Thanks, I just spam overload whenever possible. Maybe the timing being off is why it doesn't always work. I assumed the burning effect would last for a bit after the flamethrower is done. Apparently not. I'll keep that in mind! In addition to @bestvolussupportau's tips I also noticed you saying you're enjoying the GPSMG - apart from the Jugg the GE is the only character I would ever use it on, and while I will get more damage than you from Hunter Mode, I completely understand you not using it. Either way, Incendiary ammo will add to your overall fun and Fire Explosion output rate. It's worth bearing in mind that you can (and often should) use soft cover to your advantage by beginning to shoot before you expose yourself to enemy fire, allowing the GPSMG to ramp-up to full power. The fact that you presumably have full shields might make this slightly less helpful, but is still worth bearing in mind.

And to add to it, if you haven't tried it already, the Tempest (or Geth Pulse Rifle if you want to be more lore-y) is a great gun for the Geth Engineer. Personally, I'd run either no passive (using Hunter mode as an "alternative passive") or passive/turret, which would give hunter mode's accuracy bonus, making the Tempest an absolute beast. Especially with Incendiary or Disruptor ammo, for the extra explosions. And then when you get it, Hurricane plays exactly the same way, just with about 4x the damage, and 5x the ammo problems Or, you can use Overload+Mantis, which is also a hell of a lot of fun. Overload to strip shields and stun/stagger, Mantis headshot to finish them off. As for the Geth Infiltrator, Geth Plasma Shotgun is a lore-friendly alternative (also good for scaring team members, because hunters are scary, rage-inducing monsters), whilst Piranha is an absolute beast on him (again, the hunter mode accuracy thing). Claymore is fun, but punishing, if you miss, you die, but also massive one-hit-kill potential. Talon is a widely considered OP option on him too, although I personally found it underwhelming. GI makes an amazing Shotgun infiltrator, just need to practice the Proxy Mine stun, shotgun cleanup method. Or, Javelin GI is crazy too, doesn't even need fitness, hides in corners, with piercing mods, kill enemies through pretty much every wall in the game. Oh, and if your problem with hunter mode is the white overlay and not the red highlighting, there are texture mods out there for PC, that whilst a little annoying to get working, completely remove the white crap from your screen, allowing you to benefit from the skill, without the eyebleed. Not trying to force you to use hunter mode or anything (wow, I sounded like a fanboy here), just trying to offer alternatives, even without hunter mode, the Geth Enginner is great, Tempest is still amazing on him (Also on the TSol, if you haven't tried it). Don't underestimate the Tempest because it's "only an uncommon", it's a tiny beast.

Speccing out of Hunter Mode on any Geth is a crime against huma...ehh...toasteranity. The wallhax and speed are too amazing to skip. Speed alone is too good.

I take issue with the 'any Geth'-part of your statement, HVSC. For instance, when running the Geth Trooper Soldier with the highly-effective Acolyte-only build, there's little sense in putting points into Hunter Mode because the associated extra accuracy and rate-of-fire gained from doing-so will have little effect. It's better IMO to fully spec into flamer (taking Reach, Damage and Armour damage), into Fortification (taking Durability, Power Synergy and Durability), into Networked AI (taking Damage and Capacity, Power Damage and Weapon Damage) and Advanced Hardware (taking a full-health build); then he can forego using a Cyclonic Modulator (as he hasn't suffered losing half his base shields through taking HM) and equip a Power Amplifier instead -- which will alllow him to obliterate armour (of which there's plenty in Gold and even more in Plat'). As to your point about 'wallhax,' I always take the Geth Scanner with this build because situational awareness is priceless. I find that I can live without the 20% speed-boost from HM. Merry Chrimbo.

Merry X-Mas everyone... All this talk of not using Hunter Mode, using Flamethrower Turrets and utilizing inferior weapons like the GPSMG made my Geth Engineer cry tears of grease yesterday because it thinks some of YOUR Geth might have caught a virus So I played some games yesterday with the Geth Engineer and have uploaded two games. The first one was hosted by me ( obbie1984 take notice because of Phantoms) and only 1 random player joined for most of the match. I miss a few shots here and there and don't bother getting up at the end but it shows the capabilities of this unit very well I guess. Not much trouble with Phantoms unless I fail to aim and hit them right. My Geth unit apologizes, apparently Garrus wasn't done with the calibrations. The second game is a bit better in that regard The second match was with fellow uBSN members docsteely and Sonashii plus a random PUG. That game was hosted by docsteely ( obbie1984 take notice again, this match was played offhost opposed to the first one). Unfortunately it's Firebase Giant again. I recorded both games vs. Cerberus because in my option they are the hardest enemy faction for this build because of Phantoms and Dragoons. Versus Geth it's pretty easy with this excact build and versus Reapers and Collectors also. You might try using AP IV Ammo instead vs. the latter two factions to take down the heavy armored units faster (but you lose out on one-shotting Collector Captains and Marauders and take down Banshee Barriers slower so Phasic Rounds are good vs. them as well). Versus Cerberus or Geth using Phasic Rounds is always best in my personal experience. Also: I've seen many players being afraid of equipping heavy weapons because of longer cooldowns. It's all a matter of playstyle. You can see I even have the High Velocity Barrel equipped that puts +50% additional weight on the already heavy Javelin and I can still use Overload fairly often and it helps out in sticky situations. The build in the videos looks like this: GETH ENGINEEROne more thing about the videos again: keep in mind that I play in front of a 34" ultrawide 21:9 monitor with a native resolution of 3440x1440px - depending on what device you watch the video (for example something like a 16:9 tv, monitor or even mobile device) it will probably all look super small and the FOV seems super crazy. Sonashii said to me I must be crazy playing like this. But right in front of the monitor it is perfect, it only might look strange on other devices. I watched one of these videos at a friend's place on his 16:9 FullHD TV and I was like "I could never play like this". But I did because it looks perfect ony my screen. regack will probably understand and be able to watch these videos in full resolution and without borders Anyways... have fun and a merry X-Mas. And check your Geth Units for viruses

It´s christmas mode which rules today ... Oh yeah? then tell these bunnies about it: Harrumph! As Christmas approaches, so worry encroaches on Santa: he'll normally stay upbeat and rejoicing, but this year is voicing concern for what's coming his way. Disheartened by clamour, the kids' constant yammer, for prezzies has gotten Claus gruff, most reindeer and elves keep their thoughts to themselves, deducing when Nick's had enough. But Rudolph, Oh dear! is determined this year to booze Chrimbo straight up the wall, he couldn't care less for the kiddies' distress and holds all that's horrid in thrall; He plagues and bedevils and secretly revels in scheming that Yuletide should flop, he's decidedly mean and obsessively keen on seeing festivity stop. Merry Christmas

Versus Cerberus or Geth using Phasic Rounds is always best in my personal experienc That was some good shooting overall. I liked how you controlled the map with the Geth Engineer. I was a bit weary of using heavier weapons, but after speaking with you and a few others I have been experimenting and know what you mean. I will have to save your second video for later but your first video was pretty entertaining. I have my Geth Engineer built just like yours. Hunter Mode/Overload. Hunter Mode is simply too useful not to use. I don't have any points in the turret. The difference is, I use Geth Plasma Shotgun with my Geth Engineer. I gave the Javelin a try a few times but I think I was still bad with the Javelin back then. I am much better with the gun now so I will give it another shot. Though you made Javelin/Geth Engineer look easy. But I should also point out that the Geth Engineer is one of the characters that I don't have issues with Phantoms. Because Overload drains barriers and a charged Geth Plasma Shotgun wipes them out. But the Javelin likely works better because you can keep Phantoms away. What gives me issues with the Geth Engineer is Marauders and Collectors Captain. One burst from their guns and my Engineer turns into a tin can even with maxed out defenses. Either way, I'm going to give Geth Engineer with Javelin a try next time I play. Thanks for the videos.

Most of the things 3 shot you anyway, so a smidgen of shields is not as useful as a wall between you and the baddies.

I also wanted to mention I used several different shotguns with the Fury and all of the ones I used provided a unique, interesting, and diverse playstyle. I love this character so much more now. I was trying out the Piranha again too. I forgot how good that gun is for her. But now I got the Raider, Venom, Crusader, Piranha, and Claymore. All interesting and fun to use with her.
I was also experimenting on fighting Phantoms without the Acolyte or Venom. I was relatively successful with several of the tips provided here. I just needed to grow a pair and try to fight them without them. I never liked the Acolyte but thought it was a necessary gun if you are host against Phantoms. But it seems I don't need it for the Fury anymore. But in a game or two Dragoons were messing me up. Maybe I just got too used to the Venom just stun locking them.

Most of the things 3 shot you anyway, so a smidgen of shields is not as useful as a wall between you and the baddies. I suppose you're making the mistake of generalising when what I gave was a specific example. And in the example that I gave, the Acolyte strips any mook or mid-level boss of their shields in a single shot and then the flamer has them writhing and unable to return fire: so what you say about cover in that instance is erroneous. As to strafing, he cannot strafe effectively with flamer on the go as his movement is reduced to a crawl. Yes, when taking a boss on it's good to nip in and out of cover whilst stripping their shields with a few Acolyte shots, and using cover's wise too while melting a boss's armour with flamer; it makes sense to abuse LH advantage like there's no tomorrow with any character that I can think of. Anyway, horses for courses and all that, an Acolyte-only Geth Trooper IMO and in my experience functions better without HM.

I'm used to the heavier Claymore on power kits as well and can make them work most of the time (on the Quarian Engineers for example) but with the Fury I can't properly manage the timings it seems and Wraith works better for me.

I personally don't understand the urge to turn any kit into a heavy weapon platform... But then again I don't usually enjoy shooters. I run close to 200% cooldown on power kits so that I can spam them.
I try not to skip a power unless it feels completely useless or looks like shit like hunter mode.
Even if a power combo is not ideal on some kits I like working with what I have, not turn it into yet another weapon build.
But each to their own! That's the beauty of this game. It allows people to play how they want.

I run close to 200% cooldown on power kits so that I can spam them. It's a perspective thing I guess. In my opinion powers are nice and all but in this particular case they are mostly an addition to the 3rd person shooting system underneath. Having some fun with them, debuffing enemies, stripping shields, stunning some enemies, harassing them... whatever. But in the end the real damage is done by weapons mostly. Especially if you look at it from a Platinum gameplay point of view. That doesn't mean that powers can't be... well, powerful (no pun intended) - especially in a synergetic team setup. But I have seen so many PUGs struggle with their kits relying mostly on the powers and not killing enemies fast enough while I kill 2, 3 or 4 enemies in the same amount of time during a hack or escort. I also play some kits with lighter weapons, the aforementioned Wraith X being a perfect example for that. But a weapon needs to make an impact in a short amount of time... 1 or 2 shots. And not shoot silly balls or something

And not shoot silly balls or something I get the efficiency angle. To me that's mostly irrelevant however. I want to have fun. And as long as the mission is successful I don't care if it takes me a bit longer to kill stuff. No point building a crazy damage output character when it's zero fun to play. This time around I'm playing with friends. So we usually try to complement each other's powers. We are fairly slow, gold matches take about 25-28min. But that's fine. We're having a blast. We often do themed matches too. All vorcha, all krogan, all asari etc. All Valkyrie is especially fun! But even when I was pugging it on Xbox I did as well as everyone else. Some of the skilled infiltrators outclass everyone else of course. But I never felt like power builds were inferior. In fact the fastest games were usually an all biotics team.

Since you play with friends, I suggest at least once running Glacier with Snap Freeze (preferably Paladin) and Electric Slash or Shockwave, both with Geth Scanner equipped, on a more open map, triple chain overload works even better, but on Glacier, hitting through walls for multiple detonations can make for some very fast Gold matches (and usually gives non-missile killstreaks, especially vs Geth).

Merry X-Mas everyone... All this talk of not using Hunter Mode, using Flamethrower Turrets and utilizing inferior weapons like the GPSMG made my Geth Engineer cry tears of grease yesterday because it thinks some of YOUR Geth might have caught a virus Anyways... have fun and a merry X-Mas. And check your Geth Units for viruses
Looks fine watching the videos as full-screen on the UW monitor

I personally don't understand the urge to turn any kit into a heavy weapon platform... But then again I don't usually enjoy shooters. I run close to 200% cooldown on power kits so that I can spam them. I try not to skip a power unless it feels completely useless or looks like shit like hunter mode. Even if a power combo is not ideal on some kits I like working with what I have, not turn it into yet another weapon build. But each to their own! That's the beauty of this game. It allows people to play how they want. Don't call me weird, but for some reason, I like seeing female characters with heavier/two handed weapons. I don't understand it myself but it makes them more.... attractive to me. I like seeing the Fury with a bigger gun than with a puny pistol or SMG. Like the Krogan say "pistols not gonna cut it." I don't usually save Ash on Virmire, but the one of the few times I did to romance her, I liked seeing Ash with a Black Widow or a Typhoon or something.

It's not weird, a badarse woman will ALWAYS be more attractive than a whiny, puny, wimp That's why my femsheps ALWAYS headbutt that pyjak, Uvenk, on Tuchunka in ME2.

Life in general (and women in particular ) is difficult enough to understand already. That's why my approach to a problem is usually the same. Whether I go with a Krogan or a female character, a shotgun-to-the-face solves a lot of things. To add a bit of variety to the headbutt/backhand, I like to equip the Bat gauntlet on characters like the QFI. "Oh, but she's just a vulnerable little girl in an enviro suit". Very fun when her melee can actually measure up to the big boys. For my part it's not so much a male/female thing. It's just gratifying to put a big gun on a character which at 1st glance seem counter intuitive and find out you can be successful with that kit, like a Volus with the Saber, Typhoon or Javelin.

I see where you guys are coming from. But it is a female thing for me. Usually in most promotions, advertisements, of anything action related in media you see a burly dude with a heavy weapon usually. You most of the time see the girl with a sleek pistol/sniper rifle because she is usually not in direct combat. Not sure if you guys ever played Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but I always liked the fact that Rachel was a berserker type character with a giant sword. And yes, simple works. I just like girls with shotguns. Again, not sure why. Oh and I always headbutt Uvenk as well. Regardless of gender. The Quarian females are adorable, but I never thought to put Batarian Gauntlet on them. Must give it a try myself. I did it with the Fury once.
And speaking of burly dudes, I know from my experience people love the Destroyer with the Typhoon (its one of the most common builds and character I see), but why do I never see the Turian Soldier? I think in some ways he is better with the Typhoon. He has better stability, good DPS, and concussive shot is super fast, useful, and spammable. It also makes Phantoms easier to deal with. I ran Turian Soldier with this gun and nothing was really an issue with him. He's tanky as well.
Also, after playing a bit more, I think Fury with the Crusader/Raider might be my favorite build now. I give slight edge to the Crusader because its a little bit more fun to use.
