so a popular theory in this community is that the next mass effect game wont be coming out till at minimum 5 years from now if not longer. but i think there is a very plausible possibility that the next game will come out before that 5 year mark. hear me me out, from dragon age 2 (that didnt do well) to dragon age inquisition was 3 years. that was also including that they moved to whole series to the forstbite engine which is a pain to work with and still came out in 3 years. Mass effect has already been brought into frostbite so this will make the next game they make alot easier since they arent starting from scratch and you see a pattern of bioware releasing a new game every 2 to 3 years at the most. granted anthem throws a wrench into the theory, but this isnt the first time they have had to juggle three projects. remember that SWTOR came out in 2011 inbetween ME2, DA2, and the development of Me3. And SWTOR was a huge departure on biowares usual works with a sorta live service system and added content through the games life so bioware does have experience with that kind of work. so my best guess is they are going to a new model in which they are releasing a new game every year on a three game cycle allowing for a development time of each game to have 3 years. now i can see it coming out in 4 years maybe but i honestly thing theres a chance the next game will be out within the next 3 years. i will be surprised if its 5 years.

I see it being around 5 years. Anthem is coming out in early 2019. DA4 will probably come out at earliest late 2020 but far more likely some time in 2021. And that leaves ME5 at earliest 2022 and more likely 2023 which is 5-6 years from MEA’s release.

Anthem - 2019 next DA game - possibly late 2020 or late 2021 next ME - maybe 2022, most likely 2023. Its very likely the game will be released for the next generation consoles. If the next ME game does release in 2023, 2022 would be a good time to release a remastered trilogy. Hint, hint Bioware.

I'm okay with that so long as we get an MEA2 that at least wraps up all the lingering plotlines. The only way I'd accept a return to the MW (and this would make me extremely unhappy) is if we learn that MEA was the fevered dream of a Jien Garson who was being indoctrinated and looking for a better world. Then we'd reintroduce the MEA in a post-war environment. That would allow us to keep the MEA cast and work off of some random ending. Since Alec Ryder would probably be alive, he could have a team of the MEA cast.

I'm okay with that so long as we get an MEA2 that at least wraps up all the lingering plotlines. Yeah, ryder's story needs to be finished properly before a next me comes out. I've said it before, if they don't want the story with ryder to continue in a sequel and rather have a new protagonist who will find out what the scourge is, more about the jardaan, the benefactor, resolve jien garson's murder. Imo all these things i mentioned will be better having ryder doing them because i preffer them over someone else (it's gonna be weird for me). It will also be great as you previously mentioned in another thread having them be more mature but keep their cool nature, also this can apply to the team.... A ME:A2 has potential if it's executed good and have a good script, if they do these things right, then there's no doubt it will be even better than the first. And when it's gonna get good reviews, the people that didn't like the first one will consider on buying this. I think they can take some of the fans back that were lost... What i wanted to say before is that they need to finish at least their personal story with their mother and their LI in a dlc. Then they can move on and do what they want to but i honestly want more of ryder and the crew have new adventures and find new planets to explore in a new cluster, find some new aliens....I'm afraid that they might scrap all the story of andromeda and start somewhere else with a completely new story and characters. If they do that then fans are gonna be angry and they won't have faith in them anymore on support a game that was criticized bad and then abandon it. I don't even want to think about it since that's the worst scenario for me. As for op, i think the next me will release in 5 years tbh.

Maybe. My release schedule for BioWare games shows DA4 releasing in late 2020 and the next ME at the soonest in early 2023, bumped up a bit too meet demand.
My release schedule is my official release schedule, written on the inside of a tootise roll wrapper.

Unless they pull some "release unfinished and update over time" funny business, I seriously doubt it. The wait between DAI and DA4 will be at least 6 years and that IP is in a much better state than ME.

I'd rather have a good game than a "soon" game. While I'd love to play a new Mass Effect game before 2023, Bioware knows it has to be both satisfying and extremely polished. I'm willing to wait for them to do it right.
That being said, if rumors are correct and Andromeda was really made in about 18 months (once the procedurally generated worlds idea was scrapped), it's possible they may be able to pull it off in 3-4 years instead of 5.

It then took a further 6 months to fix all the problems with the game, unless you want take 2 of "what the hell is wrong with everybody's eyes!"

ME5 will begin development in 5 years. i mean Casey Hudson already said they are working on Mass Effect sooooooooooooooooo He has not. He merely expressed they're always thinking about it and is sure they'll return to it which is a nothing statement other than showing personal enthusiasm for it. It's not happening right now. I bet even Patrick Weekes works on Anthem at this point in time

Would be wise if their intention is to keep the IP relevant. Jury's still out on whether they do, or would rather it simply die.

I bet even Patrick Weekes works on Anthem at this point in time Here is a bit from the mid summer blog up date by Casey Hudson on August 2: "In the meantime, our Star Wars: The Old Republic team is hard at work on some amazing plans for the coming year, with new features and surprises that I think makes it the game’s most exciting year yet. And yes – we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while…" blog.bioware.com/2018/08/02/mid-summer-update/is this confirmation they are making ME5 already? no but it means that they are looking to do with the series probably. and this makes sense, after ME3 they started to come up with concepts for the next game. and it makes since its a franchise that can make money. lets all remember despite how bad MEA did, it still made money. So for them to not even figure out or even touch the series for 5 years then start working on the series just makes no sense why they would wait that long.
