Ok, so bear with me on this... just go with it We know that we'll have an awesome soundtrack in general but I want to talk about the 'in game' music and if we can expect maybe something a little more country or a little more blues? We had some great sounds in Afterlife and Purgatory, even Chora's den but I only went there a couple times and it ended in a bloodbath Given we've had ghost riders from the man in black on the promo I'm just thinking if we go a more 'new frontier' cowboys in space (but with lots of tech) then maybe our 'clubs' have a very different feel and sound

In all honesty westener cowboy music would insta-kill my immersion in the game. I'm not playing Red Dead Redemption but Mass Effect. I would love synth, electro and space ambient music to inspire my gameplay.
EDIT: I can see your point and why it would make sense but I don't know for me ME is about electronic with a couple of memorable instrumental tracks.

Don't attribute more significance to trailer music than what it deserves. Music in trailers (frequently in EA trailers for that matter) don't tend to be representative of the game's actual score. This rendition of "In the Air Tonight" in a Dead Space 3 teaser, for example. I still haven't found that cover anywhere. As for if I would want it? Maybe. It all depends on context. It'd hard to justify having straight blues or country, especially if we want to maintain immersion, but there are certain moments that could probably pull it off. General ambient tracks, however, should probably stay as close to Mass Effect's signature synth/orchestral to maintain overall consistency. I wouldn't mind if some of the exploration tracks dipped into some of Jesper Kyd's work for Borderlands 2 (glacial ambiance is probably the closest to a Mass Effect sound in those samples). To me, Halo is possibly the gold standard for a sci-fi epic successfully shifting its music in and out of different genres, taking the original "Halo" theme and adding in a rockin' guitar for Halo 2's "Mjolnir Mix," and even shifting the orchestral feel into bluesy ambiance for ODST's "Deference for a Darkness." So yes, it's possible to take an original soundtrack into a new genre, but it works best when the new sound is woven into the original.

Speaking of music a dream for me would be the Mako having a radio option where we can import our tracks from Spotify and use it in the game. Exploring a planet with Vangelis music would be wondeful for me.

That seems like a copyright minefield that EA would have every intention of avoiding, especially if people can readily stream their gameplay nowadays. Besides, it's not like you can't just play your own music in the background anyway. It just won't react to combat, but then again, it wouldn't make any sense if it did.

The idea of importing music into the SP game, from our own music collection ... pretty cool idea.
Sadly, RoboticWater is probably right ... maybe there is a workaround?
It's too bad ... that would have been a fun thing to do ... make a Mako playlist, just for playing in game.
*sigh*
A great idea, too late to implement at this point ... maybe for MEA2?
With fights by teammates as to who gets to pick the next song ... or a "not that again" ... ya know, have some fun with it.

With fights by teammates as to who gets to pick the next song ... or a "not that again" ... ya know, have some fun with it. The workaround for PC is just turn the music slider in game to 0, alt-tab to Spotify, and play that to your heart's content. Hell, most laptops/keyboards today come with pause/skip track functionality built in, so you don't even need to alt-tab. For consoles, you can turn in-game music off and use your phone/laptop for the rest. If you have headphones, then you might be out of luck (unless the XBone and PS4 have robust multi-tasking features). Otherwise, no, there's no way we're ever getting this feature. I can't think of a single game that lets you import your own music, and I'd expect a game like GTA would allow this sort of thing before a game like Mass Effect. Copyright problems aside, it's just extra hassle for no payoff, and as an artist, I can't imagine that developers would go out of their way to implement features that circumvent their own work.

It's interesting, it's not really in my mindset to do stuff like that ... abuse copyrighted material, so I kind of whiff on how someone might take advantage of a capability and then abuse it.
I play music on my computer all the time and I certainly could, while playing MEA, just not a thing I generally do because it interferes with the gameplay, for me. Was thinking more in line with the novelty of having a sound system in the Mako ... like I do in my car. And having the "kids" (aka squadmates) fight over which song to play. Less about background music in MEA generally and more specific to just having music playing while in the Mako, similar to the music played by the radio station Shepard can dial up in ME's "Bring Down the Sky" DLC.
But ... someone could upload a playlist, create a two hour Mako video to bypass copyright laws ... and post said video online ... not so someone could watch two hours of Mako madness, but for the music. So yeah, that's probably not so good.
Too bad. Would have been fun.

Exploring a planet with Vangelis music would be wondeful for me. Quoted for excellence. I'd settle for pre-canned tracks. A couple of callbacks to the trilogy wouldn't go amiss, mixed in with some new stuff. I mean, if we can have a full set of tracks in Shep's/Anderson's apartment in the Citadel, why not the Mako? Liked that Jesper Kyd sound not heard it before. I do like the usual ME sound I just wondered if we'd get something a bit different, or different music 'themes' for the different planets/settlements. I mean if they are going to be truly 'alien' and disperate as in not like our more integrated 'council' culture or its sexier cousin terminus 'counter culture' then we should expect different 'styles' of music.
I agree I'd like some club settings as well and love the banging club stuff they had... but I'm just thinking they could 'paint' a lot of atmosphere with a diverse sound scape and help us recognise that some settlements are certainly more 'frontier' than others and that the Andormeda residents are going to have cultures that owe nothing to Milky Way (as in us the players who are very much MW incomers) expecations.
EDit: listening to the bandit track on that jesper kyd link I couldnt help but let my mind wander to running the mako over an open hot terrain towards a settlement with shotguns at the ready and cigars ala clint in various spaghetti westerns

I'd prefer they stick to the same basic style as used by Jack Wall & Sam Hulick (and bring back both, for good measure).
That's the Mass Effect sound. If you have memorable soundtracks and you take the composers away, you get rid of the soundtracks that are intertwined with an atmosphere that people know and love, and that can have a profound impact on how a game feels. Total War series losing Jeff van Dyck is a great example of that. I'd rather not have the same thing happen to ME.

we'll likely get some music from previous games, cheaper than paying a composer to come up with new stuff for every single little moment in the what, 40 hour plus gaming time . As for main themes, i want something epic or at least sci fi atmospheric , with full orchestra ( but these days they just sit at a console and keep it synthetic and if it don't sound too great they just drown it in reverb.../ sarcastic ) .

Copyright problems aside, it's just extra hassle for no payoff, and as an artist, I can't imagine that developers would go out of their way to implement features that circumvent their own work. You can totally import your own music into GTA--the feature's been there since at least IV. On PC, you get an extra radio station - Independence FM was the name in IV - and it'll play any MP3s you dump into the game's 'User Music' directory. It's even got a DJ, though you can turn him off if you'd prefer. Forza Horizon 3 allows for custom soundtracks, too, though you have to upload the MP3s to Microsoft's Groove Music service - which, thankfully, is free as long as you're only playing your own music - instead of just shoving them in a folder. Works the same way otherwise, though--I've been racing to the Initial D soundtrack - yeah, yeah, I know - since the game came out. So, copyright shouldn't be a problem, though that's no guarantee the feature will actually be implemented. EDIT: Found an old video showing the process for GTA IV: Personally, I'm hoping for at least a few instances of songs with lyrics in the game proper... If only 'cause I want them to nick this idea from Saint's Row (obviously, you'd get to choose whether your character actually took part): (They should totally nick Laura Bailey, too. I've wanted to play a BioWare protag voiced by her since, well, Saint's Row.)

No spotify. Like Maxis did it in the Sims series. Put mp3s in a document folder, done. But the ME Team should create some Mass Effect themes with lyric. A song for male ryder, female ryder, daddy and for every squat member. Everyone creating some nice sounds for there games, but no one creates songs. WaltDisneys success was not because they put in Hercules or The Lion King some songs from Christina Aguilera or Pink. Charmed had success for 7 seasons, not because they did a great job with the special effects. The opening song fits to the topic of series. I cannot say it for other countries but Animes in Germany had success because of great Songs with more great lyrics and everyone understands the lyrics. I meaning the songs from Japan not that shit from USA/Saban (*rofl*Digimon*rofl*)

¸¸♬·¯·♩¸¸♪·¯·♫¸¸ -(MEA)-¸¸♬·¯·♩¸¸♪·¯·♫¸¸ Music composition will be Mass Effectish. Has to be. It's a big Cog in the game as music provides the feel and immersion necessary for us to say, "this is a Mass Effect" game.
As to the western theme, I lean towards a marketing idea for the first video. It generated buzz, which I believe was the intent. Western music conjures images of spaghetti westerns, cowboy, horses, saloons and even Roy Rogers.
No western music in Mass Effect Andromeda, imo.
But, I do wonder about Bio's selection for a composer. Will it be:
1- Rod Abernethy - Star Trek: Legacy 2- Clint Bajakian - Star Wars video game fame 3- Jack Wall - Mass Effect, Splinter Cell, Jade Empire 4- Harry Gregson Williams - Metal Gear fame 5- Michael Giacchino - CoD, Medal of Honor 6- Trevor Morris - DAI

I'm hoping they bring back Sascha Dikiciyan and Cris Velasco to do at least a few tracks. The tracks they composed for ME2 and ME3 were my favourites from the bunch. Also, Dikiciyan did the soundtrack for the new Deus Ex game so he also gets bonus points for that. But yeah, Sam Hulick would be amazing too.
As for Trevor Morris - as much as I loved the soundtrack for DAI (and believe me, I did), I don't think a Mass Effect game would be the best way to put him to use. His past works have all been massive orchestra driven pieces for mostly medieval settings (the tv show The Tudors for example). Not that he wouldn't do a good job, but synth doesn't really seem to be his thing.
And yes, I absolutely agree that there should be no western music. But a custom radio for the Mako would be pretty neat!
