On just about every playthrough I've done, I always have 50% or less milky way data compared to heleus or remnant data. Any idea why that is? Why is it so hard to find things that reward milky way research?
Makes it very difficult to keep my milky way weapons or armor sets up to rank. My current playthrough I have the reegar and valkyrie at rank 5, ghost at rank 3, and about half of the augments researched for milky way, and I'm out of points - but for heleus I have rank 5 angara armor, rank 5 heleus icon armor, rank 5 rozerad and ushior, all of the augments, and I still have like 800 research points. I'm over 2k on remnant research points right now with just the cryo gauntlet and augments researched.
When I get around to doing new game + with this run, I need to have enough milky way research to cover a hyperguardian armor set and asari sword, and at this point that isnt looking possible.

Are you scanning everything? For example, at Sites 1 and 2 on Eos, pretty much everything is scannable - buildings, equipment, vehicles, etc. Also, are you exploring each system and scanning all the anomalies? A lot of those will give you MW research points. I think you'll find more MW stuff to scan on Kadara and Elaaden, since that is where the majority of non-Nexus AI people are located. Scavenger stuff, for example. I pretty much run around with my scanner out full time.

Aside from the plethora of random stuff lying around in various settlements, you can basically farm data from the Tempest console through both the APEX strike teams and the cryo-pod Science bonuses, which yield rewards on regular intervals. I ended up with hundreds of points of MW data at my disposal as a result.

Perhaps the problem (aside from the free points you get at intervals through Initiative perks) is that there is SO MUCH MORE Milky way stuff to research than Helius and ESPECIALLY Remnant gear. There are more MW weapons to build than everything else in Helius and Remnant combined.

I think the vast array of weapons is seriously undermined by the inability to give companions anything. Once I get a certain load out I really like, I seldom switch out, and end up with tons of weapons I’ll never use.

Usually in my case it's Remnant I tend to struggle most with but I tend to find enough to get what I want though in all cases.

Its all about going back to the tempest a lot. Its dumb design IMO, you are punishing people for playing the game, but every 30 minutes go back to the tempest and collect your research it adds up quick.
