I wonder if we're going to explore other lands besides the Anderfels and Tevinter. The Silent Plains gets mentioned a lot. It was a setting in Tevinter Nights, Nadia went there in Vows and Vengeance, the town Solas is nearby it. There's a fair chance we'd visiting.

Does anyone have an idea when the next content from IGN will drop? Within this week. The end of the week very certainly. If not, definitely next week.

Does anyone have an idea when the next content from IGN will drop? Btw, I know everyone would suggest Tevinter Nights as something to read before the game, but with all the Grey Warden/Crossroads content, I'd honestly suggest The Last Flight and The Masked Empire. They'llb edroppin gfeatures across the month o fSeptrembe rbut w edon' tknow exactl ywhen each o fthem will drop. M ygues sis probably a narticl eor a coupl eo f videos a week. I don' tknow if I'll watc hall of them personall yas I am considrein ggoin gdark soon and jus twait fo rht egame bu twe'll see.

I still remember seeing Garrus's reveal as Arkangel in the ME2 marketing. That would have been so cool to come across fresh in the first playthrough. The lesson I took from that is to keep spoilers to a minimum. I somehow managed to avoid all of ME2's marketing. Back in the day only cared when the game is released, good times I only heard a bit about Jack.
But when I got to Omega I heard we are going after a "Turian vigilante" and kinda sarcastically thought "hmmm, I wonder who could that be...".

I'm still thinking about that poor human Rook twink cosplaying as a Qunari, like he was fooling somebody. A face not even a Broodmother could love. I didn't know whether I was watching a clip from Veilguard or a scene from "White Chicks". Honey, how the mighty have fallen. And the Arishok greatly disapproves.

He does look like a teenager. Another Pee-Bee. Maybe that's what took me aback. The Rook display is hardly a vet in anything except in diapers.
But, the good news is that we can shape the face we want with the CC.

You could make a Qunari that look just as human in DAI. The original Qunari in screenshot back in June also looks more rugged. Surprise, the game has a charactet creator!

This whole situation reminds me of something else out of the BG III/ D&D space I have seen recently. In the movie you had the Tiefling Doric who was essentially a cute forest creature that could just do Druid stuff but looked very human just with a tail and what not. So naturally when BG III came along and Tieflings were basically portrayed as monstrous devils pretty uniformly I thought the movie made a bit of a mistake and took a lot of artistic liberty/ didn't really convey a proper tiefling because of budget. But recently someone posted a pretty convincing Doric look alike that they were able to create with the BGIII character creator.
The lesson? People come in all shapes and sizes, even tieflings, and we shouldn't just assume things. Veilguard's CC sounds at least as robust as BG IIIs from a physical standpoint and, well like it or not, they have also been really pushing player agency this time as well...even mentioning tall Dwarves. So seems we'll have human looking Qunari but also very much NOT human looking Qunari.

People complained about qunari look in Inquisition as well, iirc. Although I loved my Adaar, my second favorite Inquisitor after my Lavellan. I was looking at some Inky MCs, and some of them def have very smooth, oily looking skin, while others have more obvious pores and blemishes. So I'm hoping this is just CC going for overly smooth texture.

So seems we'll have human looking Qunari but also very much NOT human looking Qunari. I must admit I find the criticism of the latest Qunari Rook rather strange. Only a few weeks back we had people complaining that Taash wasn't feminine enough for them, which sounded to me like they just wanted a sexy, tall human female with horns rather than an actual Qunari companion. So, now they show a Rook that looks more like a human with horns and people are saying he doesn't look Qunari enough. Surely all they are doing is showing how it is pretty much up to the player how they set up their Qunari. If they just want a tall, human with horns and smooth skin, then go for it. If they want something more akin to the Arishok in DA2, well I dare say they can do that too. I'm just excited that my elven Rook can have long hair that flows in the wind and hopefully won't look as skinny as I did as a teenager (my two gripes about DAI when it first came out). Since we can vary their height, I won't be bound by their original concept of elves shorter than humans either. Perhaps I can finally have an elf that looks more like they come from Middle Earth than D&D (where the shorter, weaker elf concept seemed to originate) At present I am just counting the days to when I can play the game. However, it would be helpful to see a complete skill tree layout for each class. Would that really be a spoiler? In particular it would be helpful to know more about the specialisms since I thought that was something we had to choose at the beginning of the game and couldn't change half way through, or was that just the faction? I keep checking the official site to see if they have updated the information there because it would be helpful to have it all in one place and certified as the correct interpretation by the Devs.

But yes I to find a lot of this strange. Also commentary on the Qunari seeming 'not alien enough' and 'to human'. Of course they look/ act human. Humans are writing and desigining them. As long as they are bipedal creatures with sentience we are going to put our own values onto them of human cultures. Its truly very rare to create an entirely alien culture/ situation.

I don't know that I've ever bought into the 'they feel alien' aspect other people mention about qunari. Arishok is a great character, but he's pretty clearly a martial warlord from a collectivist society, with philosophical and political leanings pulled from Confucianism and Plato's Republic. There's just a lot shrouded in mystery because we only ever see their spies and soldiers.

Rook Qunari has no pores, or lines or blemish or anything. He's got the Instagram influencer filter on. And he goes slightly crossed eyed when talking (perhaps the height and eye tracking is having trouble) and he always has the weirdest little smile on. Also the giant forehead. He's got very average pretty boy features too, but that's just the cherry on top.

He has all that - they just that they've dialed down the skin shine (so called 'roughness' in 3D) to minimum, probably to showcase that it can be done in CC. Which is a good thing, because the opposite was the problem in Inquisition and nothing could be done about it, save modding.
