There you have it. A hack & slash game.... for me anyway. This game I will play sometime after launch.... wait for game reviews... etc. More than likely, the "no death" toggle will be set to "on". so that I can play combat at my own pace.

Yeah, at least give us the option to switch the rune slot for an ability of our choice. In the past, features like that which sound good on paper, players end up not using them a whole bunch and would prefer another spell or talent in the mix. that is already the implication behind the rune slots.

As i said it was real time with pause, which is a hybrid combat system. it's not quite turn based, but also not quite real time. I mean, over the years i saw a lot of people who likes turn based games, also think that RTWP is an affront to humanity and worst thing ever existed lol. Maybe I'm wrong on this one, but I don't see it as real time with pause. How can it be real time when your actions are queued? Wasn't adding to the experience? For me, having control over the companions added replay value. I would like to ask the employees, at least the one's who worked on the previous DA games, if they had the same thoughts but were overthrown by the higher ups who ignored their concerns. I would ask Busche would she remove the playable companion mechanic from the previous games if she was in charge? Hmmm.......If they don't show anymore gameplay before the release, I might hold off getting on day one until I see some gameplay videos on youtube.

My mind did weird things with this post. Like I guess I substituted Shadow Dragons in my mind with Crows so it was like 'ok so the Crows also get some armors without feathers, cool'. But then my brain was like 'huh wonder what the Shadow Dragons will be rocking?' then I realized it made no sense for the Crows to not have feathers so went back to the beginning and saw Shadow Dragons. This does beg a couple of questions though: I do wonder if, like later in DAIs launch cycle, if we can customize the look of our armor and at least its color. Like, for no reason at all, hope we can run around wearing some green leather. Also do wonder if this implies that these factions will have armor more tailored for one class or another...like hearing a lot of mentions of leather. Or is it going to be an issue where each faction will get various armors for all three classes. Or is armor more 'universal' this go around?

Warriors are the ones with the full face helmets so they're probably gonna be the default in the marketing art for most games that have a customisable protagonist.

I take it you didn't play BG3? I ask because I've seen more people who like turn based combat than real time with pause, so honestly maybe you would like BG3 style combat better. I'd say that BG3 is more accessible than DAO or DA2, once you learn the basics. I haven't played BG3 but I did play Pillars of Eternity and the much earlier game, Temple of Elemental Evil, which were both turn based and didn't enjoy them as much as BG and BG2 or DAO. I am generally not good at fighting in real time, so I prefer the pause ability to give me time to think what to do and issue orders to the rest of my party. This is going to be somewhat superfluous if we cannot control our companions, just sync with them on some of our attacks, but I suppose it will mean I can concentrate entirely on my own PC. So, long as the companions fight intelligently then I will not have a problem with that but if they start acting in stupid ways, like Varric (you are a ranged fighter so why are you closing on the enemy?) and Iron Bull (I know you like hitting dragons but it is ripping you to shreads) or all the companions (the dragon is currently sitting on a rock out of reach fire bombing us, so get to cover and stay there) did in DAI, then I can envisage a fair bit of swearing at the screen. Also, when confronting a party with a mage, the priority is taking down the mage. This was something I needed to remind them of in all three games.

Yeah I was really hoping when they announced it it would be a road map for all or most of the month as they went to do things. But almost middle of the way through the month and just have to come to grips with us getting only a single marketing blitz like we did during June. But yes time is ticking.
