I'd prefer if both folks in the romance had their low moments where they were bouyed up by the other. I liked how in MAss Effect 3, I could RP someone really breaking under the stress. It'd be nice to stress out, and be comforted. But then the other person ALSO have a moment of stress that I could comfort them. Want it to go both ways. Definitely agree with this! Support and be there for each other! I liked that in Sera's romance. She needed a lot of reassurance but she also "ran out of arrows making them pay" when people hurt her Inquisitor and she wasn't shy about her feelings (good or bad). Speaking of.... moar honesty! I love brutally honest characters like Sera and Fenris. Even when they're being tactless or downright cruel they're at least being upfront with you, which is the oooonnne gripe I have about Isabela (though she has her reasons. No one's ever put Isabela first, so Isabela has to in order to protect herself. Her selfishness is almost a defense mechanism from people treating her like trash... looking at you, Madam Hari and Luis!!!!!). I don't like being lied to lmao. It's something that irks me with Morrigan, Anders, Solas, etc. Even Isabela, 'cause my first playthrough when I found out she lied about the relic and the Qunari I was PISSED and I never saw her again. At the same time I love le fictional dramas so even if I'd be super duper mad and betrayed at being duped, if it was well-written like those above I'd probably get over it.

Just going to casually drop in that gay men in DAO can’t reject Morrigan without an approval hit, yet you don’t see us complaining about it ad nauseam.

Last scene I had with Tekehu was one holding his hands when he was kinda sad. Can we normalize holding hands in the m/m romances? So lovely I want to cry 😭

For my favorite romance so far, I would say Iron Bull, specifically with a male dwarf Inquisitor, Lol!
There are some minor issues re: his romance, for example his constant flirting with other companions and him matter-of-factly talking about screwing around with the bar maids while my poor Inquisitor is trying to get Bull to notice him but is being ignored.
Also, I was initially put-off by the whole 'this is how things are going to go' and 'this is what you need' aspects of the relationship, but it was easy enough to play an Inquisitor who was fine with Bull being in charge.
But once the romance gets going, Bull is very sweet and they quickly become exclusive (no more barmaids) and so long as the Chargers are saved, everything is golden. The fact that saving the Chargers is the 'good' choice and causes Bull to be a loyal sweetheart is even better because I detest the Qun and I'm glad that the Inquisitor is able to free Bull from those shackles. Not only do I believe that deep down he is happy about leaving the Qun, despite his initial doubts, but I believe that he loves his Chargers more than his fellow Qunari.
Plus, he's very smart (the mental chess game with Solas) and observant, and surprisingly very kind. After all, he sacrificed an eye saving someone who was at the time a complete stranger.

While I don’t like Anders for many reasons, him hitting on you and his negative reaction if you decline is not one of them.

I know between that and the gravity scene-I felt like BioWare had denied me the chance to roleplay a gay Ryder. He read as bisexual with a male preference. Last scene I had with Tekehu was one holding his hands when he was kinda sad. Can we normalize holding hands in the m/m romances? So lovely I want to cry 😭 Yes, so much this! holding hands is very romantic, and gay/pan/bisexual men do hold hands. They make out. they cuddle. they do all the romantic stuff other couples do. It just makes sense BioWare-to use your words.

Speaking of flirting, one thing I would like BioWare to copy from MEA for the next Dragon Age if having different options for the flirts. DAI kind of did this where the flirts matched the tone of the romance but I really liked how some of the flirts in MEA let you have different kinds for the same flirt. It would be great for role playing since our character could use things from sweet and innocent to spicy and devious and everything in between. It’d also be great to see the LI’s reactions to the different types.

With the escape pod scene, if you wait until you are locked into a romance PeeBee won’t proposition you and there is nothing else in the scene that would go against your character being gay. I always wait until I lock in before doing that scene after finding that out and it really helps imo.

They could have a little heart icon to indicate a flirt option that is more of a compliment, or a shy flirt, or an awkward flirt (I think you are cute, etc). A big heart icon could indicate a flirt option that is more direct : (We'll bang, okay? (TM))

Basically like the Investigate option but with romantic comments instead of inquisitive ones.

Oh dear god Peebee I just can't.
Thank goodness I knew that was coming. It's been ages since I last played Andromeda, so I don't quite remember what button I had to press to push her off, but I know that I was rapid-fire slamming that button the moment that cutscene triggered.
It took forever to push her off, and I had to watch helplessly as Ryder had that small smile on his face the whole time. Ahhh!
They would never dream of pulling that sort of thing with a male character, so people complaining about gay male characters flirting with them just seems silly in comparison IMO.

It’d also be great to see the LI’s reactions to the different types. I agree with this. There are elements of this already - like, in the same conversation if you skip the first flirt and go for the second one, that can change the tone of the scene, but most people don't know about that because they click on the first flirt they see, not wanting to miss out in case there AREN'T more opportunities. I know in Isabela's romance when she shows up at Hawke's mansion, if you choose the first flirt you'll say, "you can get your kicks in Hightown, if you know where to look" but if you skip that one and choose the second flirt (at least as a woman) Isabela will suggest "girly fun" and snarky Hawke replies, "What, like shopping?" Aggressive Hawke is funny too: "You think I'm girly??" Also DA2 (and maybe DAI?) occasionally had multiple heart responses, where you could choose between a couple (at the same time, so not like the above example). But yeah, having multiple different flirt options beside each other would be nice, even better if they had different tones to allow for RPing.

Basically like the Investigate option but with romantic comments instead of inquisitive ones. In an ideal world, yes. Flirt options having their own separate dialogue wheel would be fantastic. But I could see that being an issue with the voice acting budget, especially if they stick with 4 voice actors. I think it would be interesting for different LIs to react more positively to light and sweet flirts and more negatively to hot and heavy flirts, and vice-versa depending on the character. But I would be happy with two consistent flirt options: light and heavy.

I want a romance where I get broken up with in the harshest way possible, and then there could be a sidequest to get me government-subsidised therapy so I don't harm myself.
I mean, that's one we can ALL relate to, right guys?!
