I still fail to understand the obsession with the purple, either for or against. lol I truly had no idea people had such strong opinions either way on that color before.
In many color studies, purple has been observed to have a huge gender divide where it is among top favorite colors for women but top disliked colors for men (at least in the US).
Oh my darlings ... it's laaavenderrr ... not purple.

Purple is a range of colors, lavender is a shade of purple.
(also, lavender isn't Veilguard's color, lavender is light blueish purple, while Veilguard is more of a mix between amethyst purple, HTML/CSS purple and cardinal - since it is, in reality, supposed to represent a relatively uneven mix between blue and red)

Ha, turns out Saints Row was always aimed at women.

Do you think ragebaiters would change their mind if Veilguard also came with a giant purple dildo??

update for steam sales #68. It's getting better. They doing something right finally.
That seems extremely low for a AAA game coming out in less than a month.
Enjoy DAV while it lasts, it might be the last Dragon Age game...
Don't forget Steam is not the only place to buy the game. It's also on Xbox, PS, Epic and EA App. It's doing well on Steam and probably on other platforms as well
I honestly wouldn't worry too much about pre-orders or anything like that until the week or so leading up to release. And it's probably better to track console sales anyway, if past trends are any indication.

Nowadays, preorders is a 1st indicator of a game's appeal to the player community. This visual appeal, via marketing, is in static art, followed by a trailer and content review articles. I'm discarding hard core fans... they buy shyte as long as the game belongs to a franchise they like (at times I'm in that category ).
Steam preorders is a damn good indicators of where DA4 stands vs other games. Bio's hope of hitting a home run, let alone a grand slam, is on shaky grounds.... If the colour purple turns off males but is pleasing to females (some study was made), what the f**k were they thinking? Or not.
BSN has mostly fans of the series but Bio is going after the newbies.... sure the "kids" like action combat but the first thing they get hit with is the colour purple... I'm no psychologist but s**t, marketing is supposed to be all over this mistake. Oh, forgot, artistic integrity.... does not equate to a best seller.
DA4 on consoles must contend with other console games.... it's a wash to me, other than a number. Though, I tend to agree that consoles sales is more significant of Veilguard's success.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
It can be indicative of success, yes, but it's not only measure. Pre-order has bad rap for good reason and if you're buying digital you can just buy day of release anyway.

It's kinda amazing, really. For years now gamers have been asking other gamers to not preorder as it's seen as a bad practice... yet, every darn time people use preorder number to judge how the game fares during pre-release. Talk about mixed messaging.

Trick Weekes @trickweekes.bsky.social Apparently a Veiltober guide has Taash for today's entry, and I have seen so much amazing Taash fan art. It's incredible to think that in a few short weeks, people will finally get to play the game and meet a character I've been working on some version of since 2016.

I know EA gets a bad rap, but how many other games would've been canceled? Hell, even under EA themselves have canceled known games (Star Wars as an example). Long story short, I guess I'm thank full EA stuck with this one and didn't cancel it. I know how cheesy that sounds, but I don't care I'm a fan of this franchise. If limited import choices is this only bad thing so far? I mean, every other thing sounds amazing.

And YouTubers react as if the sky is falling.
Yeah, well, they also make things up. Like, I know that we don't really know what EA's expectations for Veilguard are, yet I did see people screaming about how DAVe doesn't sell at all - and try as I might, I can't imagine EA's expectations for Veilguard being close to zero.

I object! My favorite color is purple. While I favor the base color and some its darker variants the most, I appreciate all tones.
Needless to say, I am not troubled by Veilguard's palette.

Mass Effect Andromeda had an option to export the Ryder twins to MassEffectArchives. You could select your "active" twins and import them into the CC. It seems Veilguard’s feature is contained within the game with no need to host face codes on a website.
In MEA, the face was saved before exiting the CC. We don't know how Veilguard will work, but I'd expect something similar. It's far more useful to save early rather than late.
From what I understand, the Import feature is localized, meaning, you can Import a character’s appearance data from a save in your PC or Console, in case you want to reuse or refine upon a character’s look.
It should be noted also that this time around the sliders have numerical values (%) making it easier to recreate and/or share a character’s appearance. Thank the Maker for that. 🙏
Yeah, I know it's offline/local, and I think it's great that they're shipping a game that's finished and "all-inclusive" in terms of features. I can't remember the last time I played a game that didn't have some type of online component, even if it was just a non-essential enhancement.
EDIT: I recently did a bunch of internet research on the various shades of "purple". It was driven by curiosity inspired by a different game (tabletop), and now I can feel sagacious, nod, twirl my mustache and peer through my monocle as people discuss the pros and cons. (I may not actually have a mustache or monocle.)
I quit pre-ordering years ago, as I think it's mostly bad for consumers and rewards publishers for the wrong behaviors. For Veilguard, though, I preorded once I saw a decent gameplay video (as in not the ones BioWare provided). I wanted to show support for a game I will definitely play, and one that is seemingly being developed and released in a very pro-consumer fashion.

It seems that younger males are less prejudiced against purple than old farts. "Fascinatingly, surveys indicate young generations exhibit virtually no gender divide in purple preference. Generation Z males are increasingly comfortable bucking traditional norms. Gender fluidity and rejection of binaries is a hallmark Gen Z trait."

Same. This is first and hopefully only game I’ll ever preordered, mostly because of how unique circumstances are. I thought about holding out until day one for the moral victory, but that just seemed silly lol.

If I can ask dev for one small new feature, I will ask for option to choose theme colour.
