What if you could HAVE a werewolf, but he actually turned into an adorable Mabari puppy that fits in your hand? *Suing panda* There's no need to support slavery in order to rivalry romance Fenris - it's not like you need every possible rivalry point in the game to lock him in. You just keep saying 'mages are people!' in front of him enough and he's at 100% rivalry in no time at all! (It also helps if you are nice to him. He hates that.) This is true, I do this in every playthrough. In fact, I like to rival Anders (being a pro-mage but disliking his merging with Justice, there's lazy writing since Anders accuse you of being pro-templar despite of helping everys ingle mage lol you gotta metagame some here tho that's true), Merrill (there are like six books you need to destroy and you can rival her without being a dick), Fenris (pro-mage = easy) and Isabela (this character is the easiest for me). I know my dearies BA and Catilina dont like this, but I like drama - edit. I hope the friendship option returns that was a great way to start a romance with Jaal Oh, I just prefer if my love doesn't want to die. Just like my Hawke – who insist his beautiful, strong, determined, occasionally glowing love, and they live together happily ever after and help the mages to be free. I just love the two rebellious outlaw ride into the sunset through the rainbow. It's my fairy tale – they have enough drama in their life: Anders' romance is the drama itself, don't need to demonizing him for it. His inner fire the most beautiful thing in him, to extinguish that is a crime.

A young, beautiful tevinter mage who seeks to be a part of the upper echelon in the imperium. She'll at first use the main protagonist to somehow gather dirt, backstory material and what not so that she can blackmail others into allowing her a position within that 'upper echelon' in the imperium. But she'll gradually falls in love over the course of the game. Of course she likes a silver-tongue. She likes blackmailing. She does not mind slavery all too much. She'd have an immediate dislike for any race NOT human, but convertable. She generally like manipulation. She'd be a fairly good fit for a straight romance for men. This is kind of interesting if they made her more of a grey character and not to the extreme end of evil. I like the idea of having the two disagree on major points as in slavery but not to the extent where is becomes hate or too unbelievable that the two could reconcile their difference. Anders and Fenris come to mind in the rival romance as something I don't want to see again. Anders because the rivalry was cruel and Fenris supporting slavery when you LI was a slave is again unbelievable. Agreed, and I'd like her to stay grey and neither get reformed by you nor drift off into villainy during the story. I have acquired a considerable dislike for redemption stories, too many of them feel like medieval penitence stories these days, with an accompanying mindset, and it's especially distasteful when coupled with a romance in a game.

I am personally not entirely sure of labeling the character I proposed as 'villainy'. It just seems 'Tevintery' to me. Even Dorian was in "support" of slavery. I believe she may require far bigger plot-plans to really be considered a villain, all she really wants is a seat in the 'upper eschelons' And she does whatever it takes to get that.

Well, if there is no limit to "whatever it takes" that would put any character in the "evil" category. Even by consequentialist ethics - which I'd really like to see in such a character - you have to rationalize the means in terms of the goal, and thus there are some limits to what you allow yourself to do. There are two alternatives, and both are very unpleasant: either you're a megalomaniacal fanatic who thinks their goal is more important than everything else, or you have no ethics at all - which again, makes you "evil" by definition.
So, you'd need to look for where her limits are to make her grey instead of black. One red line could be, for instance, with regard to blood magic: "I've killed no one who didn't deserve it". Depending on standards, that could still be pretty bad, but it could also be just about acceptable to an open-minded person who grew up in a different society. In any case, the important thing is that there is a limit in the first place, i.e. the person has some ethics.

I am no writer I just gave a possible type of character with some specific traits that seemed very applicable to a tevinter-esque, romanceable companion. The professionals could obviously do better with that in mind, megalomaniacal fanatics within Tevinter might or might not have been reserved for the Venatori who we have possibly already dealt with in DA:I and who the Inquisition may have made sure is mostly dealt with throughout the 2 year skip from the main-game and to the Trespasser dlc. I do imagine that blackmail, and manipulation is a normal part of everyday life in Tevinter in their political intrigue... similar to 'the game' in Orlais.

I've heard people suggest Tessa/Vaea/Mae a lot, but what about Marius? Tbh when I first read Magekiller he just seemed like Fenris Lite... as in, a broody former slave but human and with a way less interesting backstory... but I've been rereading the comics and I've changed my mind a bit. He's a perrepatae by design but doesn't harbor any hatred for mages. Quiet dude, decent guy. He's currently on bad terms with Archon Radonis, which could be interesting, and his relationship with Calpernia seems to have ended(?? maybe). Also, dude lit himself on FIRE to scare some Venatori by convincing them he was a demon: Not my type, but someone out there's bound to be interested in Marius, right??

Someone said Bioware, as a whole, is not allowing the romancing of a skin tone that has no relevance in the Dragon Age World. It had historical relevance in the Milky Way Galaxy of the Mass Effect World but is still not then relevant in their current time. All that aside, Jacob was available even if he wasn't popular among the players/Female Sheps who had him available as a het romance. In Dragon Age, you can play a dark skinned character (DA2, DAI) and interact with dark skinned narratively important characters (Every Qunari Character is dark skinned including actual companions Zevran, Isabella, Dorian, Vivienne, Iron Bull). Along with side characters like Barris and Briala who play crucial roles in their quests. *deletes two paragraphs of stuff* you know what, I shouldn't engage with the known troll. *smacks her own hand* bad me *leaves the thread* I don't think the complaints about Jacob romance in ME2 had anything to do with race, did it? He was, by all means, a very good representation. The real issue was the fact that Femshep had no way of romancing Jacob without being a jerk and abusive. Like sometimes it was borderline harassment, and we are talking about the "good" dialogue options. The bad ones were just that. Harassment. And this is not even about the fact that he dumps in you in ME3. Who could blame him tbh? ME2 Shepard deserves it. Other than wearing a tight ass suit, and having a stereotypical dead beat father? And Jacob plays a baby daddy stereotype and run off? Yeah, he's well represented.

He is quite hot ngl I dont know him so I dont know how much of a KISA he has in him (being chivalrous and all) but I trust gomez. The only downside I see is that I want the KISA to be gay and the plot-relevant male character to be bisexual (I have the feeling he's gonna be a mage again especially since it seems we are going to Tevinter), but I dont care at this point as long as we have one. edit. omg he reminds me to Sean Maher in that pic

Like about how Nenealeus turned him into a mage hunter but he doesn't hate mages. He is quite hot ngl I dont know him so I dont know how much of a KISA he has in him (being chivalrous and all) but I trust gomez. I understand that too, and tbh I doubt our companion roster is going to be 90% comic book transfers, just wanted to throw the idea out there as he's a Tevinter native with ties to the Inquisition so that could be interesting. He might not even be a KISA; he could be that plot-relevant bi guy you're talking about.

In addition to the need for dwarves, it really ought to be possible for a male elf PC to romance a female elf - that's never been possible so far in the series. Hell, in Inquisition a male elf can't romance an elf at all.

For once I'd like a human male rogue love interest, haven't had that yet. Someone who's being at it for a long time so they know what they're doing, are confident about it and aint the type that would want to bang everyone on sight. And no old romance baggage, don't want another "Never thought I could love again" yadda yadda.
So basically male human version of Vae now that I think about it. I might be boring but once in a while it's nice to have a "normal" romance with a solid minded character. Like Garrus from Mass Effect, Garrus was awesome. Human Garrus? Yes? Pls?

Hell, in Inquisition a male elf can't romance an elf at all. Yep, I think a female elf that male elves can romance would be good. Male and female elves could romance Zevran, female elves could romance Solas and Sera, and only the very human Hawke could romance Merrill. I hadn't read that comic in a while. Dorian kinda comes off as an Ass in that conversation I think he just wants to clear the air and make sure there's no doubts about them working together. He does the same thing with Bull in their early conversations - "I'm a Tevinter mage, you're a Qunari, am I going to have to worry about you murdering me?" Maybe not the most tactful, but with his background I guess it's just something he wants to clarify.
