Daveth (R.I.P.), Nathaniel would have been much better. Sebastian is... eh. Nathaniel is actually quite close to what I had in mind(also forgot, clearly haven't played the older games in a while). He was pretty solid in mind and overall liked his character, yeah definitely would've romanced had it been an option. what would you prefer archer or dual-wielding? I often ask myself this but with warriors (2H or Shield&Sword) since it's the archetype as LI I tend to like for my mages

Then they could compare which is a better way to rogue. But then again, archer do got that upper body strength, good strong arms and solid back musc.... I mean, both, both are fine. But since we've had so many rogue that are archers, for the sake of difference dual-wield. Bet they can multitask better.

Ooh, speaking of classes and romances, do you like romancing certain classes as certain classes? Like, do you like romancing mages as a mage, or do you like being opposite (a tank with a long-ranged archer/mage LI), or just whatever combination makes sense to you?

I love bows with passion being my weapon of choice if a rpg does not let me be a magical boy, last game I finished was DOS2 and I fulfilled my dream of being a archer witch I do prefer mages that can do some fights by themselves though, that's why I love the knight enchanter/arcane warrior class. Sometimes I find it a little annoying when a love interest is the same class as me XD edit. vertigomez just answered that! I love being a different class, for me the perfect combination is me being a mage with the love interest being a tank, but I'm fine with other magic-based classes or rogue being the LI. I didnt change Fane's wizard starter class but I turned him into a 2H user too because I needed some muscle in my team (love that game's freedom to choose) all my DA canon romances have been warrior, like I said, I have a type lol

I tend to like them being different too, so they balance each other out a bit. I romance Sera, Fenris, and Isabela with mages, and Leliana with a S&S warrior. I'll romance DW rogues with archer rogues and vice versa. The only exception is I like romancing Morrigan with a mage bc the Old God blood magic stuff just seems a good fit lol. And I don't romance him but I like Anders with a mage too. 👌

Anders with a mage is just perfect. But I loved his romance as warrior as well – with Bethany in the Circle. Fenris' very good with mage. The Iron Bull – I prefer with an Adaar mage. I plan to try with a Cadash warrior – I think, it will be good too.

Also since there's been some talk of qunari, I think a qunari rogue might be interesting. The female qunari at the bottom of this image looks like she's wearing some kind of sneaky assassin robes or possibly priest robes. 👀 Or a Fog Warrior/Fog Dancer. Doesn't have to be a romance but after hearing about them from Fenris and Bull I'm eager to get to know more about these Seheron freedom fighter natives.

also request for qunari to look like this again please? At least Bull has an unique design but qunari in the CC are just tall humans with horns to me, the same problem I have with elves being skinny human with pointy ears. Let human be boring hoomans and let non-humans be more non-humans I would love to see a qunari woman with DA2 design

Not so bad with a mage, but two rogues in the party usually isn't the best setup.

I've romanced Zevran with lots of archer rogues, we get our asses handed to us lol. 😭 It's worse because I usually also drag Sten and Morrigan everywhere and they are similarly squishy. No tank makes for a bad time! OTOH, when I romanced Leliana with my dwarven Berserker/Champion we were fucking invincible.

I don't think the complaints about Jacob romance in ME2 had anything to do with race, did it? He was, by all means, a very good representation. The real issue was the fact that Femshep had no way of romancing Jacob without being a jerk and abusive. Like sometimes it was borderline harassment, and we are talking about the "good" dialogue options. The bad ones were just that. Harassment. And this is not even about the fact that he dumps in you in ME3. Who could blame him tbh? ME2 Shepard deserves it. Other than wearing a tight ass suit, and having a stereotypical dead beat father? And Jacob plays a baby daddy stereotype and run off? Yeah, he's well represented. Everyone wear tight suits in mass effect. Stereotypes are not exactly a rare sight among other romance options. See Dorian for example.

Since Jacob did not impregnate Shepard he can't be a "Baby Daddy" Stereotype. But he did sort of wander off during Shepard's imprisonment to make house with someone with a lack of communication but even then maybe he attempted-- Thane is literally sending "I'm dying" videos to Shepard she doesn't get until his funeral. How likely would she have received a "hey, what we had was great and all but I met someone and I'm going to have to break it off with you."
Zilch chance.

The weird obsession I see to stereotype in this thread aside, Jacob is without a doubt the most unoriginal character Bioware has written: lost black dude with an absent father, lol. I mean really? Honestly with regard to romance, the best thing Bioware can do is NOT coddle the player. I never got to romance Ashley, Samara and Morrigan because I wasn't up to scratch. They had values. They had preferences. This idea that we'll get to fuck a prescribed number of people based on immutable characteristics is so counter to good story telling I don't even know where to begin. That can include characters being gay or straight. Not 'player sexual' which is an absolutely retarded idea.

I think all of the characters are Stereotypes, it's just the writing team's job to package it in such a way it feels new. Unoriginality was not my problem with him.

Bombardier beetles can shoot fireballs out of their butts. Birds, bats, insects, and even some plants can straight-up fly. Humans can squeeze water out of their pores, which allows them to run any other creature to exhaustion. And that’s before getting into their ability to communicate, which is basically shallow telepathy, and all the various constructs they can create. Anyone who’s claiming... magic... isn’t natural has a really myopic idea of what’s possible in nature.

It depends generally-but I do like have a team of 2 mages, 1 warrior, and 1 rogue generally when I play Dragon Age. So it helps if I romance a different class from my own-however two mages is easy enough to pull off since I like having 2 mages anyway. Ideally though I'd love to be a mage this next game with that gay kisa warrior keeping me my squishy body and heart safe!

This is the reason why a warrior and Anders is a different feeling than a mage and Anders and this was I felt with Anders and my Warrior, Reinhardt. It was sweet. Even if as I imagine –just like Reinhardt– that Anders' stronger than him as a mage – and more... – still, the safety and the stability was Reinhard to him. He was his bloody knight – and this was lovely. (I admit, I'm bad as playing rogues, so I prefer 3 mages in the group, they're devastating – the rogue is useful at the chests.)

So I was thinking about race distribution. I don't think everything needs to "even out" or anything, but it's interesting to see it laid out like this, especially as there are so many non-human enthusiasts on the board as well as people who prefer to romance humans exclusively. (I only counted romances that have tiles in the Keep, so no Harding or Anora, Tamlen or Gorim, etc.)
M/F: 5 humans, 1 elf, 0 qunari, 0 dwarves F/M: 5 humans, 3 elves, 1 qunari, 0 dwarves M/M: 2 humans, 2 elves, 1 qunari, 0 dwarves F/F: 3 humans, 2 elves, 0 qunari, 0 dwarves
And classes... (counting Josie as a rogue because she was a bard for a bit)
M/F: 1 warrior, 3 rogues, 2 mages F/M: 5 warriors, 2 rogues, 2 mages M/M: 2 warriors, 1 rogue, 2 mages F/F: 0 warriors, 4 rogues, 1 mage

I forgot how skewed these were. My takeaways from this: 1.) MOAR DWARVES, dammit! 2.) Crazy how many human women have been available for straight guys. But it's interesting that you don't see many straight guys asking for non-humans (I guess you do have requests for elves, but not the other species), so maybe that's not a bad thing? 3.) F/F romances are SO crazy skewed. You get a lady rogue. And you get a lady rogue. And you get a lady rogue! Yikes. Y'all need a lady warrior BADLY. And y'all need anything other than a human too. 4.) M/M is surprisingly well balanced. But that won't stop me from wanting my dwarf warrior guy!

Yeah, given how the "weirdest" female LIs for straight guys for a long time were Tali and Liara - and quarians are described as having human hair, and 99% of Tali fanart just has her looking like a human with purple eyes, and asari are basically blue human women - I think there are just a loooot of guys out there who aren't comfortable veering far off "conventionally attractive". People even said Merrill looked like an alien or a twelve-year-old, so maybe that's why there are so many humans for straight guys..? That or the devs THINK that's the case. Maybe if they threw a qunari or dwarf in there they'd be pleasantly surprised. Harding and Dagna and Sigrun are all pretty popular, after all... Surplus of F/F rogues and the boatload of warriors in the F/M category is definitely notable. 😅 I hope you get that dwarf warrior guy. 😁

(I only counted romances that have tiles in the Keep, so no Harding or Anora, Tamlen or Gorim, etc.) M/F: 5 humans, 1 elf, 0 qunari, 0 dwarves F/M: 5 humans, 3 elves, 1 qunari, 0 dwarves M/M: 2 humans, 2 elves, 1 qunari, 0 dwarves F/F: 3 humans, 2 elves, 0 qunari, 0 dwarves And classes... (counting Josie as a rogue because she was a bard for a bit) M/F: 1 warrior, 3 rogues, 2 mages F/M: 5 warriors, 2 rogues, 2 mages M/M: 2 warriors, 1 rogue, 2 mages F/F: 0 warriors, 4 rogues, 1 mage Oof! "Gimme that beard burn, short Daddy."
