I'm just glad we don't have lollipop elves again. Maybe I'll even play an elf, since it seems they're not "help! help! I'm being repressed!" anymore, so I can do a veilguard elf.
Plan to do just that.

iswordzmanSo far I’ve yet to see any armor/weapons/character designs/world design that I don’t actively *adore* @bioware and @corinne_at_last and the whole team look to have freaking nailed every detail on this. I’ve hardly been more hyped for a game in years. @dragonagegame is going to consume my soul. corinne_at_lastWait til you mess with the transmog system then 😉 The character art and tech anim teams have outdone themselves with the hair and fits. - Transmog was high on wishlist, so really happy here. Hopefully I can make a decent pirate-y Lord of Fortune out of this.
Now, can Bio put the same effort in ME5 ? Will Bio do it? They said UE 5.2 engine will be used.

My question is this: As an Elemental mage, must I be tied to the Shadow Dragons Faction? I like to be independent... to choose my own way of customizing my mage powers.
So far, the three type of magic in DA4 is the Necro, Spellblade and Elemental, that I know of. And, I get the impression that we cannot mix and match.

Specializations are not tied to factions.
This. The Factions associated with the specs just add a certain "flavor".

Specializations are not tied to factions. Not tied as in you have to be a member of that faction to have that specialism but I suspect it may be tied to acquiring the specialism. So instead of stomping around Thedas looking for items associated with your specialism as we had with DAI, we will perhaps having to do some sort of quest associated with our "training". I'm okay with that as hopefully it will occur at the right time so I can upgrade immediately on completing it and it is likely we have to deal with the factions anyway in connection with our companion's personal quest.* I think it will be less frustrating than I found gaining my specialism in DAI. I do find it a bit odd that I am having to go to the Crows for my magical training if I want Spell Blade as my specialism but I assume they are going to have a logical reason for this, rather than just spreading the training around and the Crows just got it randomly. *It is also possible that we just go to the relevant companion for advice on training and they give us a small quest to prove our competence.

I will say it's funny that Grey Wardens, the most iconic of the bunch, has only one spec associated with it (Champion).
Incidentally, I plan to run that on my first playthough. Unless Spellblade REALLY catches my eye, which is not impossible.

Considering that companions can die or leave you, albeit temporarily, i doubt that yoy learn specs from them. Or maybe if they're dead/left you, then they're replaced by NPC as a ques giver for learning specialization.

Look, my canon Warden never romanced him, but he's a fine man and I will always regret that they couldn't have a polyamorous relationship in DAO okay!

Ah, maybe it's just for consoles then. It's been a long time since I picked up a PC game on disc. I think DAO back in 2009 was the last game I bought where the PC physical release had a disc in the box. Everything after was either box with codes or online digital purchase. ME 3 also had the disk in the box (2 disks actually). Got it on the shelf. Although, once registered to Origin, I no longer needed the disk to install, I could simply download it. Never tried installing it anew without internet to make sure it actually works and it wasn't useless even back in 2012.

I had to google Transmorg would you young whipper snappers be so kind to stop inventing new words all the time! We old people are getting right fed up with it! It's mostly an MMO term. That's where this sort of system really shines, letting players express their creativity and uniqueness in what outfits they use since that's mostly how you make your character stand out next to millions of other player characters. In singleplayer games it's not as major but it's still good to see it implemented to allow the players more creative freedom.

I'm trying to remember the last game I picked up on disc. Maybe Titanfall 2 (2016)? Still have an external drive kicking around though, just in case. For me it was a little indie title. You’ve probably never heard of it. Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Got around to listening to some clips of the voice actors and I gotta say I'm very pleased! I'm going to have a real tough time deciding between the two voices for male Rook; Alex Jordan and Jeff Berg are delivering! Really love Zach Mendez for Lucanis too. Sounds like the mysterious dreamy Zorro character I've always wanted. Really enjoyed Jessica Clark for Neve and Jee Han for Bellara as well.
