I wonder if it's the nudity thing. But there has to be ways to avoid that, one would think. If they are doing "spicy" romances, they better have nudity toggles like Cyberpunk 2077 and BG3.

"select three presets for each corner of a triangle and then move a cursor within it to morph your body or head into a mix of these presets" That's insane. Has it ever been done before? Can't imagine the amount of work it took... I think Fallout 4 had something like that, iirc.

So, some more details but overall not much new. I'm assuming the 40 horns are horn+hair combinations? If it's just horns, and we can pick hair independently, it would be amazing! From what I can infer they have mostly left the DAI cc for a more traditional slider based one (with the exception of the body triangle one). Mixed feelings, the DAI cc was not easy to use, but great for really making your character unique. Then again, if the sliders offer lots of options that's still going to be a thing. I'm really hoping the qunari look great, would be fun trying one out! As long as "hornless" remains an option

Be amazed, Corinne already confirmed Qunari's horn and hair are split a while back...I'm pretty sure it was Corinne who confirmed it. Whop whooooop! This kind of thing is why I NEED them to release the character creator separately. By the time I've dithered over forty horn options and decided what colour my girl's hair should be, everyone else will have finished the game. I'm glad to hear that they're adding unnatural hair colours at exactly the point I've come up with a main character who would definitely dye her hair. Maybe if I can't settle on a colour I'll just change it after every main mission ...

Gotta make him regret he dumped her right?

I assume a prosthetic, now that there's real in-game precedent.

I was just thinking about that. Yep, my Q will be a hornless female with the "right" proportions. Sten's stature, after all, is human like. And my dwarf?... taller than normal... a giant among dwarves. I'm unsure about a beard though.
Bio changed the appearance of the elf, again. I might as well make additional changes.... more exotic looking.... yes, my avatar will have distinction.

Moon Prism Power, MASK UP! @sourcedumal How many Black coded hairstyles did you see in there? Because that's always an issue that never gets really resolved in these games
Wesley LeBlanc @leblancwes I don’t have an exact number but there’s a good bit for sure! And they said they worked with Black consultants to ensure they got hairstyles and textures right and authentic for masculine and feminine options
saira @sairaspooks huge vouch for dragon age: the veilguard’s character creator. i tested it during early development, and even then it had some of the best customization options i’ve ever seen.
shoutout to the design and animation team for pouring so much love into it! it doesn’t go unnoticed 💜
Derek Wilks @deremix I can confidently say myself that when I messed around with the character creator, it was absolutely one of the best I’ve EVER played with. And that was in its earlier stages.

elle tchi @elenatchii anyway the hair for the character creator is the direct result of a ton of work and love by the character art/tech anim/graphics programming team, including the Frostbite team and our OS partners
Took me a while to find it again, but watch this great talk about the strand hair tech by two members of the Frosbite who helped us tons!!
The technology has gone so far since that talk, and they really worked with us to improve it so it could handle much curlier hair than what was possible before without blowing up the budget

Be amazed, Corinne already confirmed Qunari's horn and hair are split a while back...I'm pretty sure it was Corinne who confirmed it. Do you have that confirmation anywhere? Link or image? I don't remember Corinne actually confirming it, she said during the Discord Q&A that she really loves playing as a Qunari and there are so many hair options for them as opposed to DAI and now this article talks about there being about 40 horn options, but the fact that hair and horns are separate, as far as I know, is just assumed on our part. If you know where she actually confirmed this, or any dev, please let me know, because I also really want this. I'm glad to hear that they're adding unnatural hair colours at exactly the point I've come up with a main character who would definitely dye her hair. Maybe if I can't settle on a colour I'll just change it after every main mission ... I'm also curious if there are highlights that you can color differently from the rest of the hair or ombres.

In this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, the crew discusses our recent trip to Bioware for our Dragon Age: The Veilguard cover story... Enjoying that Wesley (who seems to be leading GI's coverage of DATV!) is all-in on the game and it's his most anticipated release of the year now that Elden Ring's DLC is out (I've made a start on that myself and will put more hours in this weekend!). To the point he's reading more fantasy after playing it, which in turn has them talking briefly about how many Dragon Age books and comics are out (and also comment that obviously there's fan fiction haha). I know that Dragon Age has kinda always been a mainstream series, Origins released to acclaim and hype surrounding it being "from the studio of Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, Mass Effect!". I had missed a lot of Origins build-up and somehow went under my radar mostly, so only really noticed that October, weeks before release, so that sudden hype hit me and I got the game from the branch of HMV near my office on release day! But it feels like it's suddenly hit mainstream again. So many people talking about it, it feels like the summer of 2014 before Inquisition was out and EA + Bioware were finally unleashing the preview goodies. Hope we get to see more gameplay/combat in July (or in August via Gamescom). I've reached Inquisition in my re-play (yep, going got female elf, finally properly checking out a Solavellan playthrough to see what it's all about fully) and yeah, gonna soak up all the world and lore etc before Veilguard. It's finally happening, I'm feeling slight hype for 'DA4' now it looks great...

DAVG is 57th most wishlisted game on Steam, it was barely within top 100 before cinematic reveal trailer dropped. Pretty impressive for a studio that hasn't put out anything new since 2019 and hasn't had an uncontroversial release since 2014. Are these wishlists mostly dormant DA fans, I wonder, or just new players who like what they've seen so far? I would say they are gamer who know BioWare as a brand, but don't know all the games. I also saw some ME fans that are really hyped for DA because of the more ME gameplay.

Are these wishlists mostly dormant DA fans, I wonder, or just new players who like what they've seen so far? There are new fans, especially with multiple sales of Dragon Age titles over the years and especially recently.
As for the sales, well in 2021 MELE was released and it sold between 1.4 million to 2.2 million copies on Steam alone since. Add to unknown number of copies sold on EA App directly and later on Epic, that really shows there's still significant interest by old and new fans for BioWare IPs.
Hell Andromeda sold between half a million to 1.8 million copies too, even though it was released on Steam 3 years after it's release, as part of massive return of EA titles in June 2020. In fact I went to check, Inquisition just as well if not slightly better, as it also goes around half a million to 2.1 million copies sold.
Anthem is the only BioWare title not released on Steam.
But +4794 in a week is really good. They have dropedd no big infos this week. 38,661 follower in total.
What is the difference between follow and wishlist? I only use wishlist on steam.

The only thing I can think of otherwise is that there's still a surprise in there they might want to keep for later, something that would gain traction and spread the word of the game more? I don't know what kind of spoilers the CC could give away, but it is an intriguing thought. The Keep is in the CC. Maybe their is a spoiler.

They are thinking about its inclusion in the marketing campaign. Even though the hype has mellowed out a little bit since the reveal, I'm sure they are keeping it in the dark just to keep us on the edge. If I am in the marketing, I'd do the same. It would be a waste to show CC a few weeks after the big premiere and have nothing left to make big splashes. As for Keep being in the CC, I doubt it. Didn't they say the game is fully offline? If Keep is going to be incorporated, there's gonna be online account login and such which would be contrary to what they claimed.

I wonder if it's the nudity thing. But there has to be ways to avoid that, one would think. If they are doing "spicy" romances, they better have nudity toggles like Cyberpunk 2077 and BG3. yes they have. And i hope i can avoid it. I don't know at the moment where I heard it.

"select three presets for each corner of a triangle and then move a cursor within it to morph your body or head into a mix of these presets" That's insane. Has it ever been done before? Can't imagine the amount of work it took... Also, 40 horns options? I might be tempted to make a qunari now I actually had to laugh at this, because... yes - indeed, it's been done before. I know it from Elder Scrolls Online, where it's been present since 2014 Granted, I assume the Bioware's one may be a bit more advanced, since ESO one can be quite subtle. Yeah everything they so proudly listed has been in Fallout 4 since 2015, not sure about Skyrim anymore, been a while. Nose tip? Yup. ALL of that! I mean, it's all GREAT but I gotta roll my eyes a bit whenever the hype machine gets going pretending that a game offers something unique when it doesn't. It's a BIG improvement over previous DA games, of course, but there have been amazing CC before in plenty od other games. The triangle thing in Bethesda games isn't that impressive though. It's basically a muscle definition slider. Either skinny or buff. Now in Starfield I think you can make an actually overweight person for the first time in their games. And it also has a kind of unique blender feature that takes some practice to use. I kinda doubt DAV will outdo the insane customizability of certain Asian MMOs but then again BioWare has to account for cutscenes, especially romance scenes. Which used to be the reason why height sliders weren't possible. So I'd keep the hype in check.

The Keep is in the CC. Maybe their is a spoiler. I think it's not about spoilers. It's about hype. You missunderstood me. They let us answer questions in the CC via tarot card like in the Keep. So they incorporate the keep in the CC to make the game offline.

yes they have. And i hope i can avoid it. I don't know at the moment where I heard it. I think I read it somewhere but it has certainly been mentioned in one of the You Tube videos by people who have been granted an early sneak peek.

I actually had to laugh at this, because... yes - indeed, it's been done before. They have to compeat with DD2 CC. That was the last hyped CC i heared of.
