The horse riding in Battlefield 1 is fun and I want that in DA4. The issue is how to implement that with companions (Don't do it like DAI plz).

Obviously a game should be complete when it launches. However, if they have to sacrifice anything, I’d rather it be something the community has a chance to fix. We can’t influence the story or the quests, but we can (to a certain extent) do something about graphics. Again, not saying it’s ok if we have to. Just saying some flaws are more mendable. I agree but I wouldn't put it past EA at the moment or the future, that they will release a high resolution textures pack for a few dollars a few months after release...

Frostbite continues to improve, and I like to watch their GDC talks to keep an eye on what's coming up. As there'll likely be a new console generation out before DA4, it'll be interesting to see what they come up with. I'm hoping to see Day/Night and Seasonal changes (tech which they teased a couple of years back). Expect improved lighting, fidelity, draw distance, crowd tech, enemy visual damage, animations, particle fx, etc.. I'm hoping they will have one eye on keeping the game visually distinct from other high fidelity games out there. I touched on this in another thread, but as they move into photogrammetry, games are starting feel similar to one another. The jungles in Shadow of the Tomb Raider are gorgeous, but at the same time they look like the same jungle in a half-dozen other games. Same with those games that have your typical cedar/hemlock/pine forests. Ideally you would take one look at a environment screenshot from DA4 and know it come from that game. Ideally I'd like to see environments we don't normally see (or at least not as often) in other games. I'd love to see an extended underwater adventure, because they're pretty rare in these types of games. Riding really big/tall mounts to give you an interesting perspective as you traverse the environment. Shake it up some way from other games.

Well they have a chance when designing the city of Minrathous, Hundred Pillars, Dwarven Roads/Kal Sharok and perhaps the Fade. Not your average forest, jungle or city but as Frosbites improves

Especially if it's a game we plan on playing years after the fact...

Especially if it's a game we plan on playing years after the fact... Maybe we'll get lucky, and what LukeBarrett said about a skeleton crew being able to get a good amount of production done applies to DA4. They now have several years experience working with Frostbite under their belts, after all. Things are hopefully running quite smoothly. They could be much further along than we think. That's my theory, anyway, and I'm sticking to it until proven otherwise.

I'm hoping they're prototyping the hell out of a bunch of cool new systems with this lengthy pre-prod period, and generally getting all their nugs in a row.
But I think most of their leads are on Anthem, so I don't know how far they could actually get...

Well, if Anthem is a Frostbite engine I would believe the graphics would be the same unless the owners of Frostbite upgraded it by then. meaning before they began work on the next DA.(shrug) I could be wrong hehe never understood graphics other than it looks great It is and NO. I dont believe it for a second they would've gone with the same shaders or shader structures - it basically doesnt work like that, or it does, but someone will customize them, change them from game to game and so on. Also graphics do not mean only the engine, its more about the art itself, assets textures and so on, engine gives lighting though and Frostbite is VERY good in it (dammit that computeshader screen splitting and calculating only the areas where light hits -algo is fantastic stuff).
