DA 4 Romances! New info for real this time!!! Zom-bangin'?

Eggpai noticed me! I don't get why people like that romance. I wonder if they also enjoy when something intensely painful happens to them? Joking sort of...but really I don't get it. I have had people try to explain so please don't feel the need to do so. It's just not something I will ever understand. It's like people who like sports.

Sometimes you just have to accept that other people enjoy a thing that you don't. You know, without saying anything negative about them

There's so much I don't get. Sooo much. I've given up being annoying about Harding. I don't care for her, other people do. They're not crazy. They just like her, and that's fine. I'll stop bugging them about it

It's a pretty voice but pretty voices don't real me in xD

It's just romantic. And I could be ace. That was nice. And sometimes that happens when I play a character... I feel the character falling in love. It's a rare and special feeling, and usually only happens with one NPC per game. 

I actually don't like the sad ending Enough bullshit in real life that I don't need sad endings in my romances, thx bioware. But who can say? The whole thing just stole my heart.

Voice and the notch-on-the-bed aspect of playing a character who locked tongues with a god. Plus he’s... decently smooth at flirting when he’s not preoccupied with being a walking, talking But We Mustn’t billboard.

His hard-to-get nonsense would be a nightmare IRL, and honestly was a nightmare to RP against as well. The villain stuff, whatever, I suspect he has decent reasons having to do with the current progression of the Blight. I just really have a hard time with LIs that get weird about sex. I don’t mean I’d be uninterested in an ace romance, far from it. The part I don’t like is when the LI sends a bunch of mixed signals because they feel guilty about breaking a vow of chastity or feel obligated to go through specific courtship rituals or whatever. Either say yes, no, or not tonight, don’t put all this weight on it.

If Solas had been more confident/casual about his “not tonight”s, it would have been a much more enjoyable romance for me. It’s totally possible to be star-crossed lovers who don’t go into middle school levels of panic about how to say “Let’s pump the brakes a bit. I’m not ready to explain now, but maybe later.” Especially if you’re a couple thousand years old and obviously remember a lot about starting relationships (per the flirting). Act like it!

Oh yeah, this happens to me(my character?) too. And then when it doesn't, poor Lavellan stays single >_<

He doesn’t explicitly get weird about sex until Trespasser (and only if that specific option is picked, which my Lavellan didn’t), but he does get weird about the relationship, usually right after touching.

I just personally have a harder time with the kiss+suddenly pull away cycle, especially when he gets all closed-up about it. Makes me feel like my PC is (perhaps unintentionally) involving him in things he doesn’t want.

I also really disliked his response to Sera’s teasing. Love is great, but it ain’t that special and unique. That one response, more than anything else, is what got me to RP that Lavellan as an old woman convinced that the age gap goes the other way.

I can't help it. I just fall in love so hard. It's why I usually can only romance the same person over and over again. Only time I can change is if I change gender.

Yep in hindsight, I am extremely pleased that it worked out that way. at the time it was quite annoying. 

Hmm. I'm not sure I know how to elaborate on this much, tbh. For me it's like saying what my favorite color is. I guess I can explain why, but only in fairly vague terms.

I love stories about all kinds of relationships, so it's not even necessarily a specific adoration of mine, just par for the course in what I like to experience in my fiction. I also love stories that involve complex protagonist/antagonist interaction, and stories about reluctant allies having to cooperate side by side, and stories about platonic devotion between friends. I love it when interactions between characters develop quiet and subtextual significance. Emotional potency. Romantic plots are one of the numerous ways to develop that. 

It’s Solas’ vehemence that throws me off. Casually deflecting her ribbing would have been one thing, but he’s immediately revved to fully defensive.

Sure, but passionate love is a work of decades. Solas’ feelings would be more like a crush, or his brain tricking him into wanting something precisely because he can’t have it. Someone in love could have laughed off Sera’s ribbing, because it would pose zero threat to their relationship. He’s experiencing the emotional equivalent of lust — which is fine, and could very well grow into love over a long time, but he’s already put too much weight on it. He acts like he’s found The One, not A One.
