Yeah, I should stop ranting about Mass Effect 3, but as I said, I came late to the party and needed to vent about the utter stupidity of the ending. Anyway, on reddit, I was caught up in a discussion about the origin of the reapers: old.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/99camu/why_is_the_catalyst_appearing_as_the_boy/e4n5uip/And damn, I just realized how much this SUCKS. It's basically space terminator with giant squids. The storyline should have never went there. "We are eternal - organic life is an anomaly" and the "dark energy"-tidbit would have been a FAR better starting point than this trite Skynet territory. I just made this up within a minute: For some reason, the first life in the galaxy was indeed mechanical: The reapers (maybe because the planet had a really weird and unique ecosystem, or the galaxy in its early state allowed such a development, whatever). Organics can and do wield biotics, and all that causes the dark energy problem. The reapers witnessed horrific cataclysms because of that and were nearly wiped out multiple times. So they develop some grudge towards organics (explains their horrific creations like husks) and wipe them out every cycle to prevent these galaxy-wide enviromental catastrophes out of pure need for survival. But because they are not complete bastards, they harvest these civilizations and let their collective minds live in new reapers, made in their image. Now the endings of Mass Effect 3 with this could be the destruction of the reapers - but this would doom the galaxy in the long term (darkest ending), the purging of the biotic ability from all organics, or the stabilization of biotics, which would prevent the cataclysms (the perfect run). TIM's research into biotics and the extreme practices of Cereberus conducting the reseach (Jack's backstory) could be tied with that somehow. There it is, I've made that up within a minute. I consider this backstory a million times better than the convoluted organic/synthetic/let's ignore geth/EDI pseudo-conflict, saving by traumatizing madness, convoluted starchild/leviathan/skynet thing we have now. And I stand by this opinion. The writers went nuts by the time of Mass Effect 3.

You actually going to discuss topics or you just going to spam the forum with various rantings and never respond? Because so far you have made 5 threads and only actually gave a follow up reply to someone once.

Recommendation: Come up with a general thread title that would encompass all of those you created. Tag a moderator and ask them to merge all the threads. This will make it easier on everyone.
