Hello people! Took a longish break playing lesser games only to come back now - and all is well! Game is going on strong, lobbies are full and floor textures are still my best friend. Went pugging and digging gold, and lo and behold the first arsenal pack gives THE VENOM. Ok, I’m playing my second alt with quite fresh manifest so I’ve had it before, but I’ve always been too scrubby to use it well. The Venom’s got lots of good things about it: awesome sound, wonderful staggers, nice damage, wonky projectiles. Wanna learn to master it! Gimme the pro tips, thank you!

Charge the venom only vs mooks.Don't charge vs the bosses. Also many players think that it works only if you aim at the ground.Sometimes is better to aim at the enemies body, especially when they are in group.Venom is love,Venom is life.

The Venom, like all weapons with a charge-up mechanic, can be charged and even fired mid-sprint. It works for both fully charged shots as well as uncharged. Have fun.

Equip the Venom. Rethink your lifes choices. Equip the High Lord. Profit. I was thinking the exact same thing. Wording might have been different, but thought was the same. Seriously though... I have no idea how to use this thing. I know it's supposed to be good but every time I equip it I want to switch it as soon as I see glowing balls coming out of it that don't scream "we are doing massive damage to the enemy" and I always think of a broken ball machine. You know, these things they use for tennis practice - just not functioning properly.

My L2Venom issue is that it feels very situational. With other guns I have some idea of how much damage they deal depending on mods, consumables and character. The Venom seems like a lottery ticket at times. A few shots and it clears a goon rush or a couple of Phantoms. Or, a few shots and I end up with a sword in the belly

Krogan Soldier, Phasic Ammo (ruins shields, doesn't interfere with Ryncol), Grenade Gear and full Carnage Spam for 6x6 FE. Goons and Phantoms turn the other way to fight something easier. Always have your gun charged... Hunter sneaks up, or Phantom, you pop one at their toes (charged shot will stagger), then rapid fire the remaining clip at their feet and toes. If you want to go full Kraft, use Incendiary ... Favorite use is still by far the no-DM Destroyer... That is the funniest kit in the game to me

I absolutelly love Claymore, but can samoeone explain to me how the heck you can call it "High Lord"?A weapon which is totally helpless vs phantoms on host. They just laugh on him.High Lord should destroy everything with no exceptions. For example Black Widow is both destructive and stylish or Widow. They deserve much more that title.Venom is not stylish, but rules vs everything.I love Claymore because requires skills, but can't call it "High Lord".

Doesn't this term date back to Mass Effect 2? Long before MP and phantrolls were a thing. Anyways, the Claymore has some downsides and isn't perfect but it just feels and sounds right, heavy, powerful, devastating. It's stylish and classy, so it's just the king of the shotguns even though other weapons in that category might be more versatile and better suited for some kits (you can basically put a Wraith on any kit as a no-brainer choice for example, but you know that...).

The Claymore never had the problem of getting through the enemies shield gates before phasics and a partial damage bypass for the shield gate was added. Shotguns, with their ability to bypass the shield gate, due to only one pellet being affected by it, reign supreme over everything back in the early MP days and the Claymore, due to its high damage, was just the best one for the job and as a Rare weapon relativly easy to get to a decent level. And if I remember correctly the Wraith was buffed a bit at some point. Those things could explain the Calymore obsession a bit. Also Krogans (, FQE) and 300-M . That might be a reason aswell.

There are weapons which are also heavy, stylish and classy, but everyone has that Claymore obsession. That's the interesting part.Widow is a part of ME lore before phantoms and multi too,but very few people like it.At least not at that level. Like I mentioned before I think that Claymore "name" was already a thing before MP and ME3 and just got a bit out of hand to the point where it's sometimes actually meant this way and other times also used as kind of a meme. The Claymore also basically initiated the whole "reload cancelling"-debate in ME2 because you really HAD TO learn how to reload cancel this beast. It's obviously useful for other weapons as well but things like biotic charging into the Colossus on Insanity during Tali's recruiting mission were unthinkable without proper reload cancelling so the Claymore made a name for itself back then. I loved the Widow just as much in ME2 and it might even be on that same level today within the community if it wasn't for what Balbock was saying: shield gate annoyance in ME3 which basically killed off single shot sniper rifles until phasic rounds came around. I remember being totally frustrated during my first SP playthrough. On top of that they introduced the Javelin which is super awesome from design to sound to damage and wallhax and the Black Widow. Otherwise the Widow might also be called some funny name nowadays I think. Personally I see the "High Lord" term mostly as a meme, even though I totally love the Claymore. But for overall usefulness I'd put the Wraith over the Claymore as well. Still I prefer to use the Claymore whenever I can but I wrote in some other thread how I once equipped ALL kits with the Wraith as default starting weapon.

Yeah, mostly use high lord as a meme, though as far as shotties is concerned, it is my absolute fav. Also, give me the Widow over the Black Widow all day everyday.

Yeah, mostly use high lord as a meme, though as far as shotties is concerned, it is my absolute fav. Also, give me the Widow over the Black Widow all day everyday. I remember, munching me Pepperidge Farms... I entered a lobby years ago, with my trusty Level 1 SI, one point in TacCheat and one in Erectile Dysfunction, with M98 Phasic, Targeting VI 4, Operative Package, some other useless consumable. Had two kick votes almost immediately from players with much lower N7/CP. People still used mics then, so I mic'd up - "I won't harm the team and will probably be on top of the scoreboard." I would have kicked me, hearing that, but they let me stay, and I ended up soloing waves 4, 7 & 9 and absolutely crushed the scoreboard... We had drawn Cerberus, and I had multiple double/triple kills in that game including multiple double Guardians (still a favorite). Damage is king! Single shot weapons are loved because they are powerful and take some sort of skill to use. They reward you for your effort.

If observing Venom experts has taught me anything, it's that efficient use of the Venom requires firing it in proximity to someone sniping with a scope!

Venom is pretty fun. I really like using it on the asari valkyrie. Run in close with a charged shot, fire, any survivors just hit with warp while annihilation field is active, get a biotic boom to finish off, then laugh. Repeat.
