And, according to Barlow, five years isn't that long considering the amount of work the cast had to do: "It takes a long time to record 700 characters, you know - 80,000 lines or 140,000 lines with all the Rooks. It just takes time to make good."
Ok so assuming that 80,000 lines included one Rook then there are about 20,000 lines for Rook (since 3 added Rooks combined for an extra 60,000 lines). Hopefully that means we get a lot of dialogue variety.
Does the article clarify the 60k additional lines are for the 3 or 4 Rooks?
I’ve seen people indicating the 60k Rook lines are divided by four, so 15k per Rook and 95k with one Rook added to the rest.

I didn't see any clarification on that in the article. I interpreted it as 80,000 unique lines of dialogue (meaning one Rook's worth of lines is included in there). But it could be interpreted as you said. Either way, seems like a good amount I think.

Going by the "with all the Rooks", one Rook is included in the 80k lines.

So SO thrilled to finally meet my Neve (@jessicaclark) & Harding (@missalihillis )!
The fellas were apparently around somewhere, but I was kicked out of VIP before I got to meet them classic rookie move 😅
I had to take moment to figure out why Erika says they 'finally' met. Of course, the photo floating around with the four Rooks pointing at each other Spiderman style is just that: the Rooks have met each other, but not necessarily the companions 😁
EA may want to have a word with you, regarding "when Bio is good and ready". Oh 4-5 pages back there was a post that said a Bio insiders mentioned that EA does not want a delay. Draw your own conclusion.
EA might bu7t I presonall ydon' tgive a damn about wha tEA thinks in this case
EA hires and fires and controls the purse strings. So what EA thinks is important. imo.

Poster: There is literally nothing for them to gain by waiting until only a month or two before launch to announce the date. If they don't know for sure if they'll hit the date until the game is gold then something is wrong.
I'm somewhat surprised about Gary McKay. EA sent him to the company in what seemed a corporate stooge role to watch what was going on at BioWare and right the ship a few years ago, then was named interim GM, then full GM...and now he's hanging out with fans at conventions.
Also, I'm still processing Neve being a Vampire Queen.
HU? details or link please... thanks

It was a reference to Neve's voice actress, Jessica Clark. She played Lilith in the show True Blood.
I'm pretty sure DAI didn't have that meany speaking characters and the fandom wiki has 296 different character entries for the game and that include codex reference, not just speaking in-game characters.
If the gameplay demo is anything to go by, those lines are short. Still, I find it intriguing, especially in high density cities where I expect the lines will be used.

1. On whether we can take Assan with us (without Davrin).
Not in the way that I think you're probably asking... Assan generally goes where Davrin goes, but he isn't really a full party member like your other companions.

Hm... I thought there are 8. Two for each race (ie: male, female). I also expect some dialogue differences between genders. I also expect the Rooks to share a lot of the dialogue.
Bottom line, I believe the 80k lines includes the companion diialogues.

In the GameInformer article, they said after the intro, you regroup and go to another place. Here you meet two npcs from whatever faction, and you get stuck several minutes in dialogues. Now I'm not too fond of hearing that, because there is a tendency to do loooong lore dump in dialogues with Bioware.

Yup - my assumption was:
140k total, allocated as: 80k between the companions (who get a decent chunk of that 80k - let's say a few thousand each) and the nearly 700 NPCs out there 60k = Rook, 15k for each Rook actor (which in itself is still big for one main character!)
So yeah as you put it, it basically means 95k lines (unique lines anyway). Big!
