Having just cranked open ME3MP for #N7Day, taking 30 seconds to find a full lobby and having enjoyed a couple of missions with my Kroguard... The question I have to ask is: What makes Mass Effect 3 multiplayer so good?I mean this game is 6 and a half years old. I could have opened up Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer, but this is the one I was called to. What makes people so happy about this game (without getting too much into why other other multiplayers might not be quite as good) What's MEMP's 'secret sauce' in your view?

In my opinion, it's the teamwork between randoms (mainly due to small maps, the TTK heavily benefiting from it, shared combos), the inclusion of revive medals, the way the characters talk and compliment each other automatically, plus the AI and the way they interact with the players and each other.

I only play with other randoms, I do hope Anthem can recreate some of MEMP's magic.

Me too.
A few of my Battlefield mates tried the free demo with me back in the day, but none had the enthusiasm for its space magic co-op like I did.
It's hard to say if having been immersed by the main story adds to it, but I genuinely think it's a fantastic game on its own.
I'm at over just over 2000 hours now, which is mainly from the MP portion and that just wouldn't have happened if it wasn't. I've also never played any single player or co-op game for anywhere near that amount of time, even with friends, making this my favourite co-op game ever.

and and But on a serious note variety sure helps. There's so many different ways to build and play a character it's unreal. The weapons are pretty balanced; there's really only one stupidly OP weapon. The maps are overall pretty well designed, with only one or two that I truely abhor. Also, being a Co-op there's not too much competition and some really hilarious shit can happen during matches. Matches aren't too long either. I'm 1300 hours in and haven't burned out yet.

What makes Mass Effect 3 multiplayer so good? This is just my opinion of course, but the main reason, why this game (mode) is so good and popular, even after all those years, is this: VARIETY. You can build every character the way you want. Weapons build, power based build, full bananas melee nutpuncher Volus Protector build and many more. Whatever makes you happy and give you a tons of fun. Plus: - many variety in weapons. Each one has a specific feel to it, many are so satisfying to use, like Claymore, Javelin for example; - each kit feels also different, has a small details that makes it special, like Volus PAYDAY!, Vorcha KILLL EM!, Assarigasms etc. etc.; - different mechanics like heavy melee for each race. It's so satisfying to play a badass Krogan and headbutt enemies to death. Cabal has her teleport, Volus has double cloak and shield boost. I would have to spend whole day to write everything down; - you're playing the setting you love and care about. Many players were/are invested in the original trilogy. For many of us, it's one of the best franchise out there. So that passion born by playing single player campaign moved over to multiplayer as well. - social aspect. Many people has met many friends over the years, while playing this game. For many of us it's not about the game anymore, it's about spending the time together, having laughs and other shenanigans. Many of us use like to crack some Cerberus' skulls after hard day at work; - out of nostalgia. Simple as that. But maybe it's all because of fun. It still holds its value, after all of those years. People move on to other games, but many still come back to it, even if it's for a little while. Happy N7 Days comrades. Stand fast, stand strong, stand together

There is no "variety" with the Protector! If he doesn't have the BatGlove, you're doing it wrong. [X][[X][X]. Beyond that, I agree, I just had to correct this oversight.

Happy N7!
For me playing few matches every now and then is a good way to relax, though sometimes those freaking stupid sexxxy Phantoms does wreck my nerves.... Anyways, also variety of characters, guns and how differently you can play with them, still keep the interest up.

As other's have said, build variety, weapon variety, builds that affect weapons in different ways. Have good aim? Aim for the head, sploosh satisfaction. Really can't hit the broad side of a barn with your Arc Pistol? Go full power build, spam teh powerz, amaze us all with Biotic Godplay or Mathemagician skills. Like melee? I like melee. Variety in types of melees, racial melee specialities, over-cover grabs... Lol. People that play the game as much as me or more, and have become amazing at the game to a point where I can humbly say I will never reach their level, but I will continue to enjoy watching their videos and trying to be a better Reaper killer. This forum. This forum is a large part of what makes it so good too. Thanks friends, a pleasure and honor to serve with you

This is a thing that has me perplexed. I feel I'm a pretty good player, but there are some that are just on another level completely and I have no idea how they do it. It's great to watch, but frustrating to try to emulate.

My fast twitch hand-eye coordination was never that great, and this was my first multiplayer shooter ever. Still is the only one. 3) I'm stubborn and want to be the guy in the video I just watched. I'm not the guy. Never was, never will be. Learning to accept my limitations though - my last Platinum solo I survived 9 waves with a GI - a year ago that never would have happened. So, sometimes for me I just have to accept #4. 4) I am a scrub. Ashen Earth was right

1) I work 55-70hrs a week. I am always tired when I play. Never though of this one. I drink when I play too, maybe that has something to do with it 2) I'm 46. My fast twitch hand-eye coordination was never that great, and this was my first multiplayer shooter ever. Still is the only one. I never thought this one was super important in this game. It's not like COD or CS or Gears, etc. where you absolutely need that to be competitive. I think I play on medium or low sensitivity, but that's more of an lolconsole thing, I'd probably use higher with KB+M. 3) I'm stubborn and want to be the guy in the video I just watched. I'm not the guy. Never was, never will be. Learning to accept my limitations though - my last Platinum solo I survived 9 waves with a GI - a year ago that never would have happened. Most of the thing were mentioned i will add that every character feels different. They are solid and fun.Not like in Andromeda, where they all feel the same. The powers are very enjoyable as well. Also the enemies are interesting. They require different approach.Every enemy and every faction.

DistigousForest - I did something different in last night's successful Plat solo. I decided that I was going to be muahmuah as much as possible, meaning that I needed to stop moving around so much. Stay in a RHA position, and glue yourself to it and deliver the pain. You will be gated occasionally, by a flanking prick, but you can generally run away from that if you are checking your six often enough, or just go kill that prick and come back to your current win corner. Honestly, I never did this. I never did what I saw in the video, I did what I thought would work for me. When I actually just did what my eyes saw... Magic. Not nearly as fast as the best, but the results for me were a massive difference. It was actually a "turned the corner" moment I think

I've only been able to replicate this with the Venom Fury and Venom Valkyrie and both times I had a sub-40 and sub-30 going until I got grabbed or died on extraction. It's been months since I tried a Plat solo though, I've been saving all my Cyclonics for N7.

It's just still such good fun. I don't play as much, but it's easy to pick it up again. New manifests can make for a fresh challenge, and as many have already said, variety, camaraderie, between pugs/friends/the characters is great. I know it well enough I can goof around and still be useful, but at this stage of the game, who cares if you wipe as long as grabs were got, husks humped, heads were popped, rawrs yelled and primes jimmed. I do have a particular fondness as it was my first foray into a multiplayer game, met some awesome people, and I am still making new friends because of it Hope its still around for years to come 😁

You don't have to top the scoreboard, I like that about this game. I usually come last because I'm doing objectives, picking people up and not being reckless. I rarely die and I can clutch waves solo fairly reliably, though other players will need to put the kettle on because I'll start backing around the map and it won't be fast; their fault for bleeding out I reckon.
...a rhetoric question, right? 'cause you had your answer in the very screenshot you used. here, let me use some visual guides Ah, I wondered if anyone would spot the comedy 'no pants Asari' gag. It was fun for a few hundred hours, but I did eventually tire of it...
