like Mass Effect’s clean, sleek aesthetic. I’ve never been a fan of clunky looking SciFi. I’d say I even tolerate the clunkiness of SW, rather than enjoying it. This “70s SciFi” is ugly stuff.

We'd have to take Nexus leadership with us!? Noooooooo forget I said anything. At first I offered beige and Black Sabbath, now I see horror. I can see them modifying the tempest for further exploration.

The only way to introduce something totally different to ME would be to introduce totally alien cultures, like they did with the Kett. If they wanted to introduce that blocky, dark industrial look, it would need to come from some entirely alien culture. The clean, sleek designs are definitely more my taste. They look and feel like they came from a more developed society that has moved beyond blocky and industrial.
