I am finally catching up on the AC: Odyssey DLCs and finished Legacy of the First Blade yesterday. WTF? Also, frankly I didn't get the ending at all. So the Order (aka Templers) started out hunting "tainted ones" (those with ancient blood) and that's why they hunt me and the kid. They want to eradicate us because we are dangerous. But then, when they have the kid, they not only leave him alive but give him into the loving care of the son of the Persian ruler who now lives secluded on some island off the coast of western Greece? WTF? Why? How does this make any sense at all? A different team did the DLC and used a different approach. Quite jarring. But you can just take the flamethrower and leave
The Order are bloody hypocrites! They want to use the "tainted ones", not eradicate them. They hunt and kill only those they deem as impossible to convert. Removing the threats for their power. Absolutely the same thing as the Cult and Deimos, but with the difference that Deimos thought he is the power, while the Order keeps their "tainted ones" on a tighter leash. We see it in all three DLC episodes. In the first there is a "regular Joe" that hates on the "tainted ones", but uses "Shadow of Nyx" and other super abilities as something that is absolutely normal for a regular person. Then in the second episode there is a clear "tainted one" working for the Order. In the third episode we see they are going to keep Elpidios as well.

Well yea, I guess that makes sense, though it doesn't explain why Artaxerxes' son is living on an island with him *but maybe that was just some temporary arrangement or something). Oh and "only using those they can control", yea, that worked well with the Tempest. ).
Anyway, here is a recommendation. If you are like me and like to watch something, that fits thematically to the video games you are playing, here is the perfect tv show to watch when you are on an AC:Odyssey playthrough. It's called "Great Greek Myths" and it's got a very cool narrator telling you about the greek gods and mythical heroes while the visuals are sort of stylized animations interspersed with relevant works of art or historical artifacts. There are two seasons right now (if you have prime, it's free, not sure if its also on Netflix or other streaming services). It starts at the very beginning with Gaia and Uranus and tells the story of all the gods of Olympos. Season two is about the Illiad, more specifically the Trojan war (I was actually surprised how close the movie Troy kept to the original material). I really hope they'll make a third season about the Odyssey as well.
You can also almost listen to it like a podcast. I put it on int he background while doing other stuff. I guess it could also work well while just exploring in the game. Now that I play Fate of Atlantis and there is a lot of references to the gods, it's cool to have this refreshed background knowladge about them.

Today at 210 hours of playtime I have fully completed Assassin's Creed: Odyssey aside from some grinding for engravings and completing a few last achievements. Which don't get me wrong will be done before the game is removed from my PC.
Overall with Atlantis I can see why people were upset at how the game felt like it didn't respect their choices, but I felt that with the main game as well. I never had the connection that I did with Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and I haven't bought Origins yet due to when I played it I borrowed a friend's console. Upon finishing the game I think a quote from Kassandra near the end of Atlantis really summarized my feelings about the game as a whole.
I don't think I could say anything more about my experience with the game, for that is what it was. I never really felt like Kassandra grew as a characters and even the family storyline in the main game never really drew me in. It was a task to do, but no connection. The one thing I am really puzzled about is the amount of criticism that BioWare got for Andromeda from even the main "news" organizations, but Odyssey suffers more from the exact same things because there doesn't seem to be any level of variance to the game. I have over 2,000 hours in Andromeda and I still don't feel this bored with that game. Even the shitstorm over the endings of Mass Effect 3 felt misplaced compared to anything in this game. Oh well [/soapbox]
One thing I am glad is that the studio making Valhalla isn't the same one that made Odyssey, for then the game would have been on "wait for sale" list.

BioWare is expected to make polished, high-quality RPGs. I'm not saying MEA was trash, or that the criticism was proportionate; I'm just pointing out the rightfully higher expectations for "choices mattering" and whatnot. AC has never had dialogue options, decision points or anything resembling these RPG features before Odyssey. Was Odyssey on par with Mass Effect? Hell no; of course not. That's okay, though; I was neither expecting nor looking for that type of experience from Assassin's Creed. For a first effort, I felt like they knocked it out of the park with Odyssey. Sanunes, you seem to have liked Syndicate. The Syndicate team is the same team who made Odyssey. They had a rep of being good at story and shite at gameplay, so Odyssey was a home run for them, IMO. The team leading Valhalla made Black Flag and Origins, two of the best of the series. Still, I'd not claim those two were better written than Syndicate, my least favorite of all ACs. Those two were much better games, overall, but Syndicate had some really solid story and writing. I say all of that to encourage you to temper expectations with Valhalla. I like Ashraf and his lead writer, but their games haven't been without issues. For one, they sometimes leave head-scratching holes in their stories. I expect a fun game from them, but I'm going into it prepared to be left hanging in myriad small ways.

So started off yesterday clearing the weekly "Great Cleansing" quest which was one of the easiest I have done. Kill 20 Predators, half the time the bloody things attack you everywhere so no problem there. Kill 10 Daughters of Artemis easy to find and kill 10 Bandits, again easy to find. Soif you normally don't do them because they can be a pain this one won't take you long at all, easy Ori. Then back to Naxos to meet Mum for Alexios, did all the missions without a drama including Naxos Quarry which was nightmare for me the first PT when I was a weakling assassin. Forgot about the beacon, got spotted fought a gazillion reinforcements as well as IIRC about 10 Mercenaries. I remember being physically exhausted at the end of it!!!! Anyway this time no issue, was stealthy but still went about my warrior ways of flaming terror with only a couple of Assassinations. Then headed to Phokis to visit Sargon and bought the Legendary daggers he had for sale but already had the crew he had on offer. Spun the chocolate wheel (Lucky Dip) and it gave me The Legendary Spartan Lieutenant. He's OK stat wise but not sure why he has Rebel Spartan Armour on? Not sure what to do next but think I'll go see real dad, I have all the Legendary items except from the Sphinx which prevent me accidentally staring down the Atlantis route. Pic's Hi Mum I am home Mum insisted on a boat ride as Aspasia had already had one You again!!!! Spartan Lieutenant

My expectations this far from release is "I think I might have fun with it" or "not for me" for any game I see. To me the biggest problem with Odyssey is something BioWare has had with Inquisition and Andromeda and that is having what could have been a good story to tell with interesting characters and have it diluted with a game world that was too big for it just to boast about the biggest and largest.

I ran into a poet that wanted 50 Drachmae, so 11 Ori for 50 Drachmae fair deal I think. Right now I have been working on finishing off a few engravings and it turns out the one of the ones I was the furthest behind was the bonus damage to Athenians for I have it only at rank 2. I couldn't figure out a good place to really find a good number of them so I currently have over 100 battles at the Arena to do against the Athenian NPC for there is one Marksman in that group. The one upside is I am level 99 and then are only level 50. The other one I was really far behind is long distance kills with a bow, I almost have rank 1 completed, but I think that will be easier for me to do for any enemy would work for that so I could just lay siege to forts from range. The only problem I have with the Sisters anymore is that I am their leader so they don't really show up when trying to track enemies.

With the Daughters of Artemis I have the same problem but they have their own icon on the map I think, its a flame symbol or a circle with spears I think, if you hover over it will have Kill Lead Huntress or etc in terms of the goals so you can tell. There is one camp just north of Phokis, you'll see the symbol and there are also Wolves there to kill.

So yesterday did the daily quests and then went looking for real dad, did the mirror puzzle (I hate those time wasters) then headed in to find dad. Forgot about Layla's intervention Anyway finished it all up and handed over the three artifacts I had, then decided to go do the Sphinx quest, completed it and now off to meet mum in Lakonia. Pic's Sphinx Came across this scene, stole the loot but wondered what they were contemplating Stumbled on a Hippokrates quest

Got up to the encounter with the Wolf of Sparta. I always liked this scene, felt like the animators put some extra effort in there to capture the expressions from both of them. Also it's so refreshing just running past forts, camps, etc and being like NOPE! Already max level and geared up PASS!

So my Kassandra meet her father and now she has too many main quests to follow. Is it better to hunt down the artifacts or go back to mom? Oh and Timo looked so dejected when mom left Naxos. Now I know from whom Kassandra gets her way with people. By the way, I'm pretty sure Layla's gear shouldn't have protected her form the hydrothermal vent water down there. She's an alien, I tell you. An alien! I also found the best quote in the game: "Bravo Us!" (it's said super sarcastically)

Another day of Odyssey grinding for me. I have completed all the achievements in the game now, I had all but a few just playing the game. Still grinding the Arena for Athenian Marksmen for the engraving, tried forts and other places that were "good spawn locations" and none of them are as fast as just grinding the arena even if its just one marksman per match.

I thought exactly the same thing as you with Timo, wish I'd thought to do what Hanako Ikezawa suggested. Wonder if you can go back and she's still hanging around?????

So over the past couple of days did some more quests for Krateofhippos, told him to follow the Hippocratic Oath with the nasty slave man and then when he did and walked away Alexios killed the Malaka. An aside, not sure why but have had a lot of incidents lately when killing people that their bodies end up flying into the air etc???? Cruel slaver dude who flew several metres upon being killed. Then to do the daily I had to go to Makedonia which I had deliberately avoided till I get to LoTFB. I had to ride almost 3,000 metres to get there and once there decided to open the few fast travel points that are there, I also stopped and opened and cleared some "?". I think of all the areas Makedonia is my favourite, I love the scenery and the topography. Anyway finally tracked down the mercenary who kept magically bouncing back and forth between locations and duly sent her to meet her maker. Cleared a fort and implemented the famously successful stand at the top of a tower strategy and kill everyone as they come up the ladder. Alexios Spartan kicked his way to victory as per the pictures below: Beautiful Makedonia Then found an area of the map that I had somehow missed that had several "?" uncleared so did those and then off to Lakonia to meet Mum, let the wolves eat the boys, visited the house and met Brasidas and talked to a king. Having a moment with mum, whilst boys are eaten by wolves?? Meeting Brasidas Did the quest to kill the Spartans inciting the Helots to rebel, visited a quarry to kill some spartans and destroy some wepons. Was funny the quarry had been attacked by at least three bears who had killed several of the spartan soldiers which made Alexios's job far easier. One of the dead bears in the quarry Scenery Then back to Lakonia and then off to take Testikles to the Olympics but on the way accidentally rode into a fort, whata cluster f@ck that was!!!!! Anyway about 50 dead soldiers and mercenaries later I'd at least got a lot of loot and XP!!! As I hadn't trapped the signal fire I got three waves of reinforcements and I think 4 mercenaries. I just stayed in the one spot and took on all comers but eventually the game decided I had killed enough and no more came. Anyone order death? Climbed up to take the photo but some bodies had already disappeared: Testikles and Testikles Fate Next Alexios will do all the fun Olympics quests

So yesterday did the Olympics quests and won the Pankration, killed a cultist, accidentally did a Lost Tale of Greece and performed in a play, killed bears for some woman, saved a woman from being thrown off a cliff and then threw the priestessaccusing her off the cliff instead. Saved some lovers from their Malaka fathers by killing the fathers and then made a terrible mistake to do another nearby Lost Tale where you meet an old flame. It meant crossing into Arkadia which because I am doing quests for Mum and Brasidas automatically applied a 3 Helmet Bounty on me. It was a damn pain in the butt trying to do the quests and being constantly attacked by Merc's. Made some different choices but it is still a pretty lame quest because of the pre-determined outcome. Then back on task and off to help the Spartan kings by killing the 4 Champions of Beotia. Well what the hell who was there but my ol' mate Stentor who I killed after killing the Wolf???? Anyway we snarled at each other and off I went for a very quick quest as I had already killed 2 of them during the course of this PT. Returned but put Stentor off re the next stage as I had to stop. Pic's Killed the witch rather than destroy the poisoned food as part of rescuing an actor from bandits and a witch. Killed the witch and threw her in a swamp, making her a swamp witch : Witch Swamp Witch Poor birds, one stab of the spear = multiple deaths Learning to fly Champion Bridges are over rated Caught me a pick pocket, this quest was over in no time as I'd gotten or killed the people necessary earlier Had a tryst with an old acquaintance and taught the son to fight. Killing Drakon Alexios is as unhappy as Stentor to have to deal with him Scenery

Any of you guys that are playing on pc have any weird texture swapping during cutscenes? Mine seems to like to switch character faces and clothing/armor between high and low. None of the adaptive options are turned on either. here is an example of the moms face in the same cutscene Here's one with normal or high res. As you can see very detailed in the face and skin. As well as the leather bits on the shoulder i.lensdump.com/i/WLomjM.pngThen same custcene a few frames later the skin texture has blurred and degraded some as well as the leather looking worse i.lensdump.com/i/WLoqfA.png

I don't recall it ever happening to me. Has it just recently started? Or has it been a problem for a while? Tried re-installing (clean install) of GPU drivers?
