I'm thinking of another trilogy run and I'm trying out an XBox 360 controller with my laptop atm. I was wondering if any of you had experience comparing controllers to mouse and keyboard in any of the 3 games?

I haven't, but I thought ME3 at least doesn't have controller support on PC. One way to find out I guess

I use a controller for playing the entire trilogy on Xbox 360, and have played with a keyboard and mouse on PC for ME3 multiplayer.
There are some things I like keyboard and mouse for, and some things I prefer controller.
I have been gaming with a controller most of my life, so I am used to using a controller. Movement and some button presses are much easier on a controller. Mouse is the superior aiming mechanism and not even the most die-hard controller/console enthusiasts should dispute that fact.
Because I game mostly with a controller, I have a lot of issues with using WASD for movement and pressing some key actions. Since it is not as intuitive for me, I find I will move my hand to press a key, then fail get my fingers back correctly on the WASD. This got me killed several times in ME3MP sessions on PC. (I also played it on a crappy laptop so that also caused other issues).
KrrKs already provided you with the controller mods for the PC versions of the game.
Console versions of the game have aim assist, since they assume you are using a controller of some sort. I have no idea if the controller mods add aim-assit options or not. Of course, 'aim-assist' was inconsistent at times on the console versions of the game.

I'm currently using the controller for Watchdogs 2 and it is harder to aim, but it's also more relaxing and intuitive to move around the world. Worth a try in ME at least, I'll look at those mods.

Gaming on PC with a controller is great. You get to use the better control system for chilled gaming, and get to use a host of different mods (*cough* such as mine!). Best of both worlds!
