it helps me carry on (following rage quit) reminding myself that LAG (RTT) is a physical phenomenon, it was not introduced by BW incompetence, it's given and BW could hide it only so much. an other question is whether they could have done a better job, but regardless, there are physical limits to how much lag can be tapered over. (for the interested, a two pager on network game programming techniques that helps to better understand the problem)

There were some improvements too. I am rerunning ME2 just now and in combat Shepard moves as awkward as any lag in ME3MP.

It works, great! Press the hotkey already at the loading screen enroute to a lobby or match and about the time I arrive the tool tells into my ear the host RTT or the best guess of the country the host is in (text2speech apparently works!).
Rule of thumb, you better quit with RTT above:
Vanguards: upto 60ms (play with neighbors only)
Power class or projectile weapon: upto 100ms
weapon class with hitscan weapon: upto 150ms
you start to be teleported around from 200ms

I did retire once when DA:I were released, I spent 4 weeks completing the insanely buggy mess that game was for a long time after launch telling myself that soon I could look forward to DAMP, well DAMP was such a mediocre boring experience I gave up on after a couple of days and went back to MEMP again.

The sensible course of action...

Coming back after taking a break looks fine , you get inundated with " Ah, you're back! " , you feel the luv .
coming out of retirement just looks... " gnaaa, bah, hi man..hadn't you retired ? " .
