What makes Commander Shepard a good role model for older teens? What would you think of a paragon Commander Shepard who would speak at the United Nations condemning torture?
I knew a guy who played Mass Effect 1 and 2 before becoming a military officer.
Would you show the females of this school FemShep when they get older?
or even Sara Ryder?

I mean I guess there are traits and qualities that are admirable but not anymore so than any other fictional character or figure. I mean Superman or Batman have good qualities that impressionable youngsters could possible pick up on. But I'd hardly model life standards off of them. I liken it to Aesop's fables. Like here's a hint "It's nice to be nice." Or "Don't be a smart ass." But in the end it's fiction. And I'd hardly use the Boy Scout of a videogame about killing people, having sex with aliens, and beating up giant robots teach teens about life. Let's leave that to real people, like Lil Pump and Kylie Jenner.

How does a "Boy scout" video game hero compare to video game characters like Duke Nukem or Marcus Fenix?

No, not a good role model simply because your idea of Paragon Shepard and my idea of Paragon Shepard very likely differ. The game is not about blindly going through it sticking to upper left or right responses and calling that Paragon. Most of those responses do not yield any actual points, so they can perfectly well be interpreted as "neutral" responses just placed in different locations on the dialogue wheel. Changing your selections p often does not affect your paragon or renegade score, but it does affect the sort of "paragon" your individual Shepard becomes.
First and foremost, the Mass Effect Trilogy is a game, not some sort of morality instructional device.

What makes Commander Shepard a good role model for older teens? What would you think of a paragon Commander Shepard who would speak at the United Nations condemning torture? Define "good role model". For example, my Shepard always pushes the merc out the window during Thane's recruitment mission. Didn't have to be that way. If Shepard took the shot with Udina rather than A/K, does that make Shepard a bad person? Does it make A/K bad? Though I prefer to save the rachni queen, it's not out of bounds to recall that the only way to defeat them was to uplift the krogan. If they breed too fast, or a future queen as not as nice as this one, we might be looking at another rachni war. Which was the actual paragon choice? The one that only thinks of now or the one who considers a seriously possible future threat? I don't really think any Shepard is a good role model for teens. Video game characters don't have to deal with the consequences of their actions in any meaningful way. Not so of people in real life.

Err... Shepard's not a role model. Not even "Goody Two Shoes" Paragon Shepard.

Pah, my role model in those years was the one and only Captain Jean-Luc Picard. I don't see Shepard holding a candle o that guy.
