Too bad I can't get Charge in ME2 as Soldier Shep. It's a great talent. Love the Charge/Nova combo in ME3 (also in MEA, right?). Anyway, I'm committed to Soldier Shep. Starting to see talents in ME1 that I'd never before noticed. Prime with Seismic Nova or Shockwave and Charge (MEA)

Put simply, only the Vanguard, Sentinel, and Adept are referenced as being a biotic (nothing more specific than that). I know that Kaidan references it in ME1 if you talk to him, but since I've only played ME1 as a Vanguard or Sentinel, I didn't know that was a bug for Infiltrator, Engineer, or Soldier players.
I don't know anything about Kelly saying anything in ME2.
Traynor mentions how "if it had been around 20 years ago, I bet you'd have been there!" (Grissom Academy) if Shepard is, again, a Vanguard, Sentinel, or Adept.
Shepard can mention how their biotics have gotten stronger if they side with Kaiden/Liara/Jacob/Miranda over James during the party. "C'mon, we're talking about harnessing dark energy here, Vega."
Bonus powers do not net any additional dialogue, but they do open up some cool roleplaying if you've a mind for it. One of my favorite little "head-canons" is an Infiltrator-class Shepard who is a latent biotic but never received any training, which was mechanically reflected in having Slam as their bonus power.
As a Vanguard/Sentinel proponent, if biotics matter that much for story/dialogue purposes, then select either Vanguard, Sentinel, or Adept as your class.

I love Vanguard but I'm also enjoying this Soldier run. If you can headcanon a latent biotic Infiltrator than why not a Soldier be the same? Maybe it's one of the Alliance's best kept secrets since everyone who sees it ends up a splatter on the floor.

It's a shame, I was looking to maybe play as a Biotic Infiltrator, but actually having my Shepard acknowledged as biotic is important for my roleplay so I'll probably go either Sentinel or Adept.

It's a shame, I was looking to maybe play as a Biotic Infiltrator, but actually having my Shepard acknowledged as biotic is important for my roleplay so I'll probably go either Sentinel or Adept. I'd just do whatever you want. I played a run of Twin Shepards. In ME1, it was easy, because the console allowed for gender swapping. Faith did the main missions while Owen had all the side missions (including Cerberus). She was Renegade (Butcher of Torfan) while he was Paragon (Hero of Elysium) - both were Vanguards. The were Vanguards and had the Colonist background. Faith hated batarians (which translated to aliens in general, which is why she had Kaidan, Ashley and less-alien Liara with her) while Kaidan have Garrus, Wrex and Tali. Faith was publicly a Spectre while Owen was made a Spectre in secret specifically to take care of Cerberus. Faith was involved with Kaidan and sacrificed Ashley on Virmire.
In between ME1 and ME2, Owen undertook a lot of covert missions to make himself appear anti-alien. When ME2 rolled around, the Normandy was destroyed and Faith with it. Owen met Kaidan at Faith's funeral and, over time, they became involved. However, Owen's top secret mission kept them from being together over the long term. Two years after Faith's dead, Owen was seriously injured by aliens who hated him. He woke up on Lazarus Station though quickly realized there was no way it was meant to heal his injuries. He joined Cerberus as planned, his mission to infiltrate Cerberus a success. Things proceed as expected EXCEPT he wondered throughout the entire game if Chakwas, Joker and the engineers were all planted by the Council to be secret allies. (It was never confirmed one way or the other.) Encountered Kaidan as normal and got the same reaction. Once they reached the suicide mission, Owen had gained the loyalty of all squadmates and crew, including EDI. Then Arrival, after which Owen turns himself in for the deaths of 300K batarians.
In ME3, things went the same until the Citadel DLC. The person who was behind everything was not his clone but instead Faith. She was 100% angry with Owen for "stealing" her boyfriend. It was never revealed whether or not this was the real Faith, having received the Lazarus treatment, or a clone. She did have Faith's memories and seemingly plummeted to her death. On the beam run Faith turned up alive. She refused to allow Owen to sacrifice himself and went up the beam herself. She encountered TIM and Anderson, and eventually the Catalyst. She got her three choices and chose Control. She stopped the Reapers and used them to rebuild the galaxy. She also watched over her brother for as long as he lived. Meanwhile, Owen married Kaidan and they started a family together. The End.
Obviously, a lot of this was plain old RP. I gave a ton of write-ups in the "What did you do today" thread. Very lengthy but it told the story in detail. This is all meant to show that you can have a true RP experience if you want it. It worked for me.
