To be fair, the wolves in Inquisition are implied to be affected by the Breach.
The bears are just godless killing machines, however.

In the interests of managing our expectations, Patrick didn't say shapeshift into a wolf. He just said he could shapeshift. It could just mean Solas has a dragon form. (It'd be stupid as hell if it did. But it could. >_>) I'm with you on the assumption its a wolf, of course. Maybe someone should clarify with him? Though if you ask for a specific like "Shapeshift into a wolf, right? Not just a dragon like the others?" he might just say "spoilers". I'm honestly surprised he just straightforwardly confirmed this much. Me too, I thought I remembered them deflecting shapeshifting questions in the past. Biofan has the rest of the twitter thread on the topic archived on his tumblr:

lol Watch there be an inordinate amount of wolves next game just... as part of the landscape or something. And we'll all be suspicious of them. It'll be the new "apostate mage companion" of npcs. Hopefully we'll still have the Packmaster's Amulet available so we don't have to kill them all. Automatic-attack wild animals like wolves and bears are the ONE thing I wish game companies would stop doing. Wolves and bears don't automatically attack people in the real world. They usually disappear long before you see them. If you happen to surprise one because you are being too quiet or the environment is being too loud (wind, rain, rushing streams, etc.), they will usually try to warn you off because they are not actually interested in getting in a fight with you. If you are dumb enough to approach them, or their hard-won food source, or their offspring still, THEN they might attack you. Attacking is a last resort, though. (I teach safety in bear country as part of my job.) Yeah. You could say that's a pet peeve of mine. And so many people are urban these days, with little to no experience in a natural environment, and so many movies portray animals as these terrifying things out to get you. It would be nice if video games had animals act like they actually do in the wild so as to help reduce peoples' fears about going into the woods. LOTRO has animals like bears and boars making threatening sounds and motions when you get too close and they only attack if you stay too close and not if you back off. It would be nice if more video games did that sought of thing, w/ animals threatening or running away instead of charging up and attacking you at first sight.

But I suppose that's what Kyne's Peace is for.) (Also, a fellow LOTRO player? o.o)

Bogfishers, gurns, druffalo and brontos do give you a warning snarl if you get too close. The other non-predators just run away.
DAI definitely isn’t a perfect model of an actual ecosystem, but really, what video game is?

Also if you're part of the Dark Brotherhood in ESO, you can get a passive that will reduce the detection range for enemies while you are mounted, so you can safely ride by a group of wolves and they leave you alone.

Cori Nicole @genevraelIn preparation for editing #TheDreadWolfRises, I have now picked up five different versions of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah for my playlists. Yours_Truly @ytcshepardBut wouldn’t it be funnier if after being exposed to red lyrium he switched to the rhythms of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right”? Cori Nicole @genevraelIf we get to make our musical DLC, I will definitely present this idea.

If we are up against the Dread Wolf, I want to be Little Red Riding Hood.(Or a graduate in Veterinary Science from the College at Val Royeaux with a set of magic gardening shears, but I imagine that some female elven Inquisitors might not approve.)

I've mentioned on other threads how much that quest in the Emerald Graves annoyed and upset me when they asked me to deal with a troublesome bear. When I got to the cave the bear had cubs. No wonder it was attacking anyone who came near. My lot should have shifted their camp further away instead of killing her. Every subsequent play through I deliberately ignored that request. So far as the random bear attacks were concerned, at least in DAI they had the excuse that the animals were behaving abnormally because of the rifts all over the place spooking them but I'd rather they left the wildlife out of the random encounters in future, unless they are specifically aggressive beasts not found in our own world, so we have no way of saying how they would behave.

In the interests of managing our expectations, Patrick didn't say shapeshift into a wolf. He just said he could shapeshift. It could just mean Solas has a dragon form. To be honest, I'm sure Solas could shapeshift into a dragon if he wanted to but it may be that he wouldn't because of the association of that form with the false gods, so the big black wolf was his alternative, particularly as it played into the fearsome reputation they had given him. Mind you, the Evanuris warned people to be wary of his ordinary humble elf look because it isn't scary and fools you into thinking he is a friend. They were certainly right about that one. I'd still like to know when he first became associated with being a wolf, dread or not. He says that Solas came first and the Dread Wolf later, but the statues of him with Mythal in the Deep Roads show him as a wolf, as does the one on guard outside her Temple. This suggests that when he was her side-kick/bodyguard he was either known as a wolf or actually took the form of a wolf. It's one of the questions that I'd like him to answer next time round.

Nothing upsets gods more than having the piss taken out of everything that makes them special. ...annnnd I’m just now realizing this is more of a “Sera” solution than a “Solas” solution.

Same here. I killed them once and felt awful afterwards. Now I just head-canon telling the campers to suck it up and leave mama bear the hell alone!

aries @proletariatittyOkay guys let’s discuss: what’s the worst date you’ve ever been on? Gita Jackson, it’s me your giant golden wife @xoxogossipgitaNot a date, but throughout an entire relationship my bf would make references to South Park jokes which I did not get because I don’t watch it, and then explain the joke to me. After the umpteenth non-reaction he said “do you want me to stop explaining South Park jokes to you.” Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesThen he left at the end of DAI with all the best mage gear. Eric Anderson @ericander94He could’ve at least mailed it back or something... Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes“Inquisitor, we’ve received a package of top-tier mage equipment. It’s addressed to ‘Vhenan’, first name, ‘Moo’.”

The bears are just godless killing machines, however. One learns to deal with them. The annoying part is that the take forever to kill for insignificant xp.
Also, echoing ladyiolanthe, I actually do not want to kill them as a rule (unless I need bear hides), and there are areas in the Storm Coast and the Hinterlands where they respawn so fast you'd think there is a hard rule ensuring that there is always a mininum of bears on the map. I'm rarely lacking for hides though, rather than cloth.

That would make the address read "Moo Vhenan", which sounds a lot like "movin' on".

I don’t think I’ve ever actually fought the Suledin Keep giants, I’m always so low level that I have to sneak by. The one time I had a character who needed to fight Imshael for RP reasons, it ended up pretty much being the longest fight in the game. GBH is totally worth it though, it’s the best T3 mat for most slots.

As for Suledin Keep, I managed to sneak around the giants once but could never repeat the feat, and Imshael - do you usually make a deal with him or do you have another way to avoid him?
