I recently came back to the trilogy earlier this month. Started from 1 and am now up to Priority: Horizon in 3, of course with the same import (is there any other way to play? lol).
My copies of each game are independent releases, not part of any bundled trilogy thing. I bought 1 a year after release (I was in Iraq when it was released) on Steam, preordered (like an idiot) 2 on Steam, and ordered 3 on Origin within a month or so of release.
Last time it seems that I played 3 was back in 2014, and I was pretty active with multiplayer at the time, mostly to help with Readiness War Assets during that playthrough. Seems I promoted a few classes a number of times, 13 total promotions it seems.
Well, now 4 years later... No matter what else I do right or wrong in a new playthrough... I have an automatic (and, lol, unavoidable) 975 N7 Special Ops War Asset under Alliance.
So that's almost 1000 free War Asset, so even at 50% Readiness, that's still effectively almost 500 free War Asset.
Now, this might sound strange, but that feels kinda gamey to me right now. For future reference, is there a way to make ME3 not recognize my account's multiplayer progress?
I doubt there is, but just in case.
That one subfaction is greater than every single major faction I have right now; "Alien" comes close at 931. But that's an entire faction.
So to actually have something to discuss beyond "No, unless you make a new EA account you're stuck with it," what are your thoughts on the SP/MP design in ME3?
I like what was intended by it, to make it feel like this galactic war truly was more than just YOU, but before the Extended Cut's lowering of EMS for all endings, I never really liked how they "strongly encouraged" you to play MP to help bolster your SP. Granted, I obviously liked playing MP itself if I promoted classes 13 times to get an N7 Asset of 975 lol...

Change Origin to offline mode and the extra assets won't register. That's the only way I know other than, as you say, playing on a different account with no MP promotions.
