Storage for documents below. Storage for blades above. I used to work at a place which had cobbled-together big workspace tables almost just like this. We just didn't have the barrels to prop up the corners.

I understand that everyone has different preferences but personally i love capes. I hope DAVe will have capes similar to this The first and last ones are what I would call cloaks. Those I don't mind. They typically serve a purpose. Capes are ridiculous and useless accoutrement.

However, as far as i concerned, capes still serve the purpose. Which is to make my character look fabulous.

Though impractical and tends to get caught in jet turbines. Well we don't have those in Thedas, so far as I know. Thedas does have missiles(ballistas in this case), elevators, places our characters take off, and vortexes.

Here's the whole thread where Jeff says "late October": Felassan #SaveSerault (they/them) @felassanlivesJeff Grubb today on DA:TV: "Last I heard, is it’s gonna be October. I think that’s, that was like weeks ago, that could have changed". (1/?) (2/?) "I’m looking here, it’s still October, late October though, so, again that could shift between now and when they actually announce the date, but I expect that probably to be the time, because it’s been the time, like, what they’ve been aiming for, for a while now-" (3/3) "- for the last few months, so late October for Dragon Age: The Veilguard." [...] "Every time I hear anything from/about this game, or we hear publicly about this game, people seem pretty confident about it behind the scenes, and that is infectious." Nearly 3 months of waiting. Not great, not terrible, if true. Yeah I don't think that's too bad as Octobe ris kind of when I was expectin gi tand that's kin dof how I'm planning my gamin timetabl eon asI know it'll tak em eroughl ya mont ht ocomplete the Mass Effec tgames I' mplayin gatm an danothe rmonth to pla yth eDragon Age ones and basically I'm planning t opla yFC 25 and m yothe rFifa games in between finishin gInquisition and stasrting Veilguard .Of copurse i tlargely depend son how quick I work through them bu tthat's m yplan.

And really, what's the difference between a jet engine and the open maw of a dragon flying overhead? Maybe just fire goes the opposite direction? I think if my Rook does any flying, that cape is staying at the Lighthouse in a very safe wardrobe for Dramatic Moments.

Rock Paper Shotgun published an article that says DA4 is a " single-character action RPG" rather than a true party RPG (read paragraph starting with EDWIN). This confirms my observation from the 20mins gameplay video demo from June of this year. Mass Effect combat has come to Dragon Age. Shep in ME does most the the combat kills and apparently so will Rook. This will make my Magus Rook a very busy beaver during the fight which forces me to be very nimble with my keyboard keys.

I mean we've known this for awhile now and suspected it for how longer... But wouldn't forcing the player to switch to the other characters and then manually press all their ability buttons require a lot more button presses and keyboard nimbleness? Like if Rook just has to worry about himself and giving orders to his companions then that is all he has to worry about so, less button presses.

You don't need 100 keys that are impossible to locate in the heat of the moment for a console game. You only need two thumbs and two forefingers to use a controller. It is time to invest in a controller. DAMP was very difficult with K&M, but a controller made life easier ... I expect DAtV to be similarly frustrating on K&M. If and when I get DAtV, I will be using a controller in story mode.

True. However, I anticipate frequent PAUSEs which reduces game pacing . The fight lasts longer than it should be and may become boring. I found the very early access to BG3 quite a slog during combat. I fear this may a slog too with all that PAUSE. So, I'm waiting with anticipation the K&M demo, if it comes out.
Be as it may, Bio did add some assists, like auto aiming, though some of those cool-down numbers seem excessive.

The talk of cloaks reminded me this Warden cosplay shot with this great off-the-one-shoulder cloak. I quite like asymmetrical designs in gear and I'm hoping to see some in DA:V.

Davrin and Neve are similar
The concept art was before they change to single player and have most of the VA cast ready. They have said the VA have change the Companions to some degree.
It isn't a different game only more finished than back in the days. It could be that they wanted swimming in the game, but cut it because they needed the time to make the game Single player.
At the time of the 2020 concept art and Behind the Scenes video they said we shouldn't place too more store but what we saw in those group pictures. They were more placeholders and they were still deciding on the final cut for companions. That original line up had 8 people in total, which would seem to be consistent with what we are getting, 7 companions and Rook. Glowing bubble head seems to have morphed into Emmrich and Manfred instead of being just one person. There was an Assassin's Creed looking character, which is obviously the Crow Lucanis, a female Qunari (although the model for the 2020 picture was just a big human with horns) which would be Taash and a female mage off to the left hand side that was likely a stand-in for Neve. There was a strange looking person with what appeared to be a gun or crossbow over their shoulder which may have been a stand-in for Bellara. That just left a central character that approximated for Rook and a couple of other generic looking male characters, neither of which seem to have been included in the final line up as the remaining slots were filled by Davrin (who was definitely already in the mix) and Harding. It is possible they were thinking of including swimming at one point but clearly decided against it (unless that is something they are going to surprise us with). One of the other individuals in that picture looked like Isabella and she could still feature in a cameo when we go to Rivain, just as Dorian could still make a cameo appearance in Tevinter. I agree. But i think the Assassin's Creed one is the stand in for the HC. The one you call female mage is the one i think is a crow not a mage. And i also think it is the one with the maske in concept art. So i think Lucanis should have been a female character first. The central character is neve, because of the Tevinter outfit. Davrin is the one that every one said looks like a warden. from left to right: Lucanis, Taash, Davrin, Neve, Harding, HC, Bellara and Emmric.

I hope DAVe will have capes similar to this Now you see I don't call those capes but cloaks and, yes, I'd really like either of the top and bottom one. The middle one is still a cloak but more decorative than practical, purely for show. I understand a cape to be much shorter, probably hanging no lower then hip height, whereas anything knee length or lower is a cloak. A cloak is more for travel, whereas a cape is better for combat. Also, better for riding a horse, which we won't be doing this game. In the image below I would say the Cavalier is wearing a cloak and the Herald is wearing a cape.

Sorry that I correct you. But it is importent to be exact here. You lost the word more on the way. "He found it to be more of a "single-character action-RPG" than a true party-based RPG in the vein of its predecessors, but he was also plenty impressed with its world, combat and characters." So tactic is their but not in the way we are used to. Also you don't know on which difficulty setting he has played. The dev. said tactics is more importent in higher difficulty.

Thedas does have missiles(ballistas in this case), elevators, places our characters take off, and vortexes. I now have this mental image of Rook's cloak getting caught in a ballista and being launched into oblivion. And really, what's the difference between a jet engine and the open maw of a dragon flying overhead? I was thinking more of the vortex of air drawing you in, so it depends on whether the dragon is breathing in or out. If the dragon breathes fire at you it doesn't really matter what you are wearing (unless it is a fire proof cloak), just best to keep running. A cloak might slow you down because of wind resistance. Could be useful against a bear though. Wait until the bear grabs the cloak in its jaws and then unfasten it. The bear is left mauling the cloak whilst you escape. Of course, outer wear would be more important if we had to worry about the weather but it seems not to matter whether we are in snowy highlands, rainy lowlands or scorching desert, the climate never bothers us.

But i think the Assassin's Creed one is the stand in for the HC. No, I'm pretty sure that is the tall character 4 from the left. The Hero Character is going to be the most prominent one in the image. They likely only came up with the idea of a concealed HC in the marketing much later. So i think Lucanis should have been a female character first. It is possible they were thinking of this because of the female Crow concept art but the only one introduced in TN (other than the old Crow in her story) was Teia and she was too high ranking plus in a relationship, so it always seemed unlikely. Also they have called Lucanis a Short King and that guy is shorter than those around him. The central character is neve, because of the Tevinter outfit. Not really typical and why would they make her the most prominent figure of the group. from left to right: Lucanis, Taash, Davrin, Neve, Harding, HC, Bellara and Emmric. Sorry but there is no way I see that person 3 from the left as a Warden and definitely not Davrin as he is a warrior and that is far more a generic rogue look. That is why I think he was definitely just a placeholder. So my line up from left to right would be: Placeholder female mage (Neve), Taaash, Placeholder rogue (Harding), Rook, Bellara, Lucanis, Placeholder (Davrin) and Placeholder (Emmrich/Manfred)

This is is terrible for any hopes for significant news for Mass Effect by next N7 Day. DAV will be released by that time. So no reason not to give some news. They won't be big anyway, the game is in pre-production stages last I checked. And even if they started some production, it would be waaaaaaay too early for anything of substance. We are talking about a title that would release no earlier than 2028.

So my line up from left to right would be: Placeholder female mage (Neve), Taaash, Placeholder rogue (Harding), Rook, Bellara, Lucanis, Placeholder (Davrin) and Placeholder (Emmrich/Manfred) I think the guy next to the spirit might be an early Emmrich concept - because he's level with Taash but as tall as her, looks more like he's wearing a robe/skirt than trousers, and his hair is white. Plus, y'know, being next to a possessed corpse that's probably Manfred.

That's the thing, significant news would be if NME entered production and it got announced on N7 Day.
But late October release means is very unlikely that ME team is moved back to NME development to begin production properly before N7 Day.

I think I mentioned at one point that I thought Lucanis originally was a female Crow, nice to see I'm not alone anymore!
They probably switched her out when they realized the party was starting to become mostly women. If so it's a shame, we really haven't met that many female Crows, but I guess Harding was not going anywhere and they likely didn't want to remove our first female Qunari... not to mention I think Bellara will be important to the story, so changing her was probably not ideal either. Neve was likely the other one that might have been changed, but then they'd have two male mages and one warrior, and I guess they preferred an even spread.
All speculation obviously, so take it with a mine of salt lol.

I think the guy next to the spirit might be an early Emmrich concept - because he's level with Taash but as tall as her, looks more like he's wearing a robe/skirt than trousers, and his hair is white. Plus, y'know, being next to a possessed corpse that's probably Manfred. You could be right about that. Emmrich does seem very tall for a human and does have an interesting outfit that would approximate that one, so perhaps the shorter hair came later when they were deciding on his appearance. That would mean Davrin is absent from that particular line up, which would make sense if they always anticipated him having a griffon because they wanted to keep that surprise for later. Lots of the game play mechanics in the 2020 video featured a Grey Warden and of course it also featured his VA, so he was a definite at that time and thus PW's comment that we shouldn't read too much into the line-up because it wasn't set in stone, turned out to be correct since Davrin didn't even feature in it.
