I had that too with my phone and the googly chrome browser. I switched to the one that Samsung delivered with the thing. It also has back and forward clicky things - much better than chrome and so far no ad hijacked this browser. I have a Samsung, so I will give that a try! Yes, Samsung's browser is kinda lame for me because I prefer more viewing screen; it's just too noisy. However, it has extensions available for ad blocking, that are decent. Bromite seems to be working great though. Not an issue since my last report. So, for Samsung you have a good option that comes from a legit source. For other manufacturers phones, Bromite is the next best solution.

Not that I can fix anything, but it's worth knowing, so maybe other people who run into the same problem, we can add this to a FAQ or something.

I'm to much of a noob with smartphones to commend any fancy things. Still no issues for me with the Samsung browser. It eats screen yes but if you scroll up or down it removes most of its UI.

Samsung's browser does do a good job of corraling wayward ads.

I keep getting those ads-disguised-as-surveys that yank you off the site. It's driving me nuts. FWIW, I have a Samsung phone and I use the default browser.

I wonder if those ads are country specific, cause I use a Samsung too (Chrome as Browser) and only ever see ads for ProBoards itself, or sometimes some Swiss pages, but never a pop up.

I wonder if those ads are country specific, cause I use a Samsung too (Chrome as Browser) and only ever see ads for ProBoards itself, or sometimes some Swiss pages, but never a pop up. Well, me and mousestalker surf the exact same porn sites - all forbidden kittens doing kitten things. Thus, we get identical pop-ups To be honest, locale could be a factor. However, I used my current and most recent previous phone to view this site, and it took a while for Chrome to have issues, and then for a long time I could fix them by going into deeper Chrome settings than the in-app menu allows ( ) by turning on an option that stopped page actions not initiated by me (ie a pop-up). At a certain point, this was turned on by default by Google, and only recently have the hax0rs found a way to get around it. I do recommend checking out Samsung's native browser. It is not awesome, but there are decent extensions available for it that actually try to protect your privacy. No Google product will ever do that.

I think the problem is that the ads that are popping up aren't the banner ads that are embedded on the page, and the "report ad" at the bottom automatically assumes it's one of those 3 embedded ads (those are the only 3 choices you have to 'report' on.) I suppose you could report one of them, and write in the textbox that it's something else, maybe that would eventually get their attention?

I suppose you could report one of them, and write in the textbox that it's something else, maybe that would eventually get their attention? Bingo. @howyummy, on mobile it is beyond the skill of 99% to take the time AND know how to determine where the pop-up's origin is. The ad reporting options, as I mentioned in the OP of this thread and was just reiterated in the previous post by regack, are only to report issues with the two banner ads (top and bottom) that always appear on the site as they are integrated to it. It is likely that indeed one of the banner ads is the culprit, but how to determine which? By reporting an ad and guessing, I am doing ProBoards a disservice. None of this is finger pointing at anyone that contributes to this forum by keeping it ticking and adding nice neat options that make me smile. This thread has never been a "hay guize plz fix this site u broke it m8". It is obviously (from searching their support forums and reporting there) that this is a ProBoards[/i] issue, not a yummygack issue 8) Please never feel that I expect anything more from you folks than what you do. I want to present options to keep all of us with these issues, in the game, as long as I decide to remain. Sometimes I will be asking for help... That isn't anything more than a dude on a forum asking a forum of people a question because we are indeed special snowflakes in our own right, which is what makes forums potentially great. I cannot count how many times I have felt both grateful and a little smaller after getting a mind-blowing assist from a friendly internet stranger, for the price of just asking

This is interesting. mousestalker, please share your browser name and the ad blocker you chose. If it is the same as Pounce de León, we have an interesting convergence. If not, perhaps you can steer our friend in a better direction. Also, www.bromite.org/

SofaJockey mousestalkerI've been receiving spam/scam popups from this website claiming my service provider wants some sort of survey to win something - the popup/redirect is tailored to the device and network I am on and claims to be from that network's service provider, so the popup on my mobile is different from my desktop browser. Random loads/reloads of bsn.boards.net will result in this website, with the immediate history of the browser window removed, so I cannot hit the back button to return to the forum.

Apparently using the report feature helps them figure out what ad it is, so they can investigate. -- I did a quick search, looks like someone else ran into it as well : support.proboards.com/thread/660449/suspicious-disruptive-redirect-forum-thread

I will try HTTPS which works now, since browsers usually have more restrictions on redirecting from HTTPS.

They haven't actually implemented full HTTPS across all pages yet I read somewhere they were planning to roll that out, but I haven't been keeping track. If it's still happening, I can post in that thread on the support board, or you can report in there as well saying you're also having the issue... that might sur some more activity.
