Any EA game is going to get abuse at launch because of the 'fuck EA' critics.
Battlefield V is a bit rough around the edges, but seems to be getting a pass after the 'Women in my WW2 game' controversies of the summer.
Mainly, I think, because most of the hate is being thrown at Bethesda's Fallout 76, a game with an adjoining launch window and arguably also aimed at a community of multiplayer shooter folk.

People got distracted by other companies doing bad crap or having the hollering turned towards them for reasons, EA got the head start and outrage out early, three different times in regards to this game (main critical points), so managed to have a more under the radar actual release after all thanks to Blizzard and Bethesda deciding to take their turn this past month or so  EA should probably thank them. *for distracting the unhappy customers, since those unhappy probably turned to these other companies or black ops and got burned a second time.

Maybe BF V is just that: A decent game? I don't think they get a free pass because of ppl busy with FO 76. Also they changed quite their marketing, dint they? Gameplay and splosions more over cyber-arms of hero-chicks. The trolls are probably grazing on greener SJW debate pastures. Somewhere.

If only there actually was a car crash in site.  I do think the internet hate bandwagon is going to make themselves more and more obsolete jumping from one hate object to another. We will continue to play our games. Ultimately BFV won't really need the "wimminzzin WW2aaaaaaarrgghhh" squad just as FO76 won't need "falloutcantmp" or "YUNomakenewEnginBeth" crowd. Gamers will play the games and see for themselves if the subjective haters opinion were relevant to them or not. Clearly, from looking around, gamers all over are having fun playing these games. |

EA stock is in a free fall and BF5 sales are far below expectations.
The limelight may be focused on the stupidity of Bethesda’s PR clusterfvck of a disaster, but that doesn’t mean EA nor Dice has escaped the ire of their communities and gamers.

Judging by the conversation on Reddit, if they dodged a bullet it might have grazed the reproductive bits. The damage is not done; when the official r/ thread has swung from 100% echo chamber to a fair mix of angrier posts getting large volume of upvotes, maybe the question has been asked too soon. That put it in 5th place in the franchise, below Battlefield: Hardline, a game that resulted in the shuttering of Visceral much to my personal dismay. EA is a company that has lost its way, and in the process alienated enough fans that they have made a real catch-22 for themselves. FIFA sales were down too. For your consideration. |
