I realize these are more pie-in-the-sky features that are probably pretty low on the (core game) totem pole. We tend to see the fun side activities & minigames in later DLC - The Citadel, Trespasser...
Recently though, a couple of us were talking about Final Fantasy, and it reminded me that a lot of the fun at the core of XV actually came from the gang's hobbies. This game actually made me care about a fishing minigame. Fishing. The chocobos are ridiculously fun, especially with the awesome soundtrack that kicks in. And then there's upgrading/customizing the car, driving around, the racing, the camping, the photos ops, finding new recipes, betting on monster fights, playing video games inside the video game. Even feeding that damn cat absurdly overpriced kibbles (that cat ate better than I did).
There's a lot of value in having fun things to do outside of combat. Especially if you just want to wind down after a long quest. You don't see that as much in western RPGs.
So if you had a say in DA4, what sort of side activities/minigames would you like to see?
Card games like Wicked Grace or Diamondback? Tournaments like the Grand Tourney in the Free Marches or the Grand Proving Arena in Minrathous? Nug Races? Horse Races?
Maybe something a little more offbeat?

I'd be into Wicked Grace if it wasn't as boring as it sounded on the surface in all the conversations held about how it works.
Definitely into the idea of a Tourney or a proving, but I think the tourney's are rather rare? and the Proving required some story as to why a non dwarf was being let in. More like those punching fights in TW3 would be cool. Except make it available for all classes. Oh, weren't there those under the table fights in Orzamaar? yeah. Except better now. ^^
It'd be cool to SEE a nug race and bet on it. I'm not up for breeding them and trying to put them in races of my own.
The only horse races I cared about in the Witcher 3 were the ones that had story support or as a method to resolve a quest a different way. Straight up racing to race is kinda boring.
I'm super into having a pet, decorating my place. I don't want to fish or collect recipes for cooking actual food.
I'd like to be able to procure gifts for all of my companions' areas though.
Speaking of Final Fantasy, I adored semi composing the music for FF8. I'd be super into that in Dragon Age, and then people could upload and share things they created. Theodosian Music!
How painting our own paintings to put on our own walls.
I want to go dancing.

(Optional) Card games are usually great fun, even if they are (simplified) versions of RL games.
Tournaments are always fun.
I hate anything with a timer, it’s just too stressful for my nerves.
Pets are great as long as they don’t turn them into tamagotchi that die if you neglect them.
Dancing could be fun, but don’t know that I want it to be a minigame. In general I’d like more things like in the Citadel DLC for ME3. Things you can do with your friends/LI that aren’t necessarily quests.

I did very much enjoy gwent in TW3, which was excellent in terms of scaling to retain interest. I suppose you could collect different decks of wicked grace but not sure its nature is as effective. So maybe a new card craze is hitting Thedas which allows them to design from the ground up.
The horse racing in TW got dull rather quickly personally.

Card games are a great idea. Pazaak and Gwent were both tons of fun.

Love card games in videogames since FF8. Gwent rocks!
However, minigames have to fit the setting and tone of the game. If I'm busy stopping the apocalypse, not sure breeding nugs or something would make sense. Like said above, could be fun to bet on a race once though, the race being local flavor, fleshing out the world.
DA2 could have had a ton of minigames like fist fights as part of living in Kirkwall. DAI? Not so much.
I would enjoy DA4 starting off with a longish prologue that introduces the player to the city. (We'll just assume Minrathous will be the main hub.) So gambling of any kind, card/board games, participating in races, duels... all this could potentially make sense. Even if the protagonist is upper class. They could still engage in all these activities if they're the sort that likes mingling with the "unwashed masses".

I’ve always liked coliseum quests, so I’d like to see something like that. Ideally though, it would be cool to have a sort of custom game mode that let us arrange particular maps and opponents any time we like. If the Romans could flood the coliseum to simulate naval battles, imagine what the Tevinters could do with their magic? That proving arena in Minrathous has a lot of potential.
A card game could be cool though.

Since travelling is a big thing in the series, a selection of card or dice games would be nice every now and again. Would be a prime time to flesh out some wicked grace, too.
But I want see games and pastimes in some of the cities we visit, even if we can't participate. The most life I ever got out of a Val Royeux in DAI was seeing a few NPCs by a chessboard and that's it. But where's the card games, children playing hopscotch, friendly (or not so friendly) duels, etc?

Class-based games:
Mages: Cantrips. Compete for the most complex+entertaining illusion.
Warriors: Feats of strength. Tug'O War with the Grumpy Gurn.
Rogues: Companion + spinning wheel + daggers + blindfold. Least punctures win.

Nug catching- like we did in dao. Bugs have to be included in some type of game (maybe gambling on nug races)
Fighting of some kind
Dancing-I actually enjoyed it
