We're finally getting a release date, and this is what you're complaining about. They're just telling us what to expect in August. Jesus Christ. Correction: you’ve gotten a release date for a release date. Why the need to blue balls the consumers for a month? Maybe the yneed to confirm i tfirst s it's possible the higher upsat EA have t obe OK wit hit. Until the yget shown th egreen light they can' t tell us

But maybe the devs are getting bombarded with questions about release dates and other things, and they're hoping that revealing the marketing road map will stall - some - of those questions.
Otherwise *big shrugs*

Dragon Inquisition is the most successful BioWare game with 6 million copies sold. The last three RPG games of Assassin’s Creed which is Orgins to Valhalla have all sold more ten million copies. I think it’s BioWare that should be one’s to try avoid direct competition. From a business point of view I think it’s best for DATV to release in October. It also hard to type this without sounding like an a**... Inquisition also came out in a very weak AAA gaming year and that plays a part. So what? It was critically and commercially successful.

Thus he is very well aware of Lucanis and his actions at the Wigmaker Job, has similar reasons to me not to like him, and further expands on the Venatori connections within his family that I was going to give him anyways. Which will of course be ruined when BioWare mandates that Shadow Dragon Rook not have anything to do with Tevinter Nobility. Sorry, but I've got to ask. Why are you making your Rook have Venatori connections? I know Francesca in the comic series was from a Venatori family but turned her back on the organisation, so has he done something similar? You see, I'm a bit confused why he is part of the Shadow Dragons, unless he has infiltrated them in order to undermine them. If not and he supports the aims of the Shadow Dragons why would he hate Lucanis for what he did? Like I say, I imagine the Shadow Dragons would be in favour of his action and it seems possible they were even aiding him. However, I suppose he might object to an outsider interfering in Tevinter affairs. I suppose the really interesting part is going to be discovering who was his mysterious client with the deep pockets as I strongly suspect Lucanis did know their identity and just evaded telling Illario. Incidentally, I don't see any reason a Rook Shadow Dragon couldn't be from Tevinter nobility, even an Altus family. In Neve's story it would seem that several former Venatori members sought to redeem themselves by joining the anti-slavery movement, because they erroneously thought the Venatori were going to free the slaves (they must have been from Calpernia's group within the faction), which I assume is connected in some way with the Shadow Dragons. Was that the case with Oliver? Well A. I think it adds a cool level of nuance to the proceedings and B. Think it gives him sufficient motivation to hate the Venatori and thus justifies him having that Anti Venatori damage they said the Shadow Dragons had. From there though my initial idea is that originally his nuclear family was publicly anti Venatori even it Oliver had distant relations who were in the organization. But when he went off to war to prove himself and protect the Imperium from the Qunari threat his family, out of some desperation, privately started working with them. Meanwhile oliver starts suspecting the Venatori have infiltrated the Tevinter military because some things don't make sense otherwise. So he returns home after his service with the intention of eliminating the Venatori influence from Minrathous and discovers his familial support. Which brings me to Lucanis where, we have had this conversation, we can't be sure that there wasn't innocence at the party. So despite not really liking the Venatori he still considers lucanis a loose canon. Again we'll see where this goes in Veilguard. As far as the Shadow Dragons are concerned much the same. He shares a cause with them and does a few missions with them but is largely not sure he can trust them given how jaded and paranoid he is plus how controlling he is. But to be fair figure he is still considering their offer when the final crisis of his backstory happens and propels him to the mindset he is at the start of Veilguard.

A marketing road map is something I've not seen before, in fairness. Bit weird. But maybe the devs are getting bombarded with questions about release dates and other things, and they're hoping that revealing the marketing road map will stall - some - of those questions. Otherwise *big shrugs* Not seen before? BioWare posted one in June and Paradox just posted a schedule for the game next 3 dev diaries for VTM Bloodline 2 after taking a month break...
A few years back, BioWare used to release a blog with the conventions they would be at months in advance. That was when most marketing was done at those. Now it's more streams and you need to tell people where and when those happen so posting "marketing schedule" have started to be more common.

I knew I had seen that style of dagger before, I just couldn't place the name. (thanks @thiefkingix) The Lyrium Dagger is essentially a large Kunai. Though probably not going to see a lot of use as a climbing dagger. Maybe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunai

Hot take: I don’t love the dagger. I’m a mage and need no weapon (other than a staff ), behold the arcane forces at my command, yada yada blah blah blah... But I know this effin dagger is probably gonna be a big part of the game. It’s everywhere. So, I better get used to it… 🤷♀️

Some of DAVe's writers keep extolling the Companions as "found family". That's a fine thread to explore, but to most people their found families are also families of CHOICE. People we choose to share our lives with because we value their company, and not because we're forced to.
If Veilguard, allows us to explore these characters and accept, ignore, or oppose them as we see fit, it would go a long way towards repairing the series' role playing roots. If however, they are all mandatory because the writers see any disinterest in their characters as personal, then to me all of their talk about player choice is just that, talk.

It’s the whole lyrium aesthetic, isn’t it? I don’t totally remember the weapons that came with the Descent DLC, but I do know I didn’t use any of them, stats be damned. The Avvar ones were even worse. Just, an assault on the eyeballs.
I get trying to innovate and variety is always good, but nothing wrong with sticking to the classics/basics, too IMHO.

THing is family, no matter how they have come to be, don't have to get along and certainly not all the time. Granted this is not as strong of a theme with found family in fiction but you can still have dissagreements, not like one another, maybe even especially despise one another at least for a time. But in the end families do tend to share certain goals in common long term... Which it sounds like BioWare is going to get really right. Like they have already said that we don't have to like our companions, they don't have to like us, there are dialogue options, there is an approval system. And BioWare has also said that at this point that they can leave us if we disagree enough. Now to what extent all this will take place and what options we do and do not get we will have to wait and see but it seems very clear that they are going to give us role playing options to express our relationships to these characters. But from there the thing is that these games have not ever been about infinite player choice. They always have existed in worlds where certain things are on rails, not as much as some franchises, more so then others. And in my opinion this is one of BioWare's strengths, imo. Whereas they have had games and companions all over the map when it comes to how mandatory they are or if you can get rid of them and your relationships to them, but the risk is the more optional thigns tend to be the less deptht hey tend to have. Whereas the deepest companion in Inquisition was Solas, one of the few where we had no option to recruit, no option to get rid of. And integral to the events of the story and while I didn't like everything about his characterization in context he became one of the most fascinating characters in the setting. And BioWare seems to have done somethign here which could be really brilliant, we'll see if they pull it off. But we might disagree and fight enough to where they leave, but they said they will still show up at the end of the game, which makes perfect sense because saving the world should be more important then any petty squabbles. Thus it gives them freedom to give us a wide variety of options in dealing with them, but also let them create companions which are neccessary to the story which should thus deepen their characterization.

In terms of options for sure, but remember that of the 4 available romances for straight women two were race-gated, and the two who were not had some... complicating elements (Blackwall's crime isn't easy to stomach, and IB can straight up betray you and say he never cared if you never saved the Chargers). And let's not even talk about Solas lol. Cullen being a recovering drug-addict still leaves him the most straightforward of the lot. In comparison Cassandra and Josephine are both very wholesome romances (although if you decide to support Cass as Divine I guess that adds some spice to it)... Don't think straight women have had that since Alistair. xD

"was"? Is Sheryl Chee not longer at Bioware or is it just me who is misunderstand this? Well it could be "was" as the character has already been written and no further input was necessary, hence the past tense. Still being with Bioware in Linkedin would suggest this. Or may be Sheryl has managed to find alternative employment and decided to go before she was pushed (possibly still working out her notice period). Wasn't it her who complained in 2023 that they were being asked to complete the game with one hand tied behind them because so many of the team had been made redundant? I have to admit that if I had been her, I would have been quietly looking around for alternative employers and would have had no qualms about leaving if an opportunity presented itself.

But I know this effin dagger is probably gonna be a big part of the game. It’s everywhere. So, I better get used to it… 🤷♀️ Imho it is indeed an ugly dagger. There's even marble on the handle? It’s the whole lyrium aesthetic, isn’t it? Isn’t it telling that for a narcissist, Solas has awful taste? At least put a cute handle on it, dude. Don't have a problem with the blade if it is pure lyrium. I assume it has some special properties other than channeling magic for which I would have thought a staff or rod or orb would have been better. I can understand it being a blade if its main purpose was for something else other than channeling magic but even the magic ritual to open the Fade in Tevinter Nights had the Tevinter mage extract a blade to perform it. Whilst they initially used the blade to undertake a multiple blood sacrifice, after that they seem to have been doing exactly the same as Solas and channeling magic. To be honest I'm deeply suspicious of anything that is used for magic rituals. And Rook is there holding it. What are they meant to use it for? What really puzzles me is the circle at the end of the handle. What in the hell is that for? If it was also made from lyrium then I'd assume it was some form of circling the magic back on itself for increased power but based on appearances it is just a decorative circle. I need to check the trailer again and see if there are any clues in that. Further thought. The Evanuris know how to put a piece of themselves into an inanimate object in order to survive. Flemeth/Mythal did this with an amulet. Did she, or someone else, also do this with a blade? Solas (with Mythal inside him) seemed to demonstrate a sort of affection for the figure in the idol in TN. Was there more to it than simply nostalgia? Is that where the blade gains its power and why it always reforms after seemingly turning into something else? In other words, does it have sentience?

Issue is, in AAA gaming industry it's essentially insecure position almost everywhere.
Going to independent studio is a gamble.
So she'd have to switch out of entire industry if she seeks job security and that's also fraught with risk.
No, if she's leaving, it would only be if she has some specific issue with EA/BioWare unrelated to job security or if she wants to strike out as freelance to open up her creativity.

What about that company that is working on a Sci-fi game (Exodus?) and has many people from the old Mass Effect team? Perhaps they head hunted her as a good writer even if it isn't the fantasy genre. I wasn't suggesting she was looking for security so much as she no longer had any loyalty for Bioware. She sounded pretty sore with them over the situation last year but was wise enough to stick with it until something better came along. Simply resigning when you have nothing to go to would be stupid but that doesn't mean she wouldn't jump at the opportunity if presented to her by another studio.
