Nice. The final boss of the stronghold seems to have that familiarity of Destiny’s basic strike boss, alternating between damage phase and add waves, except no silly immunity mechanic. It looks really bullet-spongy, but doesn’t look impossible to do solo, at least so long as ammo can be replenished during the fight. I’m just really curious now as to what the downtime portion really looks like when you’re not in a Javelin just walking around. Nice video, it confirmed a lot of points that i was sure would be in but i really don't like the bullet spoongines of the boss in destiny it was one the worst part of the game

Nice video, it confirmed a lot of points that i was sure would be in but i really don't like the bullet spoongines of the boss in destiny it was one the worst part of the game In fairness, I don’t know if this demo footage really gives us a meaningful look into the DPS we’re truly able to dish out. Like, in Destiny, there are some weapons, when used in concert with particular abilities or stacked on certain exotic armor perks that absolutely devastate yellow bars. In some instances my fireteam broke encounters that were designed specifically to have mutli-stage immunity portions because we took the health down too quickly. I just have a suspicion that I may be able to overlevel and wreck most bosses, albeit after a bit of intense grinding.

So far not really liking our crew. That one with the tattoos is really annoying. Different strokes. I thought he was the most interesting NPC shown so far, in any game at E3 anyway. For a minute there, I thought two different people were talking, but it was the same character. Now that's a backstory I want to know more about. A lot of people thought Mordin was annoying at first too.

The lead Colossus did some air-to-ground slams. It would be cool if the ground-pound did more damage the faster you were going when it was initiated, so you could up your damage by diving from high ground. Or maybe a melee/knockback attack where you fly at high speed at a target and basically ram it. Stuff like that would be great initiators and also incentive to move around mid-combat rather than just planting yourself in one place and acting like a bullet/ability spamming turret.

It's the only Javelin whose design I like so I'm going to stuck with that one. Yeah, both the guys on the crew have terrible dialogue. Can't really weigh in on the female team member just since we barely hear from her in the demo. The fact we are going to be stuck with them sucks.

Here are my notes made as I watched the clip. Sometimes I paused the clip to write more than one sentence.
Overly effusive team is annoying.
Facial animations are better than MEA, but still need work.
No unlimited jet-packing? (re: jets overheating)
Combat looks great.
Very good feel to the soundtrack. Hope it's the real soundtrack and not a placeholder.
Ground-pound!
World looks great, but the underwater sections could offer some truly unique visuals.
I know people have been repeatedly asking Mark Darrah on Twitter about whether the damage numbers can be turned off (they can), but I like them. Helps me optimize my build (same in the Borderlands games). They could be smaller, though.
Different animals at night versus during the day, very nice.
Explosions sound GREAT. Sound design is superb.
Rune discovery at 14:48 looks like a copy-and-paste of the glyphs in MEA for Remnant structures.
Swarm tyrant = bullet sponge, interspersed with horde mode. Not good. We've seen this sort of "boss" many times before; it was boring then and it looks boring now. (Also: looks like a spider with testicles on its back.)

Brenon Holmes confirmed on reddit that they upped the health on the Swarm Tyrant They generally won't be... we also deliberately had the Swarm Tyrant balanced a bit high for the demo - we didn't want anyone accidentally killing her (for the demo, we cut to the end cinematic on certain conditions 😊).

The damage numbers and the repetitive gameplay seemed pretty familiar - the game looks like DAI on guns. The suit should be able to do combat in full flight mode against regular sized baddies, or get into a hover battle. There are obvious advantages and disadvantages to both modes, and in hover mode you would be vulnerable to GTA attacks. Variety is the spice. I didn't see enough. Doesn't mean I am 0/10 fuk dis. There's a moment when the Ranger Javelin, as the team approaches the Ancient Guardian (the giant golem looking creature), fires its Missile ultimate while flying at it. You can also fire and hover at the same time.

It looks like the same "boss fight" we've been getting from BioWare for years: Fight the boss, horde mode, fight the boss, horde mode. I was hoping that with BioWare's apparent shift into making more action-oriented games we'd see some actual interesting boss design, but that doesn't look like it is happening.

Anyone else get the feeling that there's going to be a story emphasis on music and sound in Anthem? In the cinematic trailer we see during E3 it even has lyrics and everything, and Owen talks specifically about "silencing" the shaper relics, rather than "deactivating" (or just turning off), as well as the "Echoes of Creation." This may be just wishful thinking on my part that some actual care and depth has been put into the story/lore of this world.
Edit: I really hope there's some way to reduce the ambient noise of your jetpack without just turning down the volume. Seriously, that's gonna get REALLY annoying over dozens of hours of playtime flying around. To be fair though, I only noticed it on the colossus in this specific demo, so each javelin likely has different sfx.

Which part of Anthem of Creation* did you miss when they talked a bit more about the game lore back at EA Play? I can always try to find more although, it's mostly just mentioned as being something important to the plot. They didn't just pick the game name out of the blue as much as people believed back last year. Also, It's not the first time BioWare fixate on songs and musics...*cough*lyrium*cough* *It's the big glowy thing that they silence in the demo.
