Encouraging discussion in BSN's sub-forums

This is certainly an element of it.  Also in the mix was visibility for people "thinking of making a thread but for whom the search function is borked" and general "finding things you're interested in talking about".

Plus, as ME is on hiatus and DA is "totally not being made right now"...the sub forums can help with SEO visibility on Google for potential new members.

I like it.

It's essentially a redistribution of information that was already there, making more visible at the same time. To the user, and to search engines.

I find it pretty much too fractured now. I'm not a fan of finding a drawer with a label for every thing there is.

Also: I kinda liked seeing people talk about other games I dont have on my radar - now, I'd have to venture there to look and I doubt I can be arsed.
There subforums now with under 10 threads in. Never mind the additional work for mods having to shovel new threads to places because ppl can't be bothered checking the forum structure first or maybe fear their thread will go unnoticed in a subforum that looks pretty much dead.

I mean, I get that this allows for more games to be on page 1 of their particular forum, which otherwise might have been on page 2 or 3 but come on, it’s not like the forum is so busy that threads in that section go to page 2 in a few minutes or something.

Unless there is some option I didn’t know about, that allows to merge threads on the user side, (in which case, please tell me), I think this new setup is pretty inconvenient.

Sorry, again, I do like that the admins are trying to improve things, just saying, in this case, IMO it kinda made things worse.

Condensing Mass Effect subs is a good move.

It's about engagement rather than page views.
We are tinkering because we do want to hook some additional visitors over Anthem launch.

BSN can handle conversations too complex for Twitter, more linear than Reddit is designed for, and less corporate than some 'official' forums.

BioWare isn't exactly pumping out games at a fast rate and Mass Effect Andromeda was polarizing.
Anthem will be something different, so really it's been 4 years since BioWare had a win on its hands (DAI).

So a little diversification is in order. We'd like to offer more space for different conversations - if they don't happen we'll likely roll some of those sub-folders right back down again.
But without testing them we don't know which will 'catch'.

After two and a bit years it's not as if we mess about with folders every day...

Can you take all the ME threads of cmdrshep2183 and consolidate them under a single thread instead of the vast wasteland of pointless questions? The guy doesn't even participate in the threads he creates.

So I just saw that the DAI Mechanics subforum vanished. (as of this thread)

My only question to that is: What will happen to the threads inside? Because I don't know about you, but the guides inside were really helpful, especially the BUGS/GLITCHES one.
Are they gonna be moved to the Dragon Age Series Modding, Mechanics and Builds subforum?

Hmm, if you want I can later go through them and make a list, which would fit better into mechanics.
(like, I doubt any questions about stats/buffs/etc make much sense in DAI General )
