I was wondering if we were finally going to see gigantic statues like the codex mentions. I guess that's answered nows. Also some smaller "statues". The mixed-up videos thought, I was confused at first, it's not just Rivain and the Wetlands, Minrathous and Treviso too.
It looks quickly put together, I heard no music on the videos ? Looks great though, Arlathan and Treviso looks fantastic (although at first I thought we were back in Ferelden)
Treviso and Minrathous were also swapped, and I had a feeling it was like this when looking at Minrathous, because it looked like Treviso.
The actual Minrathous video looks like Docktown.
I do agree that they all look great, and hopefully the city portion of the game will be better then in Inquisition
I wonder if the areas described in the article (Arlathan forest, Hossberg Wetlands, Minrathous, Rivain, Treviso, the Lighthouse and the Crossroads) are all of the main zones in the Veilguard, similar to the big fully explorable areas in Inquisition? There is also Necropolis but I'm not sure whether that's a major zone or not. We'll also get smaller quest-related zones like Weisshaupt on top of these for sure.
All of Northern Thedas visited in one go, there's only Par Volen and Seheron left, unless they're also included and kept under wraps of course

...it will never stop feeling strange reading of a fantasy town in a videogame is called Treviso. Overall, I'm exited to see all these places, but maybe Minrathous slightly more than the others.

Also no mention of Kal-Shirok yet.

When I described the Lighthouse and the Black City as counterparts, I meant in the thematic sense, not that they were literally created by either the same person or by opposing factions, though that's not a bad idea.

Which areas are y'all looking forward to exploring?
I'm excited for Rivain, it looks gorgeous! And finally a beach that doesn't look cold.
Fo rme they'll all be interesting it'll jus tbe nice to be somewhere that isn't Orlais and Ferelden. Getting t osee places which som eof ou rother campanions are from would be nic elike Nevarra is Cassandra's hom ean dplaces like Antiva where Josephine and Zevran came from. Als oof cours eTevinter where we know peopl elike Dorian came from.

Isn't Kal-Sharok beneath Orlais? Seems odd that we would visit there when we're otherwise moving north.
It's in the Hunterhorn mountains, closer to the Anderfels

The article says it's "a few" of the areas we can visit in-game and we can revisit mission zones so not all the zones are DAI-like open zones. Arlathan Forest and Rivain probably have multiple zones of different size. I also suspect Minrathous has sub-zones, since they have only shown Docktown outside of the intro.
The Lighthouse is the Skyhold-like playerbase. The Crossroads are divided in sub-zones, we can see it in the IGN 22 minutes gameplay demo (which is full of spoilers).
Lore-wise, the Anderfells were originally depicted as a more arid region. I’m curious to see if the game will include this desert-like topography alongside the wetlands, given the area’s vast size.
I’m thrilled that Dave will feature locations I’ve always dreamed of exploring in Thedas: Rivain and the Anderfells.
While an entire game could have been set solely on Tevinter (which is probably the biggest area), it wasn’t, and for that, I’m eternally grateful. Thedas is a stunning world with incredibly rich and diverse areas, I'm completely in love with.

We saw a shot near Weisshaupt in the release date trailer, during Davrin's introduction, that indeed shown a more arid area.
With the introduction of some Asian features and new places, will we see corresponding weapons and armor? For example, if I want to build a Samurai-like character, will there be katanas or something of the sort available, or will the equipment and aesthetics remain predominantly European-inspired?

Sorry to ask here: I just finished DAO, and it’s been a minute since I’d last played and I can’t quite remember: what is the correct/safe save file to use when importing into Awakening?
To be honest I thought the game did this automatically. I don't recall ever having to do this for myself. Mind you, it is a while since I played so I could be misremembering it. For the record, when actually in game I thought I just opted to continue my adventures after the celebration. If coming back to it, I selected my last save for that particular Warden, which usually included one I made at the end.
I read somewhere that you’re supposed to use the auto-save, or some decisions won’t carry over correctly / are buggy. But that doesn’t include the boon (not that it matters), does it? I’m using Qwynn’s amazing Fix Pack and don’t know if it’s safe to use a manual save made right before the sliders play out, or if I should stick with the autosave, just in case.

Looking at the Crossroads screenshot in the new journal about exploration, I'm seeing a DAI asset. The Dales big stone owl statue we can see in the Emerald Graves and I think there are a few in Exalted Plains too, but used as a wall decoration. hmmm.
Also, the tree-people in Arlathan forest video creeps me out.
