Yes, I can suffer through bad/boring gameplay if the story and/or characters are amazing. The best gameplay can't save a bad story or dull characters for me if I can't be invested in those. Companions are the "soul" for me. That being said it's a plus if the gameplay is great! But I'm not really that picky and I like to play quite a lot of different things.

And it was still a weird way of doing it right? Like it was based off of crafting materials. I liked it for the most part. The only thing that annoyed me was that there were no proper blue cloths that I could use to give Vivienne the full Ice Mage look to go with Solas's fire, Dorian's lightning, and Lavellan's nature.

In this game, I haven't paid much attention to the companions. I know I like Harding because of her time in DAI. The others I don't know enough until I play the game. If the main character turns out to be a dud, no matter how much I like the companions, I will not like the game. With the combat, it looks ok even though I've moaned and groaned about a few things, but I'm not thrilled with the removal of the playable companion mechanic and the reduction in the number of companions taken on a quest.

Pretty sure dyes were not at launch in DAI. Yes, but DAI already had a crafting system, so i assume it wasn't difficult for Bioware to add dyeing. I don't think it will be as easy in DAVe, so i doubt they will add it.

And it was still a weird way of doing it right? Like it was based off of crafting materials. It was, which limited things because colors were tied to crafting materials slot type, so all leather would be the same color, all metal the same and all cloth the same and some equipement had undyable parts that always stayed the same color. It was very basic.

Pretty sure dyes were not at launch in DAI. yeah I'm just more worried about the implication of different colored armors which could lead to inventory bloat.

So if surnames are determined solely by faction, this means that there are six "potential" Rooks, same as the "potential" Wardens in Origins if you don't account for Amell and Surana, and more than the four "potential" Inquisitor's in Inquisition. I wonder what fate will befall the five Rooks that the player does not choose. This also gives more freedom than either Origins or Inquisition for constructing our All Rooks Headcanons.

From what I understood of the Q&A, the color variants are mostly cosmetic only version that goes straight into the transmorg list and not in inventory (and you buy them at vendors or find them as loot).

If all 4 races share the same surname that will feel weird to me faction based or not. Like are we a orphan adopted by the faction? Why would a dwarf a elf and a qunari have the same surname? Is it fully confirmed that surnames are solely based on faction with no racial factor? While I get all 6 factions having the same background but even the inquistor had some deeper lore into who they were in the world as a qunari or elf be Inquisition.

Yeah they said on the Q&A they sometimes reference your last name and it would be too many combinations to handle both race and faction based names, so it is only based on faction. I do agree it seems a bit awkward but maybe they will have some explanation for it (or we just have to head canon it to make sense).

Each faction having four different names, for a total of twenty-four potential names, would be too unwieldy. Edit:

One of the best part of Origins for me was how each Origin also introduced you to the culture of Ferelden. With us going up North and it being suppose to be a cultural difference I like when my characters feel interacted with the world. I get we are going more of the faction based route and I'm not asking for the pre faction like origins quest but I simple surname and small backstory like they did for the Inquisitor would have more then been enough especially if our surname doesn't play a heavy part, then I would say that small bit of effort even more also helps with character building too. If anything it would've made more sense for each Race to have the same name despite the faction then the other way around.

ok but RPG mechanics !!!! not "nudity" "kisses" "hug" "pets" etc etc... Those are not things that make a game good or bad. Lol, all those things you mention are actually mechanics of an RPG game, since they directly impact the roleplaying experience. Try to play vampire bloodlines, the best action rpg ever made...no companions, no romance, just a good game with good story and atmosphere would you tell me "oh no that's bad, i can't have a romance"?

Read the transcript. Bio almost, almost made me believe. They sold me about the game as an offline RPG designed as a "true" RPG, marketed as a "true" RPG, lots pf player agengy. A bit weak about cranking up the companions' damage output and seems to be tied to something else....
NPC interactions and char growth is there... all good stuff. If I did not know better, one could call DA4 a video novel...
But, will the game deliver?

So they confirmed that Emmrich is the only companion older than late-twenties to early-thirties. This means that all of the other companions were children during the events of Origins. This is the opposite of Inquisition, where all of the companions were at least young adults during Origins except for Sera, who was a preteen or early teens at the time.

No, they would be 18-20 year olds during Origins. Origins was twenty years ago. Someone thirty-one in Veilguard would have been eleven during Origins.

Is that a game from a studio renowned for games that have romanceable companions? One that has put a lot of emphasis on there being these well-crafted, romanceable companions in the new DA chapter - and even went as far as to change its name to reflect on that very important aspect of this particular RPG series???
