Someone on this island is trying to kill my mother.
And none of the clues are ones I understand XD so I'm just patrolling the place, killing things that need to be killed.

Is this the one where you have to investigate paintings on the wall? That confused the hell out of me as there was no prompt to talk to the art store owner I believe and that was the last clue you need to investigate if I am remembering correctly.

He reminds me of Zevran too, sort of, but I always romance Zevran but really don't want to romance Akibiades. But you are so missing out on a ton of laughter and its not really romancing more just having a fling for recreational purposes. It's going to be one of those things that I do, and pretend that I didn't do.

Some of the funniest moments in the game were to do with Alkibiades quests and then the subsequent interlude and comments afterwards.

So way back when when Kass snuck into the Cult meeting, multiple folk don't know where Myrinne is
But now they've known where Myrinne is long enough to take over a neighboring island as as to kill her.
Like... playing the long game here folks? This doesn't even effing make sense as a strategy. You sent Diemos straight to Perekles to slit his throat. But you take over a neighboring ISLAND to hatch a long term plan of killing Myrinne

EDIT: Just checked and yes there is a crack that you have to squeeze through, they are easy to miss make sure you look for them in caves and tombs. auluftwaffles.com/2018/10/06/find-and-deal-with-the-artist-the-writings-on-the-wall-naxos-assassins-creed-odyssey/

I laughed.
kass told him it was her that killed him. He got very angry.
Quest Failed.
I got very angry. Not a good idea.
Elpenor's brother one shot to the head. Their entire family line likely ended.

I only die in the lava once
I look at the floating triangle with expectation.
And then they show me an old man with a trident and give a lame cliche "I am your father"
And a cliche, "you should be dead."
And then they dump Alantis and the Search for the Great Macguffin on me without answering Anything.
And then the game cuts to the stupid present part of the game.
And then I turn off the game because it's 3am.
And I consider never turning it back on.
Edit add: so you know how I said that "this Stargate storyline is ruining my Xena"?
Like it's that all over again except worse.
Nothing in me cares about locking up Atlantis. We don't need a save the world storyline. I like the Cultist storyline with redeeming my bro and helping the Spartans swing the war for a couple of years until it inevitably goes to war again.
I would like a game with more of that. And zero of the Future. And locking up Atlantis with the Collection of Macguffin peices can go fuck itself with a spear. I'll help with a Sparta Kick.

May I never have to do that again for narrative required BS Going with arrows for the sails seems to slow down and downright stop the enemy ships in place. Then they are easy pickings. Or if you don't feel like fighting ship vs ship, you can jump in the water, go climb on the enemy ship, slaughter everyone and then get back to your ship to sink the helpless malaka.
One of the DLCs is all about Atlantis, so I doubt we locked it properly Also it definitely doesn't feel like a lockdown to be honest. I also couldn't care less about locking the thing. The best bit out of it is the missions you get, now they are fun.

Hey phoray I didn't even get to this till like 100hrs in. There is unfortunately as a first timer an element of story that connects all of this stuff that you wont get. Going to the spoilers page would help with this but obviously includes spoilers. My joy was in exploring the areas, building up resources and levelling up before getting so far in the story. I hope I don't offend its late at night and I am tired.

Going to the spoilers page would help with this but obviously includes spoilers. My joy was in exploring the areas, building up resources and levelling up before getting so far in the story. I hope I don't offend its late at night and I am tired. Not offended at all. I won't do the Spoilers but I will say I was tempted last night to see if I would even enjoy the rest of the game. :/ I've never been much of an explorer type, although these tombs I get extra ability points in has made me wish there was an opportunity to just go Full Stargate and play during the time of Adam and Eve during the uprising against the Inu (someone else told me that much about all this alien stuff earlier in the thread.) Because there are bodies in the tombs I must assume are from that time, well, maybe.

The Storyline Themes I find important and meaningful are exploring the questions; "What can you forgive, what is family". As well as teh revenge plotline that isn't entirely selfish- these Cultists are awful people, killing them is cleaning up evil, and it brings us closer to getting to our brother and maybe getting him off the Kool Aid. So the inevitable or failed Reunion is important to me.
But then Papa A+B=C tells Kass she wasn't bred for a reunion. She was bred to be a tool in preventing an Apocalypse. An errand boy/girl for finding materials he could have just as well found himself over the years instead of breeding people to do it for him.
Everything you thought was important in your life before your adventure began and everything that's happened in your adventure so far is irrelevant. It's all distractions from your real purpose, your only reason for being.
The player/Kass/Alex gets two chances to say this is all bull shit, and then the writers decided that was enough free agency before forcing your character to meekly accept her/his new world definition and meaning for life. "Okay, I'll go get the things now."
1. Seems like it's pretty hard to get to Atlantis already. It's been locked up pretty good for over 100 years, apparently. What's the rush as of "impregnating another man's woman twice" years ago? 2. How did he find Myrinne to ask her to do this if he's been locked up in almost-atlantis for 100 years? 3. He's effing old looking, did he actually bang Myrinne? Pregnancy isn't a sure thing from the first time, were they in a relationship for a while and the babies came later? 4. Xenia claimed she was super best friends with Myrinne, so knew the tragedy living inside her heart about her kids. And still delayed the reunion out of greed, this character is such an infuriating caricature it irritates me immensely 5. Did Nicolaus know about the Apocalypse so that's why he let himself be cucked? But if he understood what the children were meant for, WHY would he throw both kids over a cliff? He either knew about it and signed up for the Cuck or he Didn't and this makes NO SENSE unless we're to assume he just trusted his own wife SO implicitly he was just like, "it's okay you sneak off every 8 years and get preggers" ? I'm sure it's "for good reasons" I don't need to understand? 6. Myrinne is strong enough to be a pirate but weak enough to let kids be thrown over a cliff? 7. The Oracle spoke so swiftly of killing babies Myrinnedn't have time to explain the childrens' importance to the Spartan kings to maybe reconsider? 8. Myrinne felt no urge to tell Bio Dad their two chances for the apocalypse-avoiding had been thrown over a cliff. No urge to maybe sign up for baby #3 to again try to prevent said apocalypse 9. Bio Dad knew all along that Kass was alive because the bird-not-bird. Felt no urge to contact Myrinne to let her know her kid was alive. 10. related, Bio Dad even implies that maybe this was a good thing because "adversity makes you stronger" bull shit. I mean, fucking decide what kind of world this is. Intentional Science Logic decisions with prepared for outcomes (and all this magic is really just alien DNA/tech) or "everything is fate." Because I thought this was the former, with confused humanity putting on a layer of the latter
The AI of the NPCs is not that great. At the same time, they are moderately better than the AI's of other games I've played. I just think that if I kite 20 people outside of a Fort, then run back into the Fort, and they SAW me run back into the Fort, they should not immediately ?? wonder where I'm at. They should be more stubborn than that.

Some Good-ish things though. The Battle Mechanics are Acceptable. The Archery is no way as good as HZD. The Melee is not as good, but not far off, from Witcher Series. I MISS BOMBS. the closest thing is Explosive Arrow. Why do the baddies get to have bombs and I don't get any? I have managed to care about Kassandra in spite of the bad writing which means there was enough good. I felt not much when Phoibe died except that it was wasteful but I felt very touched when reuniting with Myrinne. The voice acting and animation during that scene was great and very realistic. There have been touches of humor here and there that speak to someone having a clue in the Writing Department, of at least the small human moments if not the Over arching narrative. I've enjoyed that there is flirtatious lines that do not lead directly to a sec scene. They just seem flirty. The dialogue options range from "Business or pleasure" to "nice or mean" and they could expand on that. They have spent so much time on the world itself, it's hard to believe they had time for anything else (so maybe I should be impressed with the writing, ha.) From my Eagle hunting for me to harassing the baddies to multiple animals fighting each other and the humans. To people jumping out of the way of the horses path (sometimes a bit TOO vigorously XD ). I love the Synchronization points where it does an aerial view- I appreciate their efforts more when we get this further out vantage point. I like the depiction of various places of trade. an acre of grapes or beaches of dye pits or multiple quarries adds a little somethin somethin. I like the idea of naval battles, but just like Gwent, it should never be a requirement that you be good at them or it crosses into a major chore Very very occasionally, side quests will connect to each other and even more rarely, to the main quest. Like Elpenor's brother. And Anthousa's many customers at war with her poet lover. <- should have done way more of this. Although I suppose the argument could then be made that the world is "too small" it would just paint a tighter narrative to me rather than a sea of NPC faces I only see twice before forgetting again

Deimos is Nikolaos's biological son/daughter. So he/she is the protagonist's half-brother/sister. It's really not clear in the game, but I think the novel is supposed to establish that.
Never played HZD. I feel the Archery is passable, but could be better. For stealth gameplay it's fun to use and has quite a few tools for melee too. A few more archery based moves for close combat could have been fun.
Melee close to the Witcher? Now that's an insult The Witcher had crap melee combat (and crap combat in general). Here at least it's pretty easy to control the battlefield and do exactly what you want. In Witcher it was a constant roll fest on higher difficulties and builds barely seemed to matter.
AC Origins has bombs. I didn't use them much so no idea if they were ok. If they removed them, I guess the devs also didn't feel the need for them. And who needs bombs when you have Ring of Chaos Last game I used the crap out of bombs was Witcher 2. Geralt was decked out in pretty much all kinds of explosives available. Most encounters ended up as small Hiroshima events. And in order for Geralt to take his clothes off there must have been an all time on duty female bomb squad.
